I just started the use the fediverse to get away from Meta (I have a somewhat active Instagram) and Reddit.

Now unfortunately my userbase is going to threads without knowing what it even is. I'm trying to spread awareness about the fediverse but it's like yelling into the void. I signed up for threads and will continue to try to post content about the fediverse, but I also have to have an audience to share my art to as I'm trying to build some interest for a game I'm making.

This really sucks. I feel extremely upset about this whole meta thing. I could continue to try to build from scratch, but I am hoping to release the game next year and I already have 3 years head start on Instagram, it feels bad to also just abandon what I've worked hard on.

I dunno, I'm just venting. I hate Meta. I don't even have a actual Facebook account. Hell I didn't know Facebook owned Instagram until a year in.

I'll just try to continue to stay active on my fediverse accounts. And try to promote the fediverse on the centralized BS networks.

I understand this only because my husband still is looking at reddit. I had to have a talk with him as to why I am changing platforms, the point of not visiting a site during a protest, and how Lemmys and kbin need time to grow. He was looking at news and he said "well your site doesn't have anything! It's basically empty where am I supposed to go for discussion!"

I told him he needs to either just view the news sites directly and contribute, or just try to curb usage and allow the sites time to grow. Use your phones native news app for now, whatever it takes to not add to Reddits ad revenue and user count.

I'm a woman and I work in tech, as well as had nerdy techy hobbies since I was a child. I've definitely not experienced what Madison has experienced in my tech career but I have had plenty of sexist encounters in my time as a retail employee before my current career.

I've had a small few creepy incidents in my tech jobs but... Unfortunately what she experienced sounded a lot more like a dude bro gaming circle than an actual company. I've seen that behavior, just not in my career. Maybe I'm lucky, but I think the issue is so deeply rooted in LMG that I wouldn't know how to fix it. It's a weird gamer culture from what I can gather

I will say I'm very happy with the changes. Not more than once I was jump scared by a big anime shlong on a girl while browsing on my commute. Glad that whatever has changed that it's much more functional now

I just downloaded (the deleted and left a 1 star review) the official app and downloaded an old image and a new image and a watermark didn't appear. Neither on the website

It's all speculation and assumptions anyway ! We can see different things. I feel disgust and see regret and you may see someone possibly showing remorse. We just don't know for sure either way.

Its pretty funny - I learned this the last 2 years I was to own a gas operated car. I had always struggled with certain models on which side the gas tank was and would embarrassingly have to switch stalls when I came out to realize I was on the wrong side.

Now I just have to remember what side my charging port is on, passengers get the zap is how I remember

Wow, I know a lot of car companies - like Polestar and eventually Ford, are doing this. It is a better model, I hate dealing with the dealerships so much. We just purchased a new car and that was a bit of a headache. I'm helping my mom get her next car through the Costco program soon and that cuts out a lot of the headache- I hope.

Not r/Place imo, it's 100% feeding back into reddit directly and is clearly bringing back even Lemmy users just to engage. Deleting comments or editing existing ones with comment about Lemmy or something and just leave reddit.

Or only contribute to "reddit alternatives" reddit. The people on there already, especially on place, won't leave reddit for Lemmy that's for damn sure. It's a pointless advertisement and is just feeding into the engagement cycle

Mastodon is like Twitter, Lemmy is similar to reddit, and Kbin combines both functionalities with different terminology. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in !
