A long time ago, I worked in a computer repair shop. An old lady brought in her desktop for malware removal. It was a nicely spec’d machine, and included an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700.

At the time, I had a Core 2 Duo E6600, I was on a tight budget, and was big into gaming.

“She’ll be fine.” “She doesn’t even know what’s in there now.” “She’s not using it to its full potential…”

I convinced myself it was a victimless crime.

I swapped the processors. :(

A few years ago, I wondered why that was and googled it. I came to an Advil site with an expandable FAQ, and one of the questions was “why does Advil taste sweet?”

So I expanded it out to reveal this shocking answer (or something similar): “Advil tastes sweet because it is lightly coated in sugar.”

My manager introduced me at a company picnic to the guy who hired him years ago. We no longer worked in his org, but he was still someone who my boss admired. The guy had already had a few drinks and reached out to shake my hand. On my way to shake his, he happened to glance at my badge (I forgot I even still had it on) and noticed I’m a contractor.

“Oh, you’re a contractor?” As he immediately withdraws his hand. “Are you at least working to go full-time?”

He literally never shook my hand. It’s been over a year and I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. What a dick.

Wow, reading that article, you really get a sense for what a positive impact he had on the world. Such a shame he couldn’t comfortably live the life he deserved.

These days, sadly, just sit on my couch and watch fuckin TV. I’m just so beaten from work and everything that I just have no interest in much anything else.

Ok, did these “hoverboard” things make a sudden comeback? As I remember, they were here, then started catching fire when charging, and then disappeared. Now today, I saw a couple kids riding them, then several miles away, more kids using them, and now this post.

Seems like it, but I’m pretty sure it’s too little, too late. Sure hope I’m wrong, though.

Man, you’re right. And here I was thinking “wow, 15% is more than I expected.” What a sad realization that is.

This is finally it for me. I just can’t justify this any longer and will need to dedicate myself to running some flavor of Linux permanently as my daily driver.

I’m not even mad. Feels like being home.

This is what I have been hoping for, but it hasn’t happened. Went to the doc, went to the specialist, got the diagnosis. Got some prescriptions, literally no impact. None.

I ran out of my 10mg adderall XR in November but haven’t felt super compelled to go back to my doc for a refill since the month or so I was taking it had literally no effect. Also tried intuniv to no effect. I dunno. Feel kinda let down by it. I was happy when I got the diagnosis because I thought I’d be on my way to medications that could help. Been almost a year since I started that journey and I’m still in the same place.

I’m happy for you, and very envious.
