Pharma companies would already have a caffeine equivalent that would be only slightly different in structure so it would circumvent the law. It would then be sold at exorbitant prices and people would still pay even with the side effect of sometimes you eat someone's face. Of course they would then sell you something else to stop the side effects. You would also have the caffeine purists who would start their own speak easies and organized crime. People "abiding by the law" would start calling the purist, plants, since that is where caffeine is coming from, while the synthetic caffeine users would be called zombies for the obvious face eating reasons. This whole thing would cause even greater divides between already split countries leading to all out war. WWIII plants vs zombies.

I used to have 2 sugar gliders. Very high maintenance pets. They are very social and will get depressed without enough attention. They are also group animals and when you get them you adapt them to your scent as the "home tree". This means you being gone for let's say a vacation or something will stress them out to the extreme. Since they are basically wild animals they have a very strict diet you also need to maintain, on top of them being picky eaters, can't really give them the same food more than 2 days in a row or they won't eat it. They often take a bite or two of food before throwing it and going for a new piece.
All that being said they can be very fun and loving animals. They live a long time and are quite smart. Their little hands look like people's thumbs and all and they LOVE untying knots and anything plastic that crinkles. Had them through college and had a tapestry on every wall so it was fun letting them run around the apartment free and climbing where ever. Always a good laugh when someone was over and didn't know they were out. They would lead across the room to get back to me or the cage and seeing someone freak out as they saw something dive bombing them out of their peripheral never got old. My favorite thing about them was this demonic noise called crabbing that they make when they are scared or upset.

Not OP but the issue isn't creating the space, but creating content in that space. Growing a community is a lot of work. Unless you already have some strong engagement and or a few people creating content it's really just up to you to keep making post until the community gets more traction. Most people like the idea of starting the new community but not the work it requires as it often just feels like yelling into the void.

Does everyone else I know remember me as male and now I am female or am I waking up in a world where this is normal for everyone but me?

What this person is trying to say is they are exponentially better at being technically correct.

Haha thanks. Wrote it drinking my morning cup of coffee.

When did fortnite become a subscription based system? Are you talking about the battle pass they have for a season? Or am I just behind on the times?

It's not that Gen X didn't care, it was that no one else cared. You do have a name, it's the Forgotten Generation.
"Generation X often is referred to as the forgotten generation, sandwiched between the large and culturally powerful Baby Boomer and Millennial generations."

My orginal pokemon blue save file and the 151 (152 if you count missing no) from my childhood. They are all just chilling and hoping that maybe one day I'll come back and play with them like the good old days when we were masters.

You pay for no ads through Spotify, but a podcast is sponsored they place ads in their cast unrelated to Spotify. I know how shitty that sounds and is, but it's probably the only way those pods are making money.

With an opinion like that you sound like a teen trying to pass for someone old and wise. Love takes many forms and does not exclusively apply to romantic relationships, or people.

I haven't played Starfield, but saying you put it down for D4 is all I need to know. Cant even imagine the repetition of that game if D4 was your break from repetition.

Printing and painting minis and other things

Don't they know you're supposed to take it outside or wait for after class. You don't just throw down in the middle of the room.

That's why God had to release part 2 of the bible, cuz he's such a dick in the first book. Also why Satan rebranded as Santa.

Hope you boopped that snoot

Yea. I think key words are restrict sales. Sure WV doesn't have to sell them, but they can't stop people from getting it elsewhere, at least not with this ruling.

So when are they going to start kicking people planes for screaming babies

They asked for role models, not just any random green flags.

I was being serious! I was only responding to messages in the inbox and made the original post before yours so I didn't see it. Sorry to make you repeat yourself.

Have bronchitis. Got this weird dose schedule for meds, but it's crazy how much better I feel just 12 hours after starting them.

Doom scrolling wasn't there in the early days of reddit. Lemmy is still new. I think people just had high hopes and expectations that lemmy would be a 1 to 1 replacement for reddit, but that was never going to happen. Reddit has had years to grow and optimize while lemmy is just a fledgling with a niche user base.

Also I think lemmy is missing that hook or gimmick to get, for lack of better words, the attention seekers here that will make posts and content just for upvotes or to show up on everyone's front page. Not saying lemmy needs to be reddit, but I do think it needs a little extra something than just being a decentralized reddit alternative.

Policy updated yesterday where you can't opt out of data farming. They are openly stating that they are selling targeted data about every link you click on, sub you subscribe to, anything you up and down vote. Not that I don't think they weren't doing this in some fashion already, but the option isn't even there anymore. They aren't trying to hide it and are basically gaslighting people and trying to tell them it's actually a good thing you can't opt out.

How are you not going to give a shout out to your community?!

Not sure where you got that people were threatened by your comment. If it has to do with your score, it's because it's a very narrow view, context had nothing to do with it. You shared your opinion I shared mine. Saying people feel threatened or that we didn't understand the context because we didnt agree is exactly the point I'm making when it feels like you are a young person trying to pass for an older one.

A little bit of searching and I found this...Spotify Premium reserves the right to insert ads on exclusive podcasts, and ones that they produce/own. Ads will never be inserted into music streaming.

My best guess would be that since they allow ads for podcasts, they are throwing in Spotify pushed ads on podcasts they own. Do you happen to know if it's specific podcasts? I would probably unsubcribe if I was randomly getting ads. The only other thing I found was people still getting ads when they were using air play, but that was a desync bug.

Phat

I tried to keep some things vague so people could have fun with rules like hat immortality. I wonder if boredom is too strict. I guess we'll see.

Just an fyi Webster definition of evangelism: the winning or reawakening of personal commitments to Jesus. The google definition: the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness.

You might not have meant it like that, but I assume most people will take it at face value of those definitions.

It's not about the adds, it's about personalized data collection and selling it to whoever wants it. It has nothing to do with seeing adds or if they are personalized to you. Say you are someone with an addiction problem and come here to talk about it, or seek help/guidance. Do you want that being sold to whoever pays a few bucks.

What about a woman who had a miscarriage, or was raped and had to get an abortion. That data on you is now being sold and not just as a general data point of we have X many people on this sub or w.e. It's RampageDon had an abortion and has been on this sub for X minutes making X posts a day. Ublock isn't stopping that or the revenue they will get selling it.

Mix of both. Some probably got paid to go there and lobby for said company or product. Others are probably thinking of potential jobs for after. We all know private sectors always pay more than government jobs.

I don't think you will need much evangelism unless you are a christian based sub. Agree with all the other points though it's not a if you build it they will come situation.
