Welcome to the trolley problem.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_problem

You didn't even read their metrics did you? It's based on crime rates, healthcare, quality of health, etc. Those are pretty objective measures, and ones that republican-controlled states often fight against (see: reluctance to expand medicaid).

"I've only been to explicitly adult shows which is why I think they're adult shows"

Of course if you only go to gay clubs with heavy drinking you'd think those shows are for adults. Because those shows ARE for adults.

Lean philosophy is supposed to account for those dice-rolling moments. It's not just "keep nothing in inventory", there is supposed to be risk assessment involved.

The problem is that leadership doesn't interpret it that way and just sees "minimizing inventory increases profit!"

Also many of the people complaining that their posts are being filtered are mods of communities larger than 50 users, one person pointed out that they mod two subs of more than 500,000 people.

So they lied while acting pretentious, again. To the surprise of no one.

You keep saying this sentence, and the funny thing is you aren't saying anything of substance.

They're definitely not deleting that data. Just hiding it.

Lawns aren't really the issue for utah. Agriculture uses something like 70+% of the water, and a lot of that is flood irrigation or other inefficient irrigation. The water is mostly used for crops like alfalfa that get exported to places like China.

The governor, unsurprisingly, is heavily invested in alfalfa farming, so do the math.

I'm not sure I want to "get along" with fascists.

My personal theory: to offset activity losses and show shareholders that they can still drive engagement.

Are they really? They dedicate their free time to give reddit their power. Reddit is now yelling at them to give power back to themselves despiteb years of saying the opposite.

Don't be a scab, don't deal with the "inconvenience" of people being hurt by scabs.

They said they had a hard time finding men who would cry.

They also didn't test women sniffing women's tears, or men sniffing men or women sniffing men, or animal tears.

They left a lot of variables out of this one.

Thank God Poppin made it over to Lemmy! Glad to have you here!

Many people in the US are paid every two weeks, which means some months you're paid more than others.

Yearly has become standard as is hourly rate, because one is useful for taxes and the other is often directly negotiated.

Even if it wasn't you, someone copying your well-sourced comments would be welcome but I'm also super happy that you could validate using your reddit source content.

Sounds like they should join a union... maybe one that respects picket lines, like the teamsters.

If you compare r/all to what it was pre-protest it is fairly obvious that there's a huge difference. Besides the subs that are outright still protesting, there's a lot less comments on front-page posts. It's pretty easy now to get to posts with essentially 0 comments on the front page (that aren't locked) compared to before.

Not childporn. There's a community called "adorableporn" that originally had, as part of its description "childlike" (other descriptors were things like "cute") while being very clear that everyone on that community was 18+ (and even validating questionable posts with age verification). The wording of "childlike" has since been removed to ensure no confusion.

There was no instance of childporn being allowed.

I just told my fairly tech-unsavvy partner the email analogy:

You sign up on Google, I sign up on yahoo, my bro-in-law runs his own from a server in his house. We can all email each other and the email looks mostly the same no matter who reads it, but yahoo isn't Google isn't my bro-in-law. Lemmy = email in general, yahoo = lemmy.ml, Google = lemmy.world, etc.

She immediately got it and has an account on some instance and has subscribed to a bunch of places.

This is me. I'm this person.

I personally consider the violence contained in the Bible much worse for children than anything I've seen in a drag show, even the more "adult" ones.

Rule 196 is a simple rule: if you enter the "sub" (obviously from reddit), you must post before leaving.

It usually ends up being very random, which leads it to both being easy and very difficult to moderate.

For a long time the original reddit version had some toxicity and lots of porn (or at least NSFW content). If it isn't marked NSFW, I'd do that and (assuming NSFW is allowed on lemmy.blahaj) mostly leave it be unless there's something really problematic and/or potentially illegal.

Honestly have no idea how to even moderate these communities. Reddit was hard enough without 3rd party tools.

Most states don't even get 5, or 3.

The states that have mandates are (usual suspects incoming):

Arizona - 40 hours

California - 40 hours

Colorado - 48 hours

Connecticut - 40 hours

D.C. - 7 days

Maryland - 64 hours hrs

Massachusetts - 40 hrs

Michigan - 40 hrs

Nevada - 0.01923 hours per hour worked (works out to approximately 40 hours if you work a standard 40hrs/week, 52 weeks/yr

New Jersey - 40 hrs

New Mexico - 64 hrs

New York - 56 hrs

Oregon - 40 hrs

Rhode Island - 40 hrs

Vermont - 40 hrs

Washington - 40 hrs

Some cities/counties have their own requirements but I'm not going to list those. I wish the US did better on Healthcare, but, as with everything, it's the blue states dragging the country forward kicking and screaming.

Not every post needs to be a dissertation.

Any job with a clearance. Many of those just don't test in CA though unless they want you fired because otherwise they'd never be able to hire anyone.

"Of course I know him, he's me"

The amount it has improved over the last month since I joined has been insane. It's a lot more stable, the apps that exist are improving at an insane pace (and many many many more are being created). It's exciting.

Yeah I kinda hate requests for specific quotes like that sometimes. A person doesn't have to say specifically "I hate public transportation" for it to be obvious, just like I don't need someone to say "I hate trans people" specifically if they walk around complaining about bathrooms and pronouns.

Back and forth bs? Please define

Jailbait was the opposite. Technically covered up minors. Adorableporn is unclothed adults.

You ever tried taking a train from Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. to Barcelona, Spain?

Did you just compare letting non-active bots on a server to killing babies? Okay if that's the comparison you really want to go with, I guess.

It's very easy to sit on a high horse and say you've never had a negative impact due to your ignorance, when your own ignorance might include things that you don't know are detrimental to others.

Are you perfect? If 7 billion people analyze your actions will none of them find you at fault? Because if even a single one does, then by your own standard, you should never be allowed a second chance by anyone.

I've been on the middle of a parking lot, in a smaller car then both my neighbors, with my bumper (on front and back) less far out than my neighbors and still got a nice $500 bumper-rub.

Being remotely close to the edge is not in your personal self interest.

I've told many (usually new) design engineers that they're stupid for asking for 0.001" tolerance on parts when they only need 0.005 "or 0.010". The difference between 0.010" and sub-10 micron is easily a factor of 100 in most parts, ESPECIALLY when you're talking larger steel components like panels on a freaking car.

Wtf iowa?

The OP bot isn't the worst imo, it's been very upfront about what it is, but there is a larger issue that bot detection isn't that great on lemmy.

Now, are you going to go ahead and have those T.P.S. reports for us this afternoon?

No disagreement there, just clarifying that it wasn't child porn.
