You do need a registration key, but now it's tied to the hardware so it activates as soon as you connect to the network, no need to actually type the registration key.

I agree, I use Linux. But "normal people" aren't able to install an operating system, and they can't easily go to the shop and buy a Linux computer. They can buy a mac though. Still better than nothing.

Yes, but... it's like comparing people that go to the cinema and people who watch reels on Instagram.

Okay, both things involve watching a video, but they are two very different experiences.

It's time to ditch Windows and all move to macOS or (even better) Linux

To be honest, OBS is way more advanced than a screen recording tool. It's basically a live program director

I'm going to explain how an Italian bidet works, I don't know if you're referring to some other kind of bidet (e.g. the pressure washers).

You do your thing, then you lightly clean yourself with paper. Don't waste too much paper, just one pass or two will suffice.

Then you get up from the toilet bowl and go on the bidet. In Italy, it's always next to the toilet bowl so you don't have to walk around like a maniac. The best way to sit on the toilet is to "ride it" as if it was a horse (so you face the water).

You open the water, maybe you wait for it to become warm (it depends on the kind of heating system you have in your home, sometimes it takes longer to come out warm). Then you get some soap (we use a specific kind of delicate liquid soap that we call "intimate soap" in Italian). You apply the soap to your private parts and you rinse using the water.

After you've finished cleaning, you dry youself using a personal towel. This is important: you don't share your bidet towel with anybody. We usually use a smaller kind of towel.

And that's how an Italian uses a bidet.

I have an even simpler example: should cars be required not go over the speed limit?

Very nice. Nobody wants to use Safari anyway, they were forced by Apple.

Thank you EU!

Stupid Google, this was a great camera feature. I use it all the time.

Don't forget guys, Google My Maps is kept alive by one single Google employee. When he leaves the company, they'll kill the feature for sure.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was one single engineer that kept Photo Spheres alive.

STOP TIPPING. The whole world doesn't tip, it's a strange and stupid US thing. Just stop tipping please!

The fact that as soon as the UK left the EU carriers removed the free roaming shows the importance of government regulations

100% they killed him

It's literally their web app put in a Chrome window.

It's outrageous. The Mac version of Outlook is way better, and it's native!!

I partially agree with you, and of course I hate those cookie banners, they're completely annoying.

But please remember that it's not the EU's fault is every website is trying to violate your privacy.

If websites weren't tracking everything you do, then cookie banners wouldn't be needed.

I think we should collectively ask for websites to stop spying on us, not changing the cookie banners regulation.

And, honestly, I feel like there will never be an alternative to YouTube.

Hosting video costs a lot of money, it's not something anyone can do

And it's way better than social media

Being there for any season after 13 😏

But with Windows 11, you are sure it's compromised.

I can't speak for other countries, but in Italy YouTube pays a lot of money to the Italian copyright holders company for all the potentially pirated videos uploaded by its users.

Not only decentralization is not a feature -- it's a burden. "Normal" users (read: non nerds like 99% of us here) couldn't care less about which server they should sign up to.

You can always setup a nice Plex server and give them all the movies they want.

It's not like you can't unsubscribe from Netflix

iMessage is not considered a gatekeeper in Europe because pretty much nobody uses it. That's why it's extempted.

I agree with you. If a company writes off something in order to make it with zero, then that thing should immediately fall into the public domain.

We need to give Google time to properly index the app, since it's been released recently. I think they don't easily surface new apps in order to prevent phishing or spam.

By the way, leaving 5 stars and a review probably helps.

This news is very bad. Google shouldn't implement features that are outside of the scope of RCS, because then they'll not be compatible with Apple's implementation.

They should propose new features to be embedded in the standard.

Strong atheist. Not only I believe there are no Gods, I think religions are bad for humanity and society as a whole.

Honestly? I don't trust Meta, but I like that they're implementing federation.

It will allow me to follow famous people or brands that only have a Threads account through the privacy of my Mastodon/Lemmy/whatever app, so I'm not forced to use Meta's official apps, which are famously riddled with trackers and whatnot.

Some things are literally not available anymore by legal means. Piracy is an important tool in preserving content for future generations. Future historian will be proud of pirates.

Install SmartTube and use that instead of the official YouTube app.

It's even better than the real YouTube app because, unlike that, it's native.

Better yet, format Windows when you buy a new pc.

You can download a clean iso directly from Microsoft.

Especially US politics. I couldn't care less.

Or as some Americans say, "I could care less"

Honest question: how do you manage to navigate the modern web with JavaScript off? 99% of websites won't work.

From your stats, it's clear that the first fall was caused by Facebook and smartphones.

You are actually owning it, because you can download the DRM-free installer and keep it forever.

Please don't forget to fill in the form anyway, with fake data. This will let them believe there are more interested users than reality

They're allowing hashtags to have multiple words in order to make them uncompatible with both Xitter and Mastodon...
