One of the two men you mentioned will win -- barring a death before the election, either Biden or Trump will be elected.

All the wanking in the world isn't going to result in a third option with even the remotest chance.

Someone has no idea how memes work

I've mulled/wished for this for years. Also useful at borders, where in the past I have actually been asked (required) to unlock phones and laptops. Generally you have no rights whatsoever there.

Those shadow accounts would need to be 'lived in' to pass those border checks. My worst experience was traveling with new, obviously burner devices --- border agents were extremely suspicious.

Indeed. I might vote for some Greens down-ballot, but Stein is a stain on the party and its cause

Certainly if she has been trying to effect real change in a realistic way, rather than an egocentric impossible run at the presidency.....

Things would have been different. She was one of many straws, which if subtracted, would have prevented trump

So for that and that alone, she and the rest of the greens can fuck right off.

See the No Labels folks for a more common sense way to be activist on national level politics.

Greens would be great if they would focus on good, winnable races from the bottom up....

What that called again?? Uhh 'grass roots'

Seems like asking for disappointment

if you want a decent cheap option, the wyze watch seemed okay

So,.like --- was this guy in a relatively large volume chamber/booth and they just trickled the N2 gas in?

If there was enough volume, it could take a long time for the O2 levels to get low enough for him to pass out... BUT does a human body produce enough CO2 to fill that space to the point of triggering the suffocation response? Seems unlikely...

OR did they just strap a rebreather mask to his face and turn on a few l/min?

Were any specifics about the actual setup published?

It's pretty well established that any biometric can just be taken from you --- facial recognition is super easy and it won't be hard to force your thumb onto the sensor.

This is also the case for things like blood draw for blood alcohol testing.

The only unlock key that's (probably) truly yours is something inside your brain.

Doing something about International Law on international waters is a totally different matter than within the the borders of a sovereign nation.

Damn them wangs look good.....

They wouldna survived intact

Reddit posted a chart showing the top abusers of the free API, with an implication that this was the reason they are now going to charge third party user apps for access.

However --- according to Apollo, which has been pretty credible and is apparently the largest app, they aren't even close to the excess usage levels shown

I expect those top-ten abusers of the free API, exceeding the limits by 40000% and whatnot are all LLMs sucking up text for training.

Reddit has been letting those project hoover up very valuable (given recent valuations of LLM/AI projects) textual discourse (authored by all of us of course) for free. They may feel a bit foolish, and they are realizing their worth, in terms of the value to LLM efforts.

SO, I think the pricing is related to what they believe the various AI projects can afford to pay.

It's still an easy win for them to kill the third-party apps that they wish were gone, given the NSFW and in-app ads issues.

If reddit wanted to, they could create a seperate pricing tier for usage that passes through to individual humans, rather than to language machines. They are different use cases and absolutely have different value propositions in terms of potential revenue generation.

32 now and I actually like it. I hope it will taint my profile in a positive way

Oh that Royksopp is excellent.

Most likely they have enough volume in them for that to be unnecessary.

Pretty much everyone, including the 3rd party apps, agrees with what you've said.

Reddit needs to monetize the API, and spez has really fucked this up.

But -- nitrous (N2O) is more fun and has just as little usable oxygen -- zero

For easy access to an inert gas at-home, try a helium tank from the Party Store

Facesitting porn (of adults) is illegal in UK for the reason that it's potentially dangerous

I'll agree that Dems have given up way too easily, mostly based on naive "for the good of the country" white knighting.

It probably didn't start with Al Gore and the hanging chads, but that would have been a good time to realize that sometimes these fights are existential

Doesn't change the fact that Stein is currently a russian-funded spoiler and she's a drag on the Greens and does great disservice to all of the non-major parties.

I hope No Labels and other serious 'third paries' spend time focusing on voting reform like RCV or similar. Of course, many nerds will (probably correctly) claim that RCV is flawed in whatever way and we should try to move to some other even more complicated system. And then nothing will happen and we will continue to be stuck in a bi-party system with smaller factions only ever having the opportunity to act as spoilers in national or even state-wide races.

I recall there being a LOT of those watches out that were "mobile data connected" for very cheap.

The catch? The mobile data radio was 2g, and those networks are all obsolete and gone now (I think)

All of the wyze stuff seems to be decent, but not super premium.

The headphones are 85% as good as the Bose, but for $49

The scale is quite good, nothing even remotely off about that and it integrates with Fitbit just fine.

The Color smart bulbs have been solid. One of the wyze smart plugs lost its memory once and needed to be re-setup, but fine since.

The cameras all work great too, as long as you're comfortable with the fact that the video goes to some cloud location.

Hemlock Society recommends an oven roaster bag (like for turkeys) and a bottle of inert gas (usually helium is easiest to get) and just flow enough in to keep the inert atmosphere in the bag "fresh"

Also, there is 'gas stunning' which is used in Europe for slaughter. There are some practices that use CO2 for this, but at a nearly 100% level it is pretty instantaneous, much like HS2 -- which you can't even smell at high concentration, because you're dead already.

Point, there is some state of the art around using gas to kill; it's not a brand new concept.

Virtually every international border on the planet.

I live in a 5br 3ba house on 5 wooded acres inside a national park.

My mortgage is about halfway done, the house is currently worth about 60% more than I paid for the house and the total rent (ahem, excuse me) MORTGAGE PAYMENT, including escrow for insurance and taxes is $1790 a month.

I live 22 miles from the Washington Monument as the crow flies.

And you think I'd be as well renting an apartment?

This house rents for more than double what my mortgage costs, and at least a third of that payment is expenses that will always exist (taxes/insurance)

Utliies range from $77 to $220ish per month.

This is a whole lot of privilege.

And it just links to a Twitter post as far as I can tell
