Qt no doubt.

I don't think an audio distro is needed nowadays. I use endevour os, with a zen kernel or real time one (trivial to set up, just install one package) and used this tool to fine tune the setup https://codeberg.org/rtcqs/rtcqs Then it's pipewire, reaper, yabridge and not much else.

Probably the web app works better than the native app. Also, try the flatpak if you still prefer native, it's better than what's on the repos imo.

I use endevour on my main PC but bazzite in the laptop, which I barely use, so I wanted something that didn't mind not updating for a month and be fine, and bazzite nails that. I use distrobox for terminal things and vpn software for work is layered. No issues so far and very tempted to run it in my main PC, probably would do that if when arch breaks.

It's about to ask you if you have any games in your phone.

If you are in the fedora mood, try nobara os. It's fedora but with a spin on gaming, patches and some gui tools also. You can also try an inmutable distro like bazzite, which is also fedora and also focused on gaming. My advise would be to try a couple of things now that your system is clean and stick with whatever you like best.

All my windows vst work great and with pretty much no configuration with yabridge. I think some heavy drm'ed vsts are a bit more problematic but most (all in my case) work.

Check gourou! Also if you use arch there is a bin there on the aur for knock.

I'd say distrobox is the easiest and safest way to do that.

Endevour OS, 100%. Is Arch but without the hassle. I did the same as you, Manjaro then Endevour. Couldn't be happier. Also we have similar hardware (nvidia 3080) and kde+wayland is working really good here. If you would like to try something else, Nobara is great, based on fedora but with some gaming patches.

Not a fan at all of apple, but isn't the shift to arm not a "safe" movement at all? Like, they are breaking basically all the ecosystem of apps, legacy, etc... Also, from the outside, it looks like it went well? Sincerely asking, as I don't know.

The 545 drivers are very buggy, at least for me. I downgraded to 535,hopefully we get an usable 545 soon. Also, if you feel like it you can report the issue in the nvidia forums, it might get some visibility there.

Yeah. Well I have 2 + tv. I get some flicker on some xwayland apps, but right now my only remaining xwayland app is Reaper, afaik, at least the only one that flickers. No flicker on native wayland apps. Also, this workaround is worth at least trying to get rid of visual artifacts in kde:

  • Search in krunner or similar for "Plasma renderer", under "rendering loop" select "Threaded". Then reboot, not relog, reboot.

Plugins should be easy to use and pretty painless thanks to yabridge. Also just running reaper fully on wine is fine option with a ñn asio bridge to JACK. I tried it once just to play around and was impressed at how easy and performant was. Shame in the maschine hardware, this is the only thing I could find about that https://github.com/wrl/maschine.rs I also got triggered by win11 to switch to Linux half a year ago and couldn't be happier on endeavour os, no problems so far on the music production side, even with heavy drm'd plug ins. Work flow s also much better, as I can run higher sample count with lower latency than windows thanks to pipewire.

Nice! It has fixed some issues for some friends (personally I didn't had bad ones and this did nothing for me). Also I updated the workaround, forgot the reboot part.

There is the Pwa for Firefox extension, works pretty well for me.

I use teams for Linux, and it has notifications. I used teams Pwa on Firefox before and that also had notifications.

I did this with an extension, you nan probably find it easily, if not I'll take a look when I'm in the pc

Shouldn't pinning it work for that?

Yeah no issues for me. Just ran the script to upgrade and reboot. All plugins are also working.

Also you don't need that on arch /endevour. There are old nvidia drivers on the aur (I'm in the same situation than you and use those)

Came to say the same. Endeavour if you are into bleeding edge, nobara if not.

Feishin for me and occasionally strawberry

Give nobara a try. It's fedora with focus on gaming. Mint is always a good option. Personally I use endeavour os, pretty straight forward to install but maybe a bit too barebones if you don't know what you need yet.

I use a yubikey (couldn't chose, it's from work) and I have no issues with it working out of the box (endevour os). I just touch the "button" and it "types" the key.

Same, searxng is great.

Another one for the endevour os team. Not looking to distro hop anytime soon.

My client of choice! Nice!

Remmina or krdc work fine for me. Also parsec (no hosting there though). Oh if hosting, I'm not sure, but moonlight/sunshine work fine for me, even if it's not the usual desktop sharing app.

I actually like that that thing from manjaro and use it from time to time in endevour, I think is called "paman".

Plus one for ublue images

Omv, that is debian with a Web interface basically

Id say nobara if you game, fedora if you don't. Or just nobara as its fedora with a couple of things on top.
