"IT people" here, operations guy who keeps the lights on for that software.

It's been my experience developers have no idea how the hardware works, but STRONGLY believe they know more then me.

Devops is also usually more dev than ops, and it shows in the availability numbers.

There will be political violence no matter what the election outcome. If he wins it will be post inauguration. If he loses it will be to try and take power.

There has already been too much political violence this election cycle with two assassination attempts.

Until Trump and his MAGA party are put in their place, either by rule of law or the impact of that violence, we will have violence.

Why would we move on from his admitting to what we all know, his goal is the end of our Republic.

What the hell are you talking about, we should NOT move on, that's been the problem all along.

Competition is great, a company that can't produce a quality product and ships a CAR with beta level software that can't update OTA is NOT competition.

The auto industry is highly unfavorable to startups, the competition you want will come from the old ICE OEMs.

Because AI is the new because blockchain.

I mean, this sorta bolsters the idea that livable space is rare and valuable.

Of all of the universe Earth is the only place capable of supporting human life. Furthermore no human has ever managed to leave the earth/moon system, because of the extreme effort and risk required to do so.

So... How does this make rent seem silly?

Constructive dismissal

The staffing, the network and storage changes.

The suggestion to just use KVM and ansible is rather tone def.

Sounds like someone with limited experience in the industry, honestly.

It's a terrible term for very real problem of toxic gender roles. I'm not sure if you meant to imply that these roles are only reenforced by other men, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Men and women reenforce these gender roles against men and boys, promoting the poor behavior.

A system this critical is on a SAN, if you're properly alerting adding a bit more storage space is a 5 minute task.

It should also have a DR solution, yes.

I would say isreal has a right to defend itself, but not if they keep stealing land and oppressing the people who attack them.

If you want to defend yourself, first, you have to stop attacking the people who you claim to be defending against.

Hamnas is human garbage, but one can not separate the creation of Israel from the ghettoizing of the Palestinian people.

Nobody deserves terrorist attacks, but this didn't come out of the blue.

Isreal needs to own up to it's complicity in the violence before they try to claim to be the sole victims of it.

I mean, entirely false, but ok.

Gender is very much real, you just seem to have a false perception of what the word means.

Most of us do very much have a gender, it is a very small minority who feels their gender does not match their sex, and smaller still are those who, like you apparently, feel no sense of gender at all.

Being outside the common experience doesn't mean you get to disregard the common experience any more then we should disregard your experience.

Toyota is a bad bet when it comes to EVs.

They clearly have no interest in selling them.

That's cute you believe that

Wouldn't that be a cyborg not an android?

Or is the head just decorative? All salted and shriveled like a slim Jim?

Whatever, he's on a roll.

Because it's shit.

If I apt install an app, I expect it NOT to be a snap. I want it to use shared libraries, not bring its own along. They hide from you that they are installing the snap not deb package.

Then you run into all sorts of permissions issues accessing the filesystem from the snap app... Because snap is rather broken in this regard.

Functionally snap is a worse solution then deb, but I guess it's easier on the developer/maintainer as you don't get lost in shared dependincy hell.

I feel snaps should be an option if you need cutting edge version of a software that can't use your shared libs, but never the default install method.

Red hat, 25 years ago learned to recompile the kernel to make my sound card/modem work.

As much of a joke as it is, that's a real option for me. Won't pull the trigger on day one, but you bet your ass I'll be ready to go at a moments notice.

Whats to distinguish, they are the same drink.

If you want a pop just ask for a pop, silly goose.

Meh, the USA won't invade Canada. Even if we go full fascist Canada is way better as a frenemy.

Our largest trading partner won't be able to give us a reason to invade.

Mexico on the other hand should watch out, given the amount of scapegoating our right wing throw their way.

To where?

Somewhere with a substantial pay reduction that does NOT want me there and likely requires I learn a new language in midlife.

I'm fine, it's not a hellscape here, there are problems everywhere.

This is literally what I do for a living. Yes deduplication and thin provisioning.

This is still a failure of monitoring or slow response to it.

You keep your extra capacity handy on the storage array, not with some junk files on the filesystem.

You also need to know how over provisioned you are and when you're likely to run out of capacity... you know this from monitoring.

Then when management fails to react promptly to your warnings. Shit like this happens.

Or in/on my ears!

Hair falling outta my head, but if I don't trim my eyebrows I'll end up looking like a sheep dog.

Daily, but not for what it was intended as. I replaced the disk with a 1TB one dual boot Ubuntu & use it as my main PC.

I'm well aware of both, been in the industry for over 20 years.

But you still don't seem to comprehend the cost or difficulty of the change.

Frankly the support options don't seem very good either.

Deployment is not even half the battle, ongoing support is where the troubles really come out.

2016 is well after 9/11/2001... People where already very I jaded on the Internet.

I suspect you where just too young to be jaded yourself yet.

You know Plex is trying to become a streaming platform, right? Just shoving that add supported streaming into you face all the time.

From someone who's spent around 20 years with xbmc/Kodi. Even better, it's free.

My dude, that's exactly what I'm talking about. That's me in fact.

Even if I had a contract it wouldn't matter as I live in a right to work state, they can fire me at any point without warning or cause.

Having any real employment contract is NOT the norm here.

Non office jobs are more likely to be unionized and this have a contract than office jobs.

That's the type of thing non W2 self employed contractors or union members might have to lean back on, not rank and file full time office employees.

They had these in Canada too?

It's highly improbable though. If she flips Florida, a state she's down in despite the headline, she most likely won Michigan by a wide margin.

It's possible, but like pigs learning to fly possible.

I will have no issue imegrating, I have "an in" as well as a place to live already.

The border is only a 20 minute drive anyway.

The "doesn't want me" statement seems like your personal opinion, not objective reality.

It was always useless dopamine exploiting garbage.

It served to pump up peoples egos, feed narcissists & mostly not do anything of any real value. It was always a place that would drag random individuals through the virtual streets as some sort of cathartic virtue signaling stoning event for 'wrong thinking' or 'wrong speaking'.

What Musk has done to it has obviously made it worse, but it was never a net gain for society to have something like Twitter.

It was always a very problematic entity, outside of anyone's political leanings or whatnot.

.

Who's? Canada's or the USA? In both cases that's false.

The Canadian economy is inextricably linked to ours (USA). Any plans they have to deal with a racist USA has to take that, and the military disparity, into account. Canada is in a very shit situation if the USA falls to fascism. Appeasement is their only realistic option.

That would be great, she's been a great governor.

Only thing that could be better is a Whitmer/Harris ticket or even a Whitmer/Shapiro ticket.

Title, start date and time, job title is about all that's on the "contract".

Rolls and responsabilities, not anything else, are not defined.

Where are you crossing? Around here the population on both sides of the border are pretty indistinguishable, except for accent.

It really is also a states rights thing. The federal government, by design, has no say in how elections or driver's licenses work.

That they have stepped in to the driver's license space is an overstep of their authority, honestly.

The federal government is not the sovereign entity, the many states are.
