Cars. Expensive cars require more frequent and complicated maintenance and repairs than cheaper cars. They over engineer them on purpose in order to make it unreasonable to maintain them in the long run. They don't want their brand sullied by old versions of their cars driven around by poor people.

Google+ did the same thing when it rolled out, then they tried to force people to use it before they cancelled the project.

Ok, I can buy a quad core thin client for $30. The prices for these are too high for what they are.

Illinois just enacted a law that prevents alpr companies from sharing data outside of the state in order to protect people coming into the state for abortion.

I played the gunshot in this scene. I had to clap two boards together when they turned out the lights.

My mom had just married my stepdad and I was around 7 years old. I would have to go to his mom and dad's house before school since my mom had just started working again. His dad was dying and on oxygen. He was pretty much bed ridden at that point. He called me into his room and asked me just to come in there to say hello whenever I came over. He didn't last much longer after that, but he still wanted to see me even though he had barely known me.

Me who started driving in 2001 and then saw gas prices double before I was out of hs. Then the great recession happened when I finally got out on my own and gas was even more expensive than it is now and companies had started raising prices like crazy with the excuse that fuel prices were high. It's also when shrinkflation started happening. Good jobs were also unobtainable because people postponed retirement for years after the recession. I didn't get anything decent until around 10 years ago, and now I feel like I'm back where I was when I was 21 working at McDonald's.

Lock out procedure wasn't followed properly. You're supposed to check that equipment is in a safe state before you go into a dangerous area like that.

Someone in their 50s could easily have $1M in assets if their house appreciated a lot since they bought it and they gave a decent retirement account. Yet they could have been earning $50k a year and have no liquid assets.

To be fair, the FED should have raised interest rates almost ten years ago, but they're a bunch of pussies over there worried about their "legacy." They let the economy run too hot and then when COVID hit the only tool they had left was to print more money. So now they had to raise interest rates and the free money train has ended, all these dickhead investors started buying up housing and other industries in order to commodify them. Bunch of weak bitches over there I'll tell ya whut.

Their argument for "safety" always bothered me, their app store is full of garbage and malware. They just want their 30% cut.

Having owned a manual for a long time and also a bunch of different automatic cars but never an electric and also having been an enthusiast and participating in motorsports. I would honestly prefer taking a train and riding a bike than driving. I hate driving on the road. I hate other drivers and having to pay attention while I go somewhere. I hate driving long distances and l hate dealing with car issues and I used to be a mechanic for awhile. The whole thing is stupid as hell. I like driving go-carts, that's fun. Cars are dumb as hell.

My thermostat has a setting which allows for a greater temperature swing. I have it set at 2*. With the temperature set at 68f the heat refill not come on until the temperature reaches 66f. This causes the heat to run longer but less frequently, which is more efficient than running in short bursts. I also have a setting which runs the fan for a few minutes after the heat stops which scavenges the remaining heated air out of the air ducts.

Single use consumer plastics should be banned.

What really chaps my ass is when they don't bother to tell you. It always happens when I'm filling out a form and find out that the submit button just doesn't do anything. Then I have to go back through chrome just to fill out the same form a second time.

I also open up my eastern/southern facing drapes/blinds in the morning to allow the sun to heat up the house through the windows for some free heat throughout the day.

The media keeps reporting things that people engage with because those figures drive advertising. If people didn't engage with ragebait, then people like Trump wouldn't have a chance of being elected. The entire media strategy of any politician right now is to say or do the most wild shit possible so that they appear in the news. Come up with a 3 word slogan, and bam, instant support.

A website like PC part picker where I can type in a product search and it gives me results from many different websites like Amazon and newegg but also local stores within a certain range from me such as Walmart, target, etc so that I can compare prices and options before I leave the house. I already have an auto hotkey script that opens up separate tabs for each website that I want to check, but a website would be nice. It also helps me consider places that I wouldn't have thought carried the item I was looking for. Filtering by category would be useful, such as auto parts so that one could quickly compare prices and options instead of going to each retailers website one at a time.

In Halt and Catch Fire one of the main characters uses the term "killer app" which I'm not sure is period correct for the early eighties. Always bugged the crap out of me.

I planted two trees in my front yard so they will eventually block the morning sun in the summer and the house will use less energy.

Then don't use it.

People that sit in air conditioned offices and do 3 hours of work all day get paid more than people who work on the factory floor for 12 hours with minimal breaks. Makes no sense.
