Make one for Lemmy?

Or you get a set top box and don’t worry about the trash software that comes with the tv.

I really like my newish sony tv that has a basic mode. Disables all the smart BS so it functions just as a screen. I use an Apple TV or ps5 for all content.

My newish Sony has a basic mode where it just functions as a tv. No smart bs. Picked that at setup and never looked back.

Would be great for commentary tracks too.

What sealed the deal for me was skip intro. Incredible feature I don’t believe any other option has.

Wait for lifetime memberships to go on sale if you can. There are a few sales a year. Usually on Black Friday.

Give us a link. Lets talk about it how awesome plex shares are and encourage others to share their servers 😀

Arr software for YouTube with Sponsorblock built in.

A way to use Sponsorblock on podcasts.

Whenever there is a question in the article title just assume the answer is no. Saves time and is true for clickbait like this.

A80J. The “cheaper” oled model. Watch for sales next week during prime day.

Anyone have a private tracker invite they’d share with me? Lidarr is the only arr I haven’t set up yet. Wouldn’t mind upgrading my library which I haven’t looked at since college.

IHeartradio is the worst. I have dropped off listening to podcasts I otherwise really like. Behind the bastards, anything Robert Evans does really. The ads are too bad.

To add to this, some podcasts on certain networks dynamically insert ads based on your location, any other data they have on you. so the ads may be different length for different users, further complicating this.

Definitely a difficult problem still looking for a solution. thanks for your input.

I recommend getting the kids paperwhite. Comes ad free and with a good case. Just unsub from the kids book thing if you don’t want it. Paperwhites are backlit so I can fall asleep reading at night with no other lights on. The newer ones also support dark mode and usb-c, finally!

And only buy any Amazon devices when deeply discounted like on prime day.

Looks like you still need to open the post for it to be marked as read. Not just on scroll.

But Memmy is looking a lot better than the last time I opened it up.

This will be an unpopular answer but I use Nordvpn mainly because during Black Friday sales you can get it essentially for free using a cash back portal. The start of the sale last year, which I missed, was offering over 100% cash back. They’d pay you to use it!

Others are better but if the level of protection you’re looking for is “Comcast stop sending me piracy warnings” this’ll work.

I am struggling to locate Snow Devils, the sequel to wild wild planet. I have the rest of the gamma one movies.

I don’t think it will be a great film but we love silly b-movies over here.

With plex pass it detects intros and let’s you skip them. This silly feature got me to buy a lifetime pass.

I am a big fan of isponsorblocktv which sits on a network device like a nas and skips YouTube sponsor segments on Apple TV.

Kindles support ePub now, the most common ebook format. Finally!

Amazon has a computer app Send to Kindle that makes it effortless to send eBooks to your kindle. Just grab whatever book you want from Anna’s Archive, open in send to kindle and send it to your device.

Later on you could even automate with readarr. Set it to look at your Goodreads to read list and automatically send those books to your kindle.

As a fellow Apollo refuge, check out wefwef/voyager. Really helps with the transition. Lemmy webapp heavily based on Apollo’s design.

I have Memmy installed as well but keep gravitating back to wefwef.

Whichever one gets hide on scroll first will win for me.

I do support a few to get ad free versions but these are almost nonexistent. very few podcasts do this.

They just blocked a few of the main ones. I was able to sign up from Sri Lanka last week for ~$4/mo family plan. Might meet more investigating to see where works.

Ah, I am using docker on a Synology NAS and I could never get qbit to unrar things properly. but unpackerr has been like magic. also I have been favoring TL or IPT which seems to use fewer rars. rars seem so antiquated in the modern era, hard to believe those are still used.

Anyone know where to find the Calm meditation app audio files?

I love the idea of using AI for for ad skipping. Let it do something positive instead of just our jobs in the near future.

I do wish that was more common. I have no problem with Patreon to remove the ads.

Read the original article to get the basics of the idea. But I also recommend all of his books.

I’ve found discord to be a bit of a barrier for the less tech savvy friends too. Overseerr has worked great though. Except now it’s too easy and my server has gone from meticulously curated sci-fi and horror and pretentious classic films to include all the big modern trash I don’t care to watch. Oh well.

I remember watching What the Bleep do we Know in high school. As someone who basically watched The Matrix on a loop, I would have been a likely target for right wing grifters. Luckily the Bush years thoroughly pushed me very far away from any right leaning ideology. I probably have the daily show to thank for that.

I have readarr watching my to read list in Goodreads. That’s the closest I’ve got to what you request. Perhaps you could set that up with a shared list?

Big downside, readarr only Scans once every 24 hours.

I recommend unpackerr to deal with those pesky rars.

I run 2 instances. One for ebooks and one for “spoken”.

What if I want to watch on my tv or download for offline use?

A quick googling says these are both shut down. RIP.

Same here. The electric car tech is changing so fast too. Eying the VWs but happy with my volt.

Interesting. Just need it to work on a server with an interface as effortless as sonarr.

After a long quest for an iOS and macOS rss reader with notifications I landed on NetNewsWire as the best option with no gimmicks.

bummer. I guess mine is a couple years old at this point and they closed that loophole. I hate ads and would pay more to remove them anyway though.
