A fantastic job is being done by you folks - obviously in the face of adversity. Given the amount of users on the instance is at a critical point, would it not be possible to 'move' accounts off it onto other less populated instances ?

Keep up the great work folks - I sympathise for ya.

Absolutely no issues at all on lemm.ee from the day reddit killed 3rd party apps - using boost now.

If you're not getting a full text feed for articles try changing your feed app (assuming android). I'm using handy News reader (flymm fork on F-droid). It retrives the full article text for all my feeds.

I had the same feeling last week on seeing soo many cross posts from reddit.

As the original thread is taking place elsewhere, there seems no point in posting any comments into the lemmy version of it, or for that matter even seeing it.

I thought we were leaving reddit behind - not dragging it with us.

Alternatively, if this is an attempt to archive all the good stuff, shouldn't the bot bring the comments too?

I'm confused - why are they now attacking Lebanon? I thought their beef was with Hamas.

I'll fuckin bet someone came out singing ! Why do we allow this to continue to happen to penny shareholders? And workers alike.

Frost is the one I use (on F-droid). I like the interface.

Edit: forgot to add it's a wrapper.

I'm dreading replacing my dumb tv, but can confirm that the nvidia shield was the best thing I ever bought for entertainment: just sideload your apps and off you go.

Take the cable out of the tv, plug it into your android box and hdmi to the tv.

Can recommend STN, cloudstream and plex.

Good luck.

Not OP but moved all my stuff onto hosted Nextcloud, so using Nextcloud photos app. Just as good and no ads.

Who would have thought they'd lie to us - shocking! /s

Welcome to rss. My favourites aren't exactly personal - more long reads and insightful news items with some depth - 'theConversation'.

Good luck in your quest

Joplin syncs with Nextcloud - Orgzly does too. Agreed, Jtxboard does - via davx5.

I'm currently using obsidian synced via syncthing. I know it's not Nextcloud, but it works well and has a nice interface and lots of plug-ins - even on Android. It might be able to sync - not bothered trying to yet - if anyone has, please comment.

Good luck with your search.

Who gives a fucking shit about x fucking twitter? - let's hope it crashes along with reddit !

PS cross post all the good stuff onto lemmy first - then just let it burn and sink!

That's a fucking ridiculous loss of human lives - irrespective of the side they're fighting - shame! Fucking wake up these people and just stop killing each other !

Thanks. That's my main issue - trying to re-install apps from foss repos. If nothing is available then I guess - as you say, I'll just have to write them all down and go through them one by one. Not to even mention when I replace this aged phone.

Thanks for making it clear - I misunderstood the problem.

Pretty sure that's a skill too - probably confuses attackers who try to pre-empt your movements.

Leather strop for sharpening

I'm genuinely curious here - really? As someone who always has to mess with the old fashioned 'steel' (mind your hands cus there's no guard on it!) sharpener, are they better? Honestly, heard of them, never used but interested.

Funny, but I see soo many kids walking to school with their worldly belongings in their back packs! Worse is they're hanging soo low - at least get a hip strap. Life lessons I guess. In my day we had lockers in the school.

and my PC at home would have it downloaded automatically before I even got home.

Hi, could you please explain how you got this to happen? Thanks.

Thanks. I couldn't get plex to run from 'off site', it was probably something that I wasn't doing properly.

I'm not sure if it was the vpn or not, but it never connected even though I set the tunnelling like it said.

Quite right, AP do have rss news feeds (rsshub is one - amongst others) - there are posts on lemmy related to this topic.

I second Severance - excellent show. I'm adding Carnivale into the mix here.

A new one for me - looks very interesting, thanks.

I wasn't even aware lemmy had tags. Never used it on pc.

Never a truer word spoken - > you can always tell a person by the company they keep.

Heard that when I was a teenager.

Handy News Reader (F-droid).

Thaks for the oxyclear tip and yeah, loading the fire up initially is something I struggle with - it stays in our it goes out. I'll try that loading fashion - cheers.

Yeah, gotta admit to jumping back onto it a few times - purely because of the wealth of information. But I do have to agree with you that the quality of chat seems to be declining.

Lemmy is definately a better quality place to be, but if people don't post - only to a fraction of communities, it's in danger of becoming too focused on just a few topics.

What I don't understand is: some niche communities started getting interest, then the interest waned - did people leave, did they go back to reddit (and why after leaving) or did they find a better place to go (if so where)?

I'm sticking with lemmy for now - with fingers crossed!

Edit: I'm using connect.

Looks interesting, I'll read the git as you suggested - thanks.

I did, thanks for the info.

Both these projects look really good - are there any android alternatives to obsidian or notion?

Great, I'll repost, thanks. What's a mesh network btw?

Thanks for the reply - saved the github and discord links so will check them out soon.

Emby sounds interesting, thanks.

Hi, apologies for the delay in replying and thanks for the advice - I've been following it this weekend after getting some more logs.

So far it's working well - I'm on top-down (Scandinavian) method - gets a really nice fire going quick and heats up the flue pretty quickly too. Your tip on getting a moisture tester: I'm gonna follow up soon when I get paid. I get that it's going to be pretty useful.

I got the two controls mixed up: left being main air vent (which I now keep open until the fire gets red hot) and the right (which I used to keep closed all the time) and now leave open. So, it's running pretty nice now, my next challenge is keeping it going! I got some complaints that the room was going cold so I'm not sure if leaving the logs to go to embers was leaving it too late before putting more logs on.

Again, thanks for the heads up, this is a learning curve for us, but I really appreciate the help.

I agree, there does appear to be a few issues atm. Hoping they'll get sorted soon.

Indeed, growing pains - and we're all getting to make sense of it all. I can only speak for myself, but at times I find this change confusing. Thanks.

Can that be found anywhere in the android app - or is it desktop only?
