Piracy is not a real solution to the problem. Microsoft allows these sorts of things to exist in the background because they would rather lose out on some sales than lose market share.

Unless you have the ability to root it, does it matter? It's likely a completely custom, stripped down distro anyway.

Or just don't use it

Do I understand correctly that this is not at all an exploit for Google Calendar itself, but just uses the Calendar share functionality to communicate to already infected hosts? That can be applied to pretty much any service with publicly accessible of sharable data though... I'd call this website out for clickbait but it seems like every tech news website is copy-pasting this same fearmongering article.

While these sorts of practices are legal, consumers need to be educated.

Rough estimate of 72 cell panels at 2m² and 500W per panel puts this at a peak performance of 25kw. More than twice the average home installation.

The location permission is because in dense cities there are enough unique, stationary bluetooth endpoint that you can guesstimate a location.

The general consensus in the media is to not name or talk much about the shooter. It gives other troubled kids the opportunity to see them as a role model.

"We have to keep this truck above 50mph at all cost"

"OMG, IS IT GONNA EXPLODE?!"

"Oh no much worse. It'll ruin my server uptime stat."

I don't think those are mutually exclusive. However, it takes energy and willpower to make a choice that goes against the nature of the addiction.

Well damn. TIL, I'm confused and gay

The combo with YT Music is a good deal.

Even the article acknowledges that "The city-state has excellent public transport links by bus and subway". Clearly the city realizes they are running out of space and want to prioritize people over cars. The remark at the end - " your own family comes first" - just ends up sounding selfish and anti-social.

It does suck that it caters to the rich rather than the needy but taxation is just how you deincentivise certain behaviors in a capitalist society. Hopefully Singapore counters this with subsidized special transport for the handicapped and elderly.

It'll depend on how efficient your phone charger is vs your PC PSU. Looking at some charts, it's a very close battle but generally the phone charger seems to win out. Probably because it's more optimized for its max power output, whereas the PSU needs to support a wider range of loads.

I will always downvote articles with "slams" in the title. It is undoubtedly low effort clickbait. ...unless someone actually gets a door slammed in their face.

That's a solved problem. You use an app for setup, like so many other screenless devices.

Need? No. But hardware acceleration makes things faster and more efficient.

HardwareUnboxed did a with/without ray tracing comparison. TL;DR in most games it's not worth the performance hit. Don't bother with ray tracing for now, especially on low or mid-range hardware. https://youtu.be/DBNH0NyN8K8

For price per TB, modern tapes might still be a valid choice actually. But maybe not great for read/write performance. I guess that depends on how many tape drives you have on each end.

Honestly the LCD decks are so cheap, especially with sales, I don't think you could build a gaming PC for that price.

I have the paid version, I'm on a 109 day streak, and the stupid bird still looks like that. Must be a bug

Is that steel wool in the front? Probably a science demonstration. If you quickly increase pressure in the air vessel up front by shooting the bow, the temperature spikes up enough to ignite the steel wool.

If by expensive version you mean the original Italian gianduja spread. The Ferrero version is overly sweet and tasteless in comparison.

Playing devil's advocate here. A possibly legitimate reason ISPs put in data caps is wireless spectrum congestion.

And you wouldn't really need faceId or any other depth aware camera for this. Just a normal front-facing camera will do. Or do accelerometer only and tilt the phone instead

Has anyone here been in a situation where they thought "man, 4g sure is slow. Hope they roll out 5g soon"? I guess they need a feature to put on the box, otherwise people might think their current phone is good enough.

What ever happened to under-screen cameras? It was the one piece of tech on phones where I was waiting for it to improve.

What a horrible clickbait title, description and thumbnail. I refuse to click this and give it any views

Do you have a source for the CIA backing claim? I can't find anything substantiated with a quick ddg search.

To be fair, LLMs are very good at this sort of associative lookup. But I agree that it doesn't add much to thr conversation. It's like the modern equivalent of letmegooglethatforyou

The amount of heat this will add to your case is negligible. We're talking 15% waste on a 20W load, so 3W worth of extra heat. And that heat is produced in the PSU.

Kinda depends on where you live but there often is an excess of hydro and wind power overnight.
