A little dull tbh. I still pop over to reddit when I'm on my desktop to visit my favorite subreddits (especially my bumper group). Hopefully Lemmy gets better, but I think step one is the community needs to stop being so goddamn meta and focus on building active communities.
HBO = my brain thinks Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Last of Us, Band of Brothers, Chernobyl. Literally decades and decades of quality premium content.
MAX = porn. My brain immediately associates the name with porn. Idk why.
Tell myself to quit being such a piece of shit and to get it together.
The results are variable.
One. I am a dumb dumb and don't quite understand the point of being on multiple instances. Also so many of them are weirdly... ideological??
"Derry Girls" and "Pen15" are both hilarious and perfectly capture the awkwardness of being a teenage girl. I actually had to ask my husband to leave the room during Pen15, because it felt like he was watching footage of my most embarrassing moments.
Edit to add: if you have HBO, we've also really been enjoying "The Righteous Gemstones". It's about a family that runs a megachurch. "White Lotus", which is about rich people on vacation, isn't really what I would call a lightheaded comedy... but it's definitely funny! Especially the first season.
so. much. gossip!!!
My work phone is an iPhone. It's fine. đ¤ˇđŧââī¸ The camera is great, even compared to my pixel. The thing that drives me nutty is all of the ads. I love having ReVanced and xManager on my personal phone.
I try not to be chronically online. I've never used Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, or BeReal. I briefly used TikTok but deleted it when I felt my brain melting.
Currently, I have a fake Facebook account I use to access marketplace (it's the best way to get expensive baby stuff for cheap). On mobile I use Lemmy, on my desktop I pop into reddit. I also love my gossip discord for mindless entertainment.
My ultimate guilty pleasure -- gossip and snark communities.
This! Lemmy feels like such a sausage party right now.
When I was a kid everyone talked to me about online stranger danger. The real threat was my best friend's sixteen-year-old cousin who thought it would be super funny and edgy to show us rotten.com.
I still think about the meat grinder picture. âšī¸
Yeah it feels super icky. Especially since my fake Facebook keeps recommending friends I know in real life. And not just local people, but people all the way across the state. How does it know that????
Matcha. 𤤠The closest Asian market is 30 minutes away, so I usually make it myself.
Upvote when it's a hot take I agree with. It's gotta be a hot take though. Not the most popular opinion.
Aaaaand that's it. Literally everything else I just read and move on.
Something something beans. đ
My heart says unsweetened black iced tea, but after a bout of kidney stones I guess I'd have to go with an iced herbal tea. Maybe something minty.
Do you add milk to your tea? When oxalate is consumed with calcium, it binds in the bowel and the calcium-oxalate is passed through the stool. When you consume oxalate without calcium, your body leeches calcium from your bones and it binds in the kidney, creating stones. So just try to have a bit of calcium-rich food with your tea. đ
The only foods that should be avoided 100% are spinach, almonds, and rhubarb. The oxalate content in those foods is insane. Like five almonds has 110mg oxalate! That's why a lot of people who go on diets get kidney stones. They think they're being healthy by eating big handfuls of spinach and almonds, and then wind up in the hospital.
Hard disagree! As long as it's entertaining and well-written, I don't care if it's fake. I'm just here to have fun.
Interesting, one of my least favorite things about reddit was all of the low-effort joke replies. I could happily go the rest of my life without seeing another pun.
Unfortunately black tea is high in oxalate, which in excess amounts can cause calcium-oxalate stones (the most common type of kidney stones). It's recommended that kidney stoners keep their daily oxalate intake below 50mg, and a cup of black tea can have up to 15mg.
That "weird food thing" you keep minimizing is called Anorexia Nervosa. Get treatment. You are missing out on what should be the best years of your life.
I used to have such good conversations with my husband over AITA posts. We especially loved when our verdict ran counter to the circle jerk.
Honestly I just order from Target. I know the products are legit, and I can usually do same day pickup.
(Lately I've preferred to shop in person. The stereotype is true -- once you become a mom, getting a Starbies and walking around Target becomes your self-care.)
