Well yeah, the US is set up for giant corporations to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible regardless of how much it will fuck over the customer, bonus points if fucking over the customer doesn’t include immediate proof of physical harm to said customer.

I’m using wefwef and can see what everyone score is on any given comment as well as their overall score when I go to their profile

I mean, in the scenario described where we literally can’t grow food in the surrounding land, it’s hard to say what the political landscape or legal institutions even looks like at that point.

We have the technology for indoor skyscraper style farming.

Politicians and publications that acknowledge the climate crisis should probably start using that term instead of climate change then.

It’s because the “fact” the the fossil fuel industry coined the term climate change is false.

This is the preferred term by scientists, and it has been since before “global warming” became a term.

It’s an attractive location during the winter because of the warm climate, that’s pretty much it, but in terms of being a accessible location, yeah it’s going to be out of the way for a lot of people considering it’s in one of the four corners of the country.

Historically, Florida is the 2nd most visited state in the US, and a surprisingly small percentage of those people are visiting for Disney World. Seems like this is rapidly changing because of how toxic the politics are there, but if we put all that aside, there are legit reasons why it’s such a hotbed for tourism, so it would make sense why conventions would be booked here despite being a poor choice geographically.

I wouldn’t say obsolete because that implies it’s not really used anymore. Most websites and apps still use validation not too dissimilar from the OP, even if it goes against the latest best practices.

Or make them recurring fines that grow exponentially each time they are issued until the situation is fixed.

Edit: nvm it sounds like this is exactly what they are doing.

Yeah, the joke is that it would trigger the snowflake right wingers

Yeah I switched to all stainless steel clad pots and pans a few years ago to avoid all that shit.

This comment is basically just a tl;dr of the OP

They might be looking for something specific. Like they are investigating an individual, or network of individuals, and this is just a piece of that investigation. I doubt they are asking for this to randomly look for opportunities to charge people with a crime related to piracy.

How is that hyperbole? That’s essentially what you are suggesting lmao

They make air conditioners that are relatively cheap, pretty easy to install and take up virtually no space these days. Usually wall mounted.

I used to have this phone back in the day. It was cool but it ran hot as hell and I got really bad screen burn after a year or so.

it’s not know to cause cancer

I have to laugh at the irony of your comment since this thread is about things we don’t yet know are bad for us.

no longer in use or no longer useful

How do you figure? He is quite literally the most unpopular governor in NJ history and abandoned the state to pursue a job in Trump’s administration.

Get a big outdoor box fan you see people rock in their garage gyms, cover the side that blows air out with a screen. Any mosquito flying near will get sucked in and stuck in the screen. At the end of the day/night spray the screen with rubbing alcohol.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are working on something now and just wanted to get the app out as an mvp.

Hopefully that means they’ll start giving me better rates!

Agreed. Glad Reddit seems to be doing the right thing here by acknowledging this.

Also don’t you get a pop up on iOS when apps actually try to do one of these things? Like I have weather apps that clearly say that track my location, but it still gives a pop up asking to use your location when you actually start using it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone working with fiberglass and not wearing a mask. Do people really do that?

Lemmy really needs to add the ability to interact with the rest of the fediverse like mastodon. That’s like…supposed to be the whole point of being part of the fediverse.

Nice try EpiPen.

That’s fair. I’d call the last point new commentary more than an argument since he didn’t really provide any evidence that it’s true. /pedantic

The snakes and bugs will kill ya where I’m from.

Not when you have small children…or a bee allergy.

Easier doesn’t mean better though.

There’s been an astonishing number of mass shootings by trans people lately?

I know Marjorie Taylor Greene was trying to claim that the mass shooting that happened in Philly recently was done by a trans person, but that was proven incorrect.

Similarly for the recent Nashville shooting, there’s been no actual proof that the shooter was trans, just more conservatives saying that without anything to back it up. Almost like they have an agenda they are trying to push rather than actually caring what is true and what isn’t true before announcing it to the country.

Are there more recent incidents than these two that don’t even seem to have been committed by a trans person?

True but I also like to golf

What are friends

Historically, the guy who can’t even win his home state doesn’t win the country. But I guess stranger things have happened.

I will admit that he’s had more of a spine in terms of being consistent in his criticism of Trump since their initial “breakup.” Most other members of the GOP talk out both sides of their mouth, criticizing Trump one week and sucking his dick the next (Ted and Mitch come to mind first).

The guy I replied to said he didn’t want to die from overheating since he doesn’t have AC.

I replied and said that they make affordable and easy to install AC now as a direct and immediate solution to his issue of not wanting to die from overheating due to not having AC.

You come along and say this is a bandaid solution and makes things worse. Okay sure, that’s true for society as a whole on a large enough timeline, but not true for this individual person in the near future.

So I interpreted this as you saying you wouldn’t install AC in his shoes, but also don’t appear to have an alternative course of action in order to not overheat and die due to not having AC, therefore you’d be the first to die.

That is likely a benefit but let’s be honest the real reason is that a web version would require a lot of additional overhead especially to staff enough engineers.

There would be challenges, but again, the scenario we are discussing is a world where we literally can’t grow food in the surrounding land.

You can read all about the concept here:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_farming

The fossil fuel industry denied climate change was happening at all for a long time after the term was being used by scientists.

So you’re saying you’d be the first to die lmao
