Game Boys, bears, baseball

Puberty blockers aren't life long. Puberty is. These parents aren't trying to give their kids sex change operations. They're trying to give their kids a chance to make those decisions for themselves.

"Engineers have been circulating an old, famous-among-programmers web comic about how all modern digital infrastructure rests on a project maintained by some random guy in Nebraska. (In their telling, Mr. Freund is the random guy from Nebraska.)"

That's not quite right. Lasse Collin is the random guy in Nebraska. Freund is the guy that noticed the whole thing was about to topple.

Each dev kit is $450. Being able to test on an emulator is free. Sure, you ultimately want to test on hardware, but indie dev teams aren't going to shell out that kind of money for each developer. Who gives a fuck about indie developers though, right?

Top notch content. Right up there with his popcorn button on the microwave video.

They sued to get the rules changed because they said far more black students were being accepted than they thought deserving. They won. Now they're upset because the number of Asian students declined after admissions could no longer see to the applicant's race. Am I reading that right?

Because only one of them is actively serving as a US Senator for Ohio, the state in which the supposed migrant pet eating crisis is taking place. The other doesn't have a job to resign from.

Only 30+ year old cars, but a coat hanger can do that too. Soooo...

That's technically true, but it's as misleading as saying they get their search results from Yandex. Their results are aggregated from several search engines, not just Bing. They also have their own web crawler, DuckDuckBot, which absolutely respects RobotRules.

Edit: I'm told my information is out of date. No more Yandex because of Uncle Sam. Yahoo is just Bing now, so that index doesn't count anymore. The bulk of the rest of their sources are largely inconsequential specialized search engines. Their sources page states that they "largely source from Bing".

I've never understood the appeal of digital driver's licenses. If I get pulled over, there's no fucking way I'm unlocking my phone and handing it to a cop.

New Orleans doesn't have the voting power to do that. Orleans Parish was literally the only parish that went blue in that election.

Yes. So far, the CHIPS Act has resulted in $6.6b in direct funding and an additional $5b in available loans for the AZ facility.

Didn't say it was offensive. Just pointing out that you are, in fact, using a lot of social media.

Puberty blockers don't permanently prevent you from going through puberty, they delay it. You know what is permanent though, puberty.

This is just a crude early version. Eventually the tiles will be significantly smaller, quieter, and less prone to ripping toes off.

From the article you clearly didn't read:

Photography has been used in the service of deception for as long as it has existed. (Consider Victorian spirit photos, the infamous Loch Ness monster photograph, or Stalin’s photographic purges of IRL-purged comrades.)

Replace women with black people and your argument sounds exactly like the enlightened individuals arguing that baseball shouldn't be integrated even if there were black men out there good enough to play ball with white men.

Jackie Robinson absolutely understood that he would face unyielding discrimination. So did the flood of black ballplayers that followed him in the years to come. Hardship didn't deter any of them.

Good call. Put a fence on the land they bought to prevent Trump from putting a fence on the land.

You just linked to a wiki article that says country music has been around since the 1920s. That same site says a generation is 20-30 years, so 3 to 5 generations of country music.

For example, Hank Williams played country in the 40s for one generation. His son, Hank Williams Jr. played country music in the 70s for a different generation. His grandson, Hank Williams III, played country for yet another generation in the 90s. His great grandson, Coleman Williams (aka IV) plays country for today's generation.

It's probably based on Q learning, which has been around for 30+ years, and I'm guessing the star is a nod to A* because it's an optimization of some kind.

Probably has something to do with the trade restrictions on certain chips.

The vast majority of states limit who has access to death certificates.

Not saying you're wrong, but she had a baby at 14 that shares the rapist's DNA. I don't think there's any doubt he did it.

Apple wants to cut down on counterfeiting. The US wants to prevent supply chain issues and reduce reliance on foreign chip production. The wiki article on the CHIPS Act is a pretty good overview: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHIPS_and_Science_Act

I think they're giving you shit for using github.

I don't see how this is pro Trump. It's an article about how Trump's DOJ did unethical things when prosecuting the people protesting Trump's inauguration.

You caught me. I'm biased against people who play Word Cookies.

Well in the particular state in which she lived, New York, it is not public record.

Those videos are staged. The signal playback trick doesn't work on newer cars because the code changes every time you lock or unlock your car. You could probably replicate the functionality of a key fob on your Flipper, but it would need to be registered with the car's computer the same as any other key fob, which means you'd already have to have to access to the car.

Never seen that before today and now I've seen it twice. Was just thinking that 'opens new tab' was an odd name for one of the plaintiffs in the Anthropic lawsuit.

It's ugly for sure, but I think the biggest barrier to entry is the shortcut keys. Blender's Industry Standard mode makes it a lot easier for Maya users to switch. Something similar for Photoshop users would kill.

When has a cop ever approached your car with an NFC reader?

My little brother was expelled from school in 1st grade for drawing a gun (which looked far more like a banana) and pointing it at another kid. That was in rural Alabama in 2000. Nothing new here.

Yes, trans men can and do compete with cis men. It's not talked about as much because the concern is usually about fairness, and those concerns just aren't there with trans men. If you're not able to transition when other boys are going through puberty, you're always going to be behind on muscle mass, and taking extra hormones to catch up is going to get you banned from competing for the same reason taking steroids will get a cis man banned.

Also, why are you putting women in quotes?

Says 1-bit then goes on to describe inputs as -1, 0, or 1. That's 2-bit. Am I missing something here?
