I appreciate the sorting suggestion! I'll try that. I understand that Lemmy isn't as big as Reddit, but I swear there are more people than my feed is leading me to believe.

This pig needs to lose all his federal funding. Absolutely disgusting.

The amount of responses in this post have been extremely reassuring. I honestly just felt like I was using the site alone with a bunch of bots lol

Scuba Diving. Lots of people have heard that your lungs can pop or something similar and it makes them really afraid to try it. If you hold your breath, you may have issues with your lungs but your SCUBA apparatus is such an amazing design that even if you need to throw up underwater it's designed to filter your vomit through the apparatus so you can continue breathing even after throwing up THROUGH it (which you should do if you feel nauseous down there). Just keep the apparatus in your mouth and don't stop breathing and you'll have a great time.

Scuba Diving is one of my favorite things to do and I really think more people should try it!

I remember when I was looking up diet videos years ago everyone was VEHEMETLY advocating against MSG and how bad it was for you, especially for diabetics. I'm still not entirely sure what to believe, but I know MSG isn't as bad as everyone thought it was.

The only way that I think scraping bots are helpful would be for purely archivale purposes. I wish someone would create an Instance that scrapes old Reddit posts and information and posts that information solely on that instance. Scraping new content and posting it here to Lemmy is not even using Lemmy, we've just gone back to Reddit at that point.

Thanks, I'll keep trying to do my part to grow my favorite communities on Lemmy.

Your rant post is ill-placed, because I'm trying to do that. I've already posted and commented multiple posts in communities I enjoy trying to garner attention and content. But i'm also a busy person who's trying to live with a family, children, and a budding carreer. I understand I need to be a part of the community and I am doing more now than I ever have on Reddit.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that this post is not about me complaining about a lack of content, it was a misunderstanding of the sorting algorithm. After posting this, I got lots of very helpful advice to help me use Lemmy's sorting better and my enjoyment of Lemmy has improved immensly to the point of where my experience on Lemmy is no longer lame.

EDIT 2: I must have misread your post because it was not condesending, but more motivating. I appreciate the sentiment and redact the condesending part, but stand by the rest of what I've said. I deleted the entire second paragraph because I was defensive and wrong in its entirety. I appreciate the sentiment while affirming I am trying to contribute more while my life is still very busy. I apologize for getting defensive.

That was my main reason for posting this question, to see if I'm alone in this site with just a bunch of bots posting. All these responses have given me hope!

I would look worried too, from what I've felt the steam from my Instant Pot is extremely hot!

You mean as soon as two competeting companies merged to create a monopoly it caused massive problems? Who could have guessed!

That was the conclusion i came to, it's just another seasoning like paprika or salt. The opposition to it is what keeps me skeptical, if it's just a seasoning why are people so randomly against it? I think it's because it's used in lots of fast food.

I really feel like it doesn't matter what you use as long as it's part of the Fediverse. If whatever you've chosen is federated we all benefit. I feel that ever since Kbin federated there's way more content even on Lemmy. I'm just glad that we can all see and interact with one another.

Lemmy.zip is what I figured would become lemmy's gaming instance

Enshitification

The more fitting name I've seen him called is Yittler

I think that the more people that move to the Fediverse the better. As it gets popular Lemmy will be more and more populated with instances that can be curated to the user's wants. Don't like how one instance is running things? Move to another. Don't like how one community does things? Move to another. The more popular Lemmy is, the more options Users will have.

I have, thankfully, seemed to have avoided a lot of the furry porn. If you like it, more power to you! I'm thankful I can avoid that kind of content!

I did that and it confused the hell out of me, half of my instances communities were empty all of a sudden

I think what your post was getting at was valid, and I promide I will do my best to not be the reason Lemmy has a lack of content, i want to do my best to contribute! I don't think your intentions were wrong, and hope you continue to advocate for people to contribute.

I want to free dive so bad but I'm a heavier weighted dude so I float too easily and have to work to keep myself underwater. Working on losing weight so I can do that kind of stuff!

I want to have this level of belief. After Netflix benefitting from their enshittification, I believe this will just become the new norm and I'll just be pushed further from societal norms because I'm not willing to shell out for all of this bullshit, while the vast majority of society is. I want to believe these companies will fail in their ventures to treat their customers like shit, but if I've learned anything it's that society will do anything for their shit.

I played VR and had a blast. It was usually the ones that were mounted to the ceiling at a mall arcades. I could play no big deal for hours. My brother in law got a vr headset for Christmas and I tried to use it and got unbelievably sick after 20 minutes of playing it.

I played super hot, some moving zombie game, and that plank game on thw vr headsets at mall arcades with no problem moving around, twisting, and moving fast. I played a stationary puzzle game on my bil's. I dont know what causes the sickness but it was veey bad on his unit. I womder if the suspension at the mall arcades made the difference, rather than having a free roaming headset.

Does not compute error error error cheezoid hates self

Battlebit Remastered is so much freaking fun everyone needs to try this game. While the voxel graphics may turn people off, it's got some of the best fps gameplay ever. I really love it!

Your typo calling Elon melon is the cherry on top of this discussion

Apparently it targets the gene specifically for growing your teeth, so it should only grow your teeth where it was designed to.

I think by pearls of wisdom you mean the Pearl of Great Price, but that was really just a supplement to the Old Testament, expounding on Moses and their belief of the creation.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ were commanded not to drink hot drinks, interpreted by prophets as coffee and tea. Members recently have, when asked why, claimed their teachings were that they were to abstain from caffeine because the caffeine is addictive and that's why Coffee was bad. However, this was and has never been the doctrine. The doctrine was purely to abstain from coffee and certain types of tea, as the "hot drinks" in the book of the Doctrine and Covenants that has been interrpreted by modern-day prophets. Never has a prophet established that caffeine is the culprit for the reason for abstaining, infact, the same book also establishes that God has only given commandments for the purposes of spirituality, rather than mortality. But because of the member-spread tradition, many members have believed--falsly--that they had been taught to abstain from caffeine and therefore also abstain from chocolate. This has never been the case, but has merely been member tradition and has unfortunately spread as what their church teaches. The doctrine of the church is relatively simple, but you have to sift member traditions (such as being republican, or not drinking caffeine, or not letting their children play with non members, or not being able to gamble, or not being able to consume caffeine, or being homophobic) from the teachings of the Church, which is to have Faith in Jesus Christ, repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and Endure to the end.

If your instance defederates from an instance, or you are defederated from an instance you enjoy, you can always move to a new account. Unlike Reddit, you don't have Karma to link you to your account so you can just move over to a different instance (although subscribing to all of your favorite communities again is a pain in the ass)

People have no idea what Mormons believe, the other day I saw someone saying they couldn't eat chocolate and the comment had hundreds of upvotes

not despised, but i think the Apple Watch injunction really hurt them because it was around the holiday season. That, and the general consumer pretty much knew there wasn't anything new with the new iPhone that warranted an upgrade. Even my rich, boomer dad said he didn't see why it would be worth it to upgrade and he always gets the newest models.

Only problem is they'll be replaced by someone far worse.

I use an Android, and I wouldn't necessarily say that Android sms messaging is good software. Most of our sms apps either suck, are mined by corporations for data, or both. Apple isn't better in those regards, I'm just saying that it isn't one of Android's strengths over Apple.

I agree wholeheartedly that fragmentation needs to be addressed.

Seems like it, only old posts dont dissapear into the void, they stick around forever.

Same happened to me! I figured I'd find an instance hosted closer to my home anyway and I found this little instance that I've really enjoyed.

I don't understand that. If you don't like corporations joining the fediverse then just join an instance that is defederated from them or better yet just block them. Corporations are going to join the fediverse and that's ok because one of the major parts of the fediverse is you can choose to affiliate with corporations or not, you're not subject to them.

The sources of that Wikipedia page are solely from websites that are biasedly antagonistic towards the church. Could you link to official church teachings regarding this topic?

That's not true at all. Are members of the Church of Jesus Christ misguided in how they treat their fellow members and their youth? Yes. But its fundamental teachings (not the toxic traditions of the members) are one of peace, love, and hope. This type of comment is rude, and offensive, and if it were regarding another group this kind of comment would be downvoted. But because it's against a religion it's ok to shit on their beliefs? This sentiment only breeds toxicity, and if we really want to help others who are affected by the toxic behaviors of all groups, we need to start with ourselves and how we treat (and look at) those whose beliefs differ from our own.
