That there's notorious war criminals still alive such as Henry Kissinger that probably won't face any repercussions for their atrocities in their lifetimes.

Also there are billionaires and politicians in power that could easily at least start switching to clean energy and plastic alternatives but choose not to.

What other art focused Masto instances do people recommend? .art seems to get involved in a lot of drama and I'm getting tired of it.

"What did the culture and society at the time treat as no big deal?" Are they aware that even at the time at lot of people thought Columbus was an asshole? Even when not including the natives.

Most people should at least try to limit their meat consumption IF POSSIBLE. I mostly mean avoiding stuff like McDonalds and maybe limiting it to at least a couple times a week. I'm not expecting everyone to be able to cut it out completely.

Not a rule, but some stupid thing that was allowed to slip by for way too long.

My highschool's firewall would often block the most innocuous websites, but that somehow did not include Pornhub. While they did eventually add it in, by that point it had been a known thing for years with even multiple cases of students going on it during classes.

Instances being defederated over things like petty drama. Unless it's one that's actively allowing nasty content or people, I don't think that should be the first course of action like some admins seem to treat it as.

A game like the mainline Sims series, but better developed and without EA's involvement. I'm aware there's projects like Life By You and Paralives, but neither of those are publicly playable as of now, and until they release there's no way to truly tell if they'll actually be any good.

Although at this point I don't think they can be much worse than the current status quo.

Been steadily moving things over to Proton. Originally got it for the VPN, then eventually started to use it as a replacement for gmail when applicable.

This reminds me of an AITA post where a woman did volunteer work in some African country, and while there the people she was "helping" were calling her an Amharic name they claimed meant "generous one" or something along those lines. This eventually lead to her naming her baby that, only to later find out from the OP of the Reddit post that it was their equivalent of "bitch".

Why you should probably do some Googling first if you ever decide to give your kid some horrifically unique name.

And I bet Alfred Nobel is still rolling in his grave for that considering the whole reason he proposed the Nobel Prizes.

For me I have rules I set for myself when pirating, and generally try to reserve it for if it's something I'm unlikely to see or get otherwise (like how stuff is exclusive to a million different streaming services now, or older games that don't have an official re-release) or there's ethical reasons I don't want to support it (Like some EA stuff and Adobe, though so far the only [arguably] accessible PC games I've pirated are the Sims 3 and 4)

If it's indie stuff and [non-text]books I try to avoid it if possible.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and include furry instances provided there's enough of a sfw community since a lot of my art could be considered that, but I'd prefer a decently active general art community if possible.

MSG is naturally in certain foods too, like tomatos and seaweed.

Not really, but less because of changing appearances and more due to having to deal with the health issues that come along with it. Also, I feel like the human lifespan is way too short including even the best case scenarios with our current technology, but that may change in the future.

r/thomastheplankengine, which is a community for making memes based on dreams you've had. And there's another one but I can't recall it rn.

It's not nearly as complex as it initially looks imo, but I also play with a million mods some of which make the game needlessly complicated so maybe the vanilla game just looks simple in comparison to me now lol

Going inside of it obviously

Will Balder's Gate 3 patchnotes become the new Sims 3 patchnotes?

Tankies taking over left wing subs.

I'm trying out socel.net if you're still looking? They say it's animation focused but all visual art is welcomed. I only just joined so idk a whole lot about it though, or if it's any better in terms of drama.

Some random ones I've had over the years:

-I got shot up by Winnie the Pooh, and while waking up in the hospital he showed up in a nurse's outfit and threw me across the room

-I went to a hospital owned by Amazon to get a cancerous brain tumor removed. Regular hospitals were reserved for the rich despite also being cheaper. After they put me under, where I had to fill out a poll in another dream, I woke up in a battle royale arena unable to speak.

-Jewish people could turn into fruit

-I was ProZD who was also a penguin, and scientists tortured me by forcing me to watch fish be improperly seasoned

-I quoted Margarete Thatcher and someone replied "Wise words for someone without a spine"

-My sister's friend died, so we had a "Fun-eral" which was having a scavenger hunt with finding her body parts in a forest

(NSFW) ::: spoiler spoiler -I was walking through the woods and I come across a field with a bunch of people fucking. There's this one guy and girl, and when the guy... you knows, she gets launched into the sky like a bottle rocket. I did not see her fall back down.

-I was in a fancy art museum that was somehow in Sonic Adventure 2, and those infamous gay furry erotic rat paintings from a 1992 art auction video where on display.

Stopped Facebook years ago, stopped Reddit because of the API changes, and now trying to stop Twitter except for maybe posting art.

I'm mostly on Tumblr now, but I'm also trying some newer social sites such as here, Cohost, Inkblot (more art focused), and Masto.

Probably did a better job than some Americans.

Closest thing I can think of is No Man's Sky VR? But I get the feeling that might not be quite what you're looking for.

I lost half my progress in Half Life Alyx recently due to what I suspect is an issue related to cloud saving. I am on Windows though, not Linux.

For me, maybe this even if I made one of the characters a little too big. And an Artfight attack I thought came out alright for more recent stuff.

Ah, well this isn't someone I talk to very much. Thanks for the warning.

What distro would others' recommend?

Clip Studio Paint. Preferred it overall compared to the free open source art programs I've tried, and there's a wide variety of user made brushes. Although I do hate how they changed their licensing in 2.0.

I've mostly moved here, though some of my favorite subs dont have an equivalent community here as of now and I'm a bit bummed about losing them.

I know you didn't mean anything bad by it, but the person you mentioned in that fanartist example doesn't like being associated with that as she doesn't want it to be her legacy.

Tea. There's a lot of room for variation anyway.

I completely forgot about this show lol

I saw some clips and the pilot when it was first making its rounds and thought it looked like trash, but awful shows will always be a thing (especially from SyFy), and the people who were flipping out over "DA ES JAY DOUBLE YOUS TAKING OVER ENTERTAINMET" were definitely overreacting to what I thought was just another mediocre show.

It's actually not extinct like a lot of people say though, just extremely difficult to find.

I don't get all the people who are rallying for stronger IP laws over AI stuff. Like that's possibly the worst solution you could've came up with and will just make the already draconian laws even worse.

It's actually a thing in some parts of the world. In Germany they have something called "milchnudeln" which is pasta made with milk and sweetened.

Yeah, I know someone who tried to go vegan (or vegetarian? I forget which but I lean more towards the former), but had to stop because of health issues.

Me! + a bit of hard cider in the mix

I think we're better off restricting HOW its used like I've seen some people propose.

I don't have the motivation for managing a community. 😅 Also I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to remain active on this website and I don't want to abandon a community out of that.

-Improve moderation of major social sites with more penalties for harassment. I feel like the lack of proper moderation has encouraged people to be needlessly mean over petty nonsense and sometimes even ruin lives.

-Add more privacy protections

-Force websites that allow both minors and 18+ content to have NSFW filters in place by default for anyone under 18 (looking at you Twitter)

-Getting rid of intrusive ads

-Have websites show posts in order, unless it's something like Lemmy or Reddit where the other options at least make sense

-Websites should be given legal repercussions in knowingly spreading dangerous conspiracies (such as Facebook doing nothing about posts encouraging violence against a minority group in Myanmar eventually leading to genocide)
