Sorry, best we can do is massive, expensive pseudo-luxury SUVs

Target disk mode is fantastic, I'm thrilled to see this coming to Linux

Its the New York Times not someones personal blog. If they are publishing sloppy work that is their fault.

There's only so many people who can afford to spend $60,000+ on a car

How much time do you have?

Funny you mention green bubbles, Apple has said they would pull iMessage and FaceTime from the UK rather than add a backdoor. Signal and WhatsApp have also said they would leave the market rather than comply and Google has opposed the bill but I haven’t personally seen any reporting on if they said they’d pull services from the UK.

I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come with other Automattic companies. I'd hate to see Pocket Casts go away.

Link realized some things in Gerudo Town

I personally prefer Newsflash because the main dev of Fluent is weirdly adamant about not implementing either customizable shortcuts or the standard vim-style navigation that almost all desktop RSS readers have had since Google Reader included them

I disagree with citing Framework for now since they've only existed for 3 years. They are certainly exciting and genuinely seem to be dedicated to long term support and repairability but in my opinion they need to exist longer than that before they can be cited as example of supporting a device for a very long time.

God I fucking hate Bettman.

I mean, fuck, there's no green bubble stigma in the US either. I have never once heard people complain about it in the real world

It's especially galling being repeatedly told to vote when the dems refuse to actually fucking fight. They made nowhere near the amount of effort to block Trump appointees that republicans made to stop Obama appointees and no amount of "high road" moral victories will outweigh the effect of having a far right leaning supreme court for a generation

The main use of a keyboard is to make thocky sounds

Honestly, I prefer not to have power seats. It's faster to adjust manual seats in my experience and there's both fewer things to break and less weight.

NYT wrote about it earlier today

Tell that to all the nations lining up to call Israel bombing civilians self-defense.

Just from memory there's one of the most highly regarded golden era episodes, Homer at the Bat which heavily features MLB players from the time and makes jokes assuming knowledge of the league. You Only Move Twice has the joke about the Denver Broncos. The entire characters of Drederick Tatum and Lucius Sweet are based on Mike Tyson and Don King respectively.

I honestly think that FireWire 400 had a better physical design for the connector. It was keyed more dramatically than some of the other connectors people are citing as being both keyed and easy to orient incorrectly. I personally never had issues plugging in FireWire 400 blind.

They're clickbait garbage.

I'm glad Ars seems to have walked back its transphobia after the absolute shit-show that was its article about twitter screening a self identified fascist's transphobic screed that somehow came down on the side of the fascist.

Is it possible that there are ghosting issues with the panel? I had a 120hz monitor at work at one point that had ghosting issues so bad it made it look barely any better than a 60hz panel. Going from 60hz to 120hz+ should definitely be noticeable to most people

Just look how many people are buying new iPhones. Don’t say times are tough if you are shopping for the latest luxury item.

Trade-ins are probably a big part of people buying new iPhones. My carrier gave me $800 for my 3 year old iPhone which covered the vast majority of the cost of a new one.

Kbin just pushed out an update that shows where else in the fediverse the linked page was posted. I don't know if there's anything similar on Lemmy.

The WebKit engine Safari uses is still open source, Gnome Web and Konqueror use it. It definitely has a small non-apple userbase but it's an option

I don't know about BSD specifically but the current release is still Unix 03 compliant and it's still built on top of Darwin

This is exactly the reason, it became a meme (like Fallout New Vegas becoming a thing in the trans community before it) and people ran with it. People have retroactively said that it's because blåhaj is trans pride colors but it wasn't the initial reason.

Somewhere Tony Schiavone got the urge to yell "It's Sting!"

The Simpsons has done a ton of sports jokes in the past, that's definitely not unique to recent Simpsons.

I still don't understand the TPM 2.0 requirement. As far as I know there's nothing that Windows 11 does by default that requires TPM, just optional features like BitLocker or Windows Hello

I hadn't heard about it but yeah, the iOS and Android apps are open source.

Unfortunately a lot of Labour is on board with that rhetoric was well

I just want someone to finally copy column view from Finder. I know Ranger has it but it would be nice if Nautilus or Dolphin would implement it.

Ah, yes, because appeasement has worked so well in the past.

Not OP but personally touch input feels much better implemented on 11 than any previous Windows

Dearly Beloved and the variations on it are the best. I'm partial to the version for Kingdom Hearts 2 but they're all great

The eMMC one does support installing an NVMe, and from what I've seen the Deck can't really support more than PCIe 3.0 speeds. If you find a good deal on a PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 drive it will still work but there's no reason to spend extra on a newer drive.
