They almost got me with preorder last night, but I was like nah I'll just wait and see in the morning. I love how i've been reading for weeks that "it's good they made fast travel hard", like preparing us for a fast travel MTX. Or it's the greatest character creator of all time, but to edit after you have to spend more money - the game is basically $100 canadian. Absurd.

No real way to tell, but I don't think it would be immediately noticeable on Reddit. Like the satisfying "we killed reddit" probably isn't going to happen. On the other hand, being here clearly have discoverd the Fediverse as replacement, so IMO it doesn't matter what happens to Reddit now. (Not to say the drama/any issues Reddit ends up with won't be endlessly entertaining)

I bet the new one also feels a bit more empty inside.

Definitely interested. Hello Games may have stumbled on the NMS launch, but they've more than proven themselves since then!

Crazy that what was considered to be a global superpower is resorting to these kind of jerry rigged attacks.

I've been enjoying Starfield - but the empty planets suck, especially without vehicles. The scanning thing is boring and dumb, worse than trying to get 100% on a NMS world. It's a shame that fast travel disconnects you from the space feel of the game, but it makes the rest of the game playable. I like the game overall, but they have definitely dropped the ball on space travel. In theory it'd be cool to come across different "dungeons" etc, as in Skyrim when wandering around, but doesn't happen in Starfield because you're generally not going to happen upon them. It's not interesting to drop down to random planets.

I don't think there are any airlines that aren't on my no-fly list at this point. (Actually decided to do a rather long drive for this years vacation between the cost of air travel, and the nonsense)

Just cancelled my XBox Ultimate Game Pass...bunch of nonsense.

IDK why but colored toilet paper seems wrong somehow.

Oh that's not going to cause any conspiracy theories at all lol!

I hate it when YT slowly boxes you into a corner with like the same couple of channels and a bit of nonsense for good measure. And then it starts recommending videos you've already watched for so reason. I mean how many millions of hours are uploaded everyday? Is there nothing else you can show me?

I'm content with my ~120 hours played so far even if I don't play again. But I probably will, especially with mods or future content. It doesn't quite have the build flexibility of an elder scrolls game though. Hopefully they'll add more variants to the bases etc. Generally happy if a game has 40 hours of gameplay and there's easily 40 hours of content in Starfield.

The NG+ stuff is interesting but after playing it a bunch it's both a plus and a minus, like it's neat to have the options there, but also might've been better to start actual new characters.

Up to 87 hours warts and all. Have played through some great quests. Also found plenty of bugs and annoyances, but overall it's great. The random procedural quests are a nice addition, a call back to Daggerfall. The space combat is an ok addition. Bases are the big waste of time here, but you don't really need to do one. There are lots of nice shoutouts to your character after doing certains quests, including NG+. (Few things that don't make sense, and they could've pushed it farther - ::: spoiler spoiler like does it makes sense to join the Crimson Fleet in the Razorleaf, better to have cut out that questline for that play thru IMO ::: ) Overall quite satisifed and i'm enjoying it a lot. I can see getting to 100 hours easily without mods.

So Russian need a special militiary operation to de-nazify themselves now?

It's a way to communicate what you expect from a game not some conspiracy to brand all Japanese RPGs lol. Like saying a game is a soulslike or roguelike. I mean Elden Ring is sort of an RPG and never heard anyone call it a JRPG. For JRPG I expect, anime art style, party system, turn based combat, probably a lot of drama lol.

I just know what she's saying too "we you have a free moment i need to talk to you"

Yeah started finding some neat stuff as I go further out. It's not that it's not there, it's just that you don't tend to stumble upon it. Like I'll go to a planet do a mission open up and scan and see some POI like 1200m away. Now do I really want to tedious run over empty nothingness to see if it's like a space hut or another pirate base etc? I definitely check out nearby POI especially if they are on the way to where i need to go. (Still having fun in the game though and I guess later having options to at least poke around in new places will be fun and i'm curious if the critters are fixed or procedural, like will there be variants all over or just the same few species)

But...Facebook isn't dead. I mean it's dead to me, but it's still going quite strong.

My google news feed is like all Starfield now - getting ridiculous and i'm expecting by tomorrow will be like "Should you make french toast and eat it while playing Starfield?"

Thank you for ordering with DineGPT! Your order of fried dogs with extra hair is on it's way!

Wow those subs are glorious xD. Makes me think what if no one blacked out etc, just completely stop moderating.

Yes i have basically replaced Reddit at this point, other than if google search comes up with something I need.

Yeah that's a cruise missile I thought?

Ideology. Like adopting a strict ideology and then refusing to hear anything from any other ideology. Like sometimes Capitalism is the solution, sometimes Socialism or Government intervention is the solution. Usually it's a mixture of both. But no we must divide strictly into our little boxes and demonize anything else.

And of course social political issues which are bound up into ideology no matter if it makes sense or not. Of course that is the wedge used to divide people while the powers that be fill their pockets. By all means let's all argue about who gets to use what bathroom while food becomes unaffordable and housing becomes a pipe dream.

I just talked to a guy who was facing away from me, well his head was looking at the wall while his body was pointed at me. It was..disconcerting..(and amusing!)

Seems like a normal thing, maybe slight preferrential treatment, but even going to prison for a year in her position is going to be humiliating and a real wake up call. I find people throw around numbers of years for offenses saying this should be at least 15 or 20 or whatever. But think about 10 years gone even...like that's a lot of time for someone to lose. So you've gone from media darling and the crazy lifestyle of the rich to prison, and now despite her trying every trick in the book to get out of it, it's just a 9 or 10 years thing to look forward to. So if it should be longer or not at least it's something. I know people have gone to jail for longer for less, but that also shouldn't happen. And then some people should probably just never get out because they are a danger to society and will never be rehabilitated.

My pillow is so thin my wife is like "well just put a towel in the pillowcase"

Shrinkflation and possibly exstential dread I don't have the same life experience of a tube of chips!

You volunteering to reach in and clean out the stuff in the little hatch? xD

What ever happened with Meta and the tech company that already existed called Meta? (Just remembered that now) edit: looks like they settled

My body's just a flesh vessel for an immortal being whose name if you heard it would make you lose your mind.

Last AAA game i think I played was Elden Ring which was great; most of the rest I can't stand. I hate the 2 hours of cutscene/intro nonsense that most seem to have. I hate MTX, even if you don't need to use them in theory; the fact that they are there means the game design will be pushed in a direction to get you to buy them. Also hate season passes or battle passes. (Sure a full DLC is fine, not like adding bits and pieces here and there and everywhere)

Thank god for steam and indie games that I can dump hours into (and Minecraft, and Vintage Story). Heh i noticed my Slay the Spire passed 900 hours (a bunch of that would be the game sitting there while i did other things, but still).

Sniping pirates and leaving them sitting in odd poses is oddly sad. Sometimes they freeze in place sitting on a couch or whatever. Low G has some weird stuff going on when you kill someone too, although watching dead bodies slowly float down is a neat touch.

"now that's a scary number!" /em drags into box

Basically if i'm playing on my iPad it's probably Slay the Spire. (Works on phone too, but i find it rather small).

I have an XBox One S (and a PC) - really hits home when in Game Stop with my kids and they were looking around (mainly for figures and such), and i'm like "there's nothing for me here". Of course I haven't bought a physical PC title in over 10 years now that I think of it. I feel for the shop owners, they haven nothing for me to buy and I used to like going to shop around. Come to think of it I used to go to book stores quite often too, but not since i got my first kindle.

I did recently re-buy an Xbox 360 and it is kind of nice to browse second hand shops and such and just pickup a game that I can just play without internet etc.

Good old fashioned manufactured cringe meme!

New Titan Quest and now a Grim Dawn expansion \o/
