I like the "edit:" append if I edited something, just to make it clear for whoever comes later.

What's the problem with it?

2k to stop, 1.1k to keep protesting

Let them be responsible for keeping it running. We have a good community here.

System load: The server is roughly at 60% cpu usage and around 25GB RAM usage. (That is, if we restart Lemmy every 30 minutes. Else memory will go to 100%)

Shouldn't we be discussing closing registrations?

Nah, I'm good

I can't listen to anything while reading.

The only problem right now is content. We still have a small userbase. Discussions have been good, tho, and time will bring more people.

I hate the state of our world as it is right now. It's been itching inside my head for quite some time alreadu. It probably is somewhat political, because it probably has something to do with capitalism, but I can't understand how a population that has never been so productive still has to work their ass off in order to simply eat and lay in a bed safely. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes and the more I hate how natural it is for seemingly everyone around me.

I'm not one of these people, despite also not being wealthy at all, I have a job, I don't get paid top dollar but I have a safe house, food on the table and I can do a little bit more with my money, and yes, that's it, EVERYTHING seems to revolve around money.

I wonder how he will behave as soon as the first thing the date does in the tent is, unceremoniously, going for a poop.

Lemmy.world or bust

Home smart devices in general. I'm avoiding Alexa, Siri or any other thing like that. Besides the obvious privacy issues I see about them, I can only imagine being alone at home, Alexa thinking something talked to her and responding in a distorted voice. No, thanks.

I'm considering a home assistant at some point, by setting up a proper network for the smart devices alone, but that's as far as I'll go.

Subnets

I saw "Blackberry" yesterday and it was a really good experience putting you in the context of those times.

There is one scene where they type a message and wait for it to show up on another device. After a few seconds, it is there and every engineer in the room celebrates.

Then, management/sales guy comes in and they tell about what they've just done. He goes yeah, nice, but we do it already, it's called SMS.

The engineers then say that he is not getting the point. It was a message sent through the network using data, 0 dollars and all and salesman's eye get brighter.

So yes, I think the sensation was alike.

People on Twitter are already trying it because Twitter has been shit.

Someone in my circle created their account and already deleted it. Their explanation was a FAQ screenshot for Threads saying that it doesn't matter who you follow or who follows you, the algorithm will show or hide things from you based on what they think you will enjoy and there's no way around it and you also can't sort by new.

I mean, are companies really paying attention to user needs? Lol

A coworker once said he was a content reviewer for YouTube for some time. He received in dollar in a 3rd world country and said it was a pretty easy job to do, aside from being full WFH. Certainly not the worst job out there.

Even all/hot or active or whatever, really.

The main reason I stopped looking at all. Nothing against NSFW, but I want it when I'm expressly in the mood. I was finding myself masturbating more because of this shit.

It looks nice and kinda more mature, but I'm in love with the Fediverse.

We're sticking to the Fediverse as well so

I mean, it really makes sense that self hosted communities grow strong in Lemmy, since it is self hosted.

That's why I'm pissed at the suckers at homelab

Its ability to search for communities and subscribe to communities outside your instance is wonderful. I don't know if other apps are already doing that as well, but it certainly helps and makes it easier for newcomers.

Just a heads up

Go to reveddit.com and throw your username in there. Check if your comments aren't being shadow removed.

Not much you could do about it, tho, but I noticed that the comments I edited to make an ad for Lemmy were all removed. They show up for me, but for other users it shows as "removed".

Reveddit lets you know that.

Repeat above for the use of "nazi". The use of the word has become devalued because people like to fling it at folks with milquetoast centrist opinions, save it for people who are legitimately evil.

Yup, I said the same thing to people around me, when the use of the word "fascist" became a thing in my country. Even clearly moderate opponents were being called fascists left and right. I told people around me that the word would lose its meaning and power. That's exactly what happened, and when an actual fascist came up, you had nothing against him and its supporters transformed the term into a joke.

When is it coming to Android?

Money belts are coming back, but not the old style. We're wearing it across the chest, like a bag. They're even making money belts with more of an adjustable belt so that you can use however you want/feel better. Basically, becomes a bag.

I really wish it would be more mainstream. I always wore shorts with more pockets because fuck I didn't like holding shit in my hand. Recently, shorts with pockets haven't really been a thing, so I gave the money belt a chance and I really like its utility. Nothing inside my short pockets anymore.

2-3 times a day, depends

If I'm at work, I also brush after lunch

If I'm home, I just casually skip it because yeah fuck it

Hottest was easily over 50Β°C. I live in a hot and humid place, so it is even hotter than your typical 50Β°C. And it's hell. Really good if you're on the beach (assuming you manage to avoid insolation), but being home and having to work is the absolute worst I don't wish to anyone.

Coldest was maybe 15-18Β°C? I was travelling to a not so cold neighboring state and it was quite good, actually. I prefer the weather like this.

I finally got a plan for real debrid and Jesus Christ, it is really a game changer

Yeah, I'm committed as well, and you're right about your input.

A few notes in my mind, tho:

1 - Reddit became really mainstream, yeah, but I figure a huge part of the user base were tech people. Probably work in tech somehow.

2 - those who came to Lemmy/kbin already are also tech people, I figure. Right now, I think it is just normal that the first to pull the trigger are in tech. It's not too friendly to the average user (despite the forum format really not being what the average user goes after today)

3 - these people will start to contribute to the development, even if not providing actual code and developing apps or creating their instances, most will post issues about their user experience and will have valuable input about the platform.

4 - I think the true take off of the Fediverse will come once content creators start to post their content in here. And I expect the first of them, at least, to also be tech content creators.

I'll try to encourage some of the guys I follow, mainly course creators, to invest a bit in the Fediverse. Some of them already do. I know that Twitter puts food on their table, but it should be easy to automate and crosspost to Mastodon, for example.

I hate social media overall. It's not really hatred, I just don't use most of them, don't find the motivation and don't really value what they have to offer me. I think Instagram sucks for searching anything (who would say searching pictures would be hard, huh?).

I, for one, started lurking on Reddit because of fantasy football. Reddit was really good as a link and content aggregator, and I got most of my news from there. But it depends on Twitter as well, since the reports mainly come from there. And you see where the problem is at? Most of the people who advocate for the Fediverse don't really use Twitter as well.

So I can only dream of the day Ian Rapopport will post some breaking news to Mastodon and a bot will auto-crosspost it to /c/fantasyfootball.

A man can hope about this ideal future.

Not the first person I see using it on docker. Why, tho? Any reason for it?

I just edited all my comments and submissions older than 30 days to fuck /u/spez and pointing people to come over to Lemmy

On the 30th I'm gonna do with all my comments and delete my account later

A dude posted his neofetch on a Linux community and he uses fucking comic sans for his terminal. Probably will rot in hell

Bitwarden, no question

I thought it was obvious sarcasm, but oh well

Did you mean InnerTune? That's the result I got from searching

I don't have any diagnostics, no. I think I'm anxious sometimes, but my psychologist doesn't think I'm more anxious than the average person. Problem is I don't really know how to describe how I feel sometimes and what exactly is wrong.

I deal with addiction(s) and compulsive behaviors towards them, tho.

My GF is a psychologist and have been talking to me about it for some time and I pulled the trigger now after an episode.

I'm not necessarily after medication and I had discarded psychiatrists before, but more recently, a few years ago maybe, I started to feel myself more open towards them and to think they could help me get through some shit.

We'll know tomorrow, tho. Thanks for your input :)
