My problem with Soulseek is that it only really has music. That's it. I'm more interested in stuff for retro game systems. Not just the stuff that's listed in No-Intro or some GoodSet, you can find those anywhere. I'm trying to find a site that has stuff that isn't just the same sets you see everywhere. But I can't find one.

Damn, nice. You have backups of this in case it gets taken down, right? I'd back it up myself, but storage space is a premium for me. Part of why I mainly deal in ROMs for older systems. That and aftermarket games for older systems are not well-preserved, especially older physical aftermarket releases.

For me I'm just trying to find information on how to safely download games and figure out what is and isn't a virus and how to avoid getting hit with scary letters from my ISP. I know for the latter I can use Mullvad or something, but I don't know what kind of antivirus to use. Apparently a lot of them see a crack and go off about that rather than checking further to see if it's actually malicious. This mainly applies to newer games that run with exe files or other executables.

I've also been trying to find good sites that have games for retro systems like the NES, Genesis, and DS (yes, I'm counting the DS as retro for the purpose of this post) that aren't just easy to find in any No-Intro, Redump, or MAME database. You can find No-Intro stuff pretty much anywhere, at least for most of the sets. Same with Redump to a lesser extent. MAME/MESS is a bit harder, but not impossible. But trying to find anything that isn't in those is incredibly difficult. FC Gallery is alright for NES/Famicom stuff, though other than that, I've got nothing.

Not sure. Maybe I'll do it with my releases, I dunno. I don't exactly release any high profile stuff though, and I typically just avoid torrents because I'm afraid of getting a scary letter from my ISP. Perhaps that's unwise though.

I'm not sure how much I'd even use Nicotine+, it doesn't have a lot of what I'm looking for. Just music. I tend to look for retro game stuff. I have all the No-Intro sets for older systems so I don't need stuff that's in those (except the private entries). It's hard to find stuff that isn't just in any No-Intro, GoodTools, or TOSEC set, unfortunately. I might use it to share stuff. Maybe eMule as well? I don't know. shrug

Does Usenet work over college wi-fi? I'm not sure how that would work.

I'm not sure I'm able to seed, unfortunately. College network doesn't seem to like port forwarding, and Mullvad disabled port forwarding recently. That and I don't have a lot of storage space and I'm worried about getting a scary letter from my ISP. At least the scene I'm in is more DDL-based than torrent-based. Makes things easier.
