Fun fact: tetanus comes from dirt, not rust. But it has to get into your blood and typically that only happens when you get pierced by a piece of dirty metal, which will typically be rusty if it's in that situation.

Correct. If you take a totally clean, disinfected nail, stick it in some lab grade brine until it gets rusty, and then stab yourself with it, there is a 0% chance of getting tetanus.

You could technically have tetanus on something without it being covered in dirt. My point is tetanus bacteria lives in the dirt. But the rust has nothing to do with it other than making the metal more likely to cut or pierce you.

People tend to think the rust is what causes it.

I got a bit hypoxic on top of a mountain. It was 29°F with the wind you'd expect at 14000ft, and I'm just standing there in a t-shirt because I was just so nice and warm, also I was so loopy I could not stop laughing.

This article has as much substance to it as a saltine cracker.

Among higher than average users it seemingly was. Given that reddit was saying the third party apps were using above average amounts of API calls per user. They said it's because of the 3PAs baing unoptimized but it was likely that more engaged users used 3PAs.

How can you have a name like that and not have it changed to remove the c and the r? Electra Shock

That has to be it. They got drawn in by the beautiful shade of blue they make and gave everybody the experience of welding for 12 hours using only safety squints and a t-shirt.

And for everyone that doesn't know, UVC radiation is the bad kind of radiation (ionizing).

I feel like that's going to bite them in the ass.

Next time they say some lands is sacred it'll be "Ok but you also said that about the fucking moon."

Also, Indigenous where? Because it aint limited to NA, everybody is going to have some ancestor that worshiped the moon.

You are if dad says you are. Totally legal if your parents are with in my state.

A big hole in homeland security is railway engineer screening and hijacking prevention. There is nothing to stop a rogue engineer, or an ISIS terrorist, from driving a train into the Pentagon, the White House or the Statue of Liberty, and our government has done fuck-all to prevent it.

10 minute drive (where I live) is typically 6-10 miles. Average walking speed is 3mph so you're talking over 2hrs. I had to do it once on a tractor and it sucked, and that was doing 10-14mph.

Or re-commission the USS Kidd and hoist the black flag again.

In addition to that. It's probably mocking these places where it asks if you want to leave a tip when you didn't see a single employee your entire visit. Or counter service/fast food etc.

If you’ve only known stairs your whole life, a lift would seem like a teleportation device.

I once talked to a guy on Reddit who had a version of this turned up to 11.

I don't remember the exact times so I'll guess but it'll get the point across.

He boarded the New York Subway at 8:42am September 11, 2001, and got off at 8:50am.

Dude was just having a normal day walking onto that train and the next station was in a totally different dimension.

And in addition to all of that. That plane was more than capable of doing an engine out landing in areas you can see in his video. But within seconds of issues he desides to pull back on the stick (to stop the prop for drama) and decides to jump out. He does no troubleshooting or looking for an appropriate landing site even though several good locations can be seen.

Even if you had to crash land, that plane can go slow enough that it's a better option than jumping out. Skydiving into the wilderness isn't a great idea.

My HTPC has accounts in chrome on there for each member of the family. All are configured the same with ublock origin but only one is getting the popups.

Should just be opening a valve. There's no mixture to get right like with the injection. Just 100% nitrogen.

Photovoltaic doesn't require water. What are you talking about?

is there a risk of the battery going kaboom!!!

Is it really a risk if it's a guarantee?

If you smell a chemical smell while that's in your pocket you better drop your fucking pants and run, if you even get that much warning.

I intentionally made a swollen battery go off and that was fireworks level violent and it had a jet of pink flame that went on for quite a while.

Starting in 2012 ICANN started introducing a bunch of new ones partly so there's more addresses and also so that the names can better express the purpose of the site.

I'd expect the crushed up bones of their enemies to be more of a Finnish thing. Which is also why I'm glad they're on our side.

So, as an example. The Honda CBR650R is $9,899.

You can absolutely abuse that for thousands of miles.

There's plenty of knowledge about the effects of nitrogen from it being a workplace hazard in a lot of places.

One example is anchor chain lockers on ships. That big iron chain that just came out of the salt water wants to turn into iron oxide so it absorbs all the oxygen making the environment extremely nitrogen rich. In several cases people have been climbing down into it and without warning go unconscious. I think one case had three dead at the bottom before the fourth guy comes along with some brains and thinks maybe I shouldn't go down there.

Yeah but Tetanus is caused by a specific bacteria called Clostridium Tetani and I don't know how it would find its way to a random thumb tack, inside a building.

Watch christians and catholics ignore everything this bullshit artist says.

Just going to point out Catholics are the only ones who give a damn about the pope. Protestansts view it as idol worshiping, kinda the whole point of Protestantism.

It's accurate or close to it.. Some concrete truck drivers will keep bottles of coke to pour in there in emergencies where they need to make sure it doesn't set inside the truck.

That guy on the rented jet ski managed it.

No, you make an account on that piped instance.

You just gotta add a sign that says "Warning: trapping wild animals without a license is illegal. This trap is for feral cats only. Any wild animals found in this trap will be shot on sight."

No, the Fire TV Stick is a streaming stick. The Fire TV is a TV with the stick built in and it makes you go through the Amazon Fire UI to do normal TV things as well.

I think it's more that it's text and people can apply whatever tone they want to it. I had to read it first like you're implying, realized it wasn't meant that want and then read it again with the other tone to make sure it fit.

I love operating heavy machinery as long as I don't have to get out/off the heavy machinery.

If I have to get off to fix it when it breaks then I'm unhappy.

Using an airconditioned tractor for literally anything, fun. Unjamming the fucking hay bailer when it's over 100F and 95% humidity and there's dust everywhere, not fun.

Two jokes I can make out of this. Which could dig at either US or EU/UK

  1. I paid for it, I'm gonna show it off.

  2. Have you seen the British?

Which is why "spurious emission" is the proper term to use.

The point where you can call it a "radiation hazard" when talking about RF is if it's at the point where RF Burns are a possibility which a phone is just not capable of.

Devils advocate: at least in the US they need to get rid of the thing that says sleeping in your car in the parking lot of the bar is a DUI.

That's literally a person doing the responsoble thing but the pigs can't help but salivate over the easy DUI they can add to their "not-a-quota".

It encourages people to drive drunk when they might have slept it off in the car because there's a chance you get away with it, whereas sleeping in the car at the bar is a guaranteed DUI.

This is why my typical line of thought with these sorts of things is to assume everything the police say is a lie until there's dashcam or bodycam video proving otherwise.

There was no fireball, he probably had just a small amount of fuel and shut off the valves before bailing, but we don't know because he had the plane helilifted out and destroyed, destroying the evidence. In his video he went to the plane after to get his gopros, and it's just kinda smushed. If there was a fireball it probably would have started a wildfire, which is part of the reason he's going to jail.

They won a stupid prize for playing a stupid game.

It's kinda like the uncanny valley though. For the most part it's so accurate/detailed that the parts that aren't really stand out.
