Absolutely, and it's been very refreshing to see discussion get broader and be filled with memes and other interesting content.

It will take a while to get somewhere close to Reddit, but if we talk about how it feels, I see it getting closer and closer day by day.

Former lurker checking in, trying to take this new start on Lemmy as a way to participate more and hopefully contribute a bit, I wonder how many will do the same coming from reddit.

Step 1: Announce very unpopular changes Step 2: Ignore backlash, go through with the plan Step 3: Predictably, lose users and advertisers Step 4: ???? Step 5: Why advertise on reddit?

Exactly, we're not defined by our relationship with Reddit.

I really don't get this trend of turning everything into a video. Is it supposed to be easier to consume?

I would much rather read an article and get the information I want at the pace I want.

You can absolutely feel how much bigger it got, and it feels more and more populated every day.

I've been here only one week and the change has been so obvious.

The whole doctrine is nonsensical and full of contradictions, but you're not supposed to ask questions, or use logic..

Gain a monopoly, get users addicted and reliant, then change the rules of the game and hope they stick with you. It's happening now because of the economy for sure, but it's not like it's surprising.

Apes together strong.

If the attention this post is getting isn't a strong indicator of what our communities want, and the direction that the fediverse and all instance admins should follow, then nothing will be.

Especially now, because of the extra obstacles of joinin the fediverse, users are on average more aware of the implications of such a thing. We should listen our people.

Same, I tried to move to Signal a couple years ago, but I couldn't get anybody except one friend to follow, so I gave up on it. I would try again, but I know it wouldn't go any different, yet.

Don't eat beef. Eat bean.

I kept reading of this so I went and had a look. It's a bit worse than usual, and I saw the Doordarsh posts, but nothing else: this isnt a catastrophic end, it's just continuing on its slow decline as it has already bean for a while now.

Sublemminal messages

I have to say I also watch videos in background while doing other stuff, but that doesn't make it a better medium to convey information, just more practical when the information is not important enough to be the main focus of someone's attention, and that's pretty subjective.

But I do get the point, I just wish it was different.

Their entire religion is threatened by modern times changing and people no longer caring about a fairy in the sky. This is just a dying beast lashing out.

Missed chance to call it Broccolatte.

Don't tell me what not to tell you!

That frog's about to do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

I see Lemmy and the fediverse more as an evolution of how we approach the web. We should absolutely cater to more casual users eventually, and try to have as many people as possible to leave behind these greedy internet monopolies. We clearly saw that they're not the way to go.

How we get there is a bit of a question mark, it's clear that there's a big push from more involved/aware users to break away from big corporations. This doesn't mean we're building on outrage, just that it was the initial push to get something new started.

Ah fuck, back to the drawing board!

Is it? Or is it a can of magic flatulence nuggets?

I'm very curious to see what the actual impact will be tomorrow

How will enjoying the internet look like in the future? Lots of things we took for granted clearly weren't, and now we're used to a kind of internet that might just not be sustainable.

I guess things aren't looking too good.

Mind blowing!

I've been thinking of getting a telescope but I'm afraid I'd not be able to use it outside of taking trips out of the city, for the light pollution.

I haven't been following anything regarding Threads so I assumed it was out here in Europe too, it's actually a relief that it isn't. Won't stay long like this, but it's something.
