Some things just shouldn't be connected to the internet.

Well, they would know wouldn't they.

Covered in the article. In Norway you are required to signal when exiting a roundabout. It's a fair concern.

Cable companies having a monopoly on internet in most areas affect almost everyone and should be dealt with though (it won't be though).

Someone smart is going to have to answer but it is the lack of rain that defines a desert rather than the temperature. I imagine this is determined by closeness to water, currents, and a million other things. Temperature I am sure is a factor, but far from the only one.

Now hopefully someone smart who actually knows what they are talking about answers. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I used to be able to search for a tracking number by Google and it would link to the correct delivery tracking service. About 1-2 months ago Google stopped doing this and just gives no results. Why would they stop linking you to FedEx or UPS? Who knows, but my wild ass guess is since Google was not able to link "related" sponsored links along with it they just removed the functionality. They are just actively making their service shittier anytime something minor doesn't dish out a shitty ad along with it.

I've gone on to using Kagi and DDG. Rarely do I miss Google search.

They really weren't that effective with Microsoft then either. The antitrust was far too late for Netscape and allowed Microsoft to hold a dominate market share with IE until they allowed the browser to deprecate and Google came in with a much better browser and took over the browser market (and are now doing the same bullshit).

As long as we keep giving these companies meaningless fines or wait until the damage is irreversible companies are going to always push the limit and look at any repercussions as just a cost of doing business.

So yeah, not much faith in anything changing.

If it wasn't $1600 maybe I could buy that. But at that price I am expecting a little bit more and only including 8 gb is pathetic.

It's all out there in the public filings. It's not a matter of taxes, the issue is they haven't made ANY charitable donations at all since 2014 despite publicly claiming they were. He may have not been aware of it for some time, but even after he said he discovered it he kept making public claims that his all the money was going to charities.

The money has just been sitting in an account paying administrative fees. The good news is most the money is still there and he has an opportunity to make it right.

Boogie. Not a favorite of mine and hated the Francis stuff, but I used to watch some of his gaming videos. He did his weight loss surgery about the same time as a relative so found that interesting. But good lord it's been a descent since then, all of it self inflicted. Be it saying something stupid, firing a gun within city limits while getting into a pissing match with some other YouTube idiot, or losing his money in crypto. It's hard to imagine someone that's fallen further than him.

Watched the documentary on him last month and then went through his channel and it was embarrassing.

Yeah, if you do a fair amount of YouTube and want to support the creators without queuing up a bunch of ads it's a pretty good deal.

Add in sponsors that some ass holes throw 2-3 in a video (FU LTT) and I don't know how people watch YouTube with ads. It sucks so bad.

I do pay for premium, but use smart tube on my android tv box and it feels so good when it rolls right past them.

Thanks for sharing, that was pretty nice. Does a good job of capturing the feel of an og Calvin strip.

Don't know how much I agree. They posted the numbers on their official site. And they were up for a few DAYS. If I am supposed to be held responsible for my mistakes, why shouldn't the lottery board? I hope he at least gets a sizable settlement. The amount of stress they put this guy through has to be kind of insane.

Another shortage of bleach you say? I guess we get to double the price again.

Spokesman Brian Weiss said that for safety reasons the group “has concerns” about letting customers completely opt out.

God, what ass holes.

Windows 7 is where Microsoft peaked imo.

Stable volume will be very nice if it works. Always jarring and annoying when you get that youtuber that plays an intro with blaring music and bass and then follows it up practically whispering his content.

That does not sound awesome either. I Leave the apartment locked up, return to find the front door wide open because the battery died while I was out getting milk.

My keypad lock has a regular lock as a backup... Why not just do that.

Breaking story?

Well are you factoring in the costs to the automobile like they mentioned? As they say they are a hidden cost and can be quite considerable long term as delivering pizzas adds a lot of wear and tear on a vehicle. When I delivered a LOOOONNNG time ago the costs really did sneak up on me. It was a fun job, and initially I thought it paid well - till I got a couple surprises.

In area I live, lots of farmers were definitely against it. Which is SOOOOOOOOOOO ironic. At least I think that's irony. Someone fact check me please.

Windows 7 was peak Windows. They smoothed out all the problems of Vista (plus hardware caught up to the recommended specs) and all the new tech that Vista introduced matured a bit. Was one of the nicest looking operating systems they ever released too - though that is highly subjective.

Everything after has introduced some form of garbage in it's iteration. Windows 8 had a garbage tablet interface that sucked when used with keyboard/mouse. Like the majority of devices that it was installed on. Windows 10 rolled back some of those shit changes but was the version Microsoft started implementing their adware. Windows 11 took it to 11 and put in a bunch of hardware requirements that conveniently required you to dump some money into Intel hardware.

Been running Linux for last six months and it is crazy how much better it runs. It isn't as cumbersome to use as the old days... But every once in a while I run into something that requires Googling and tweaking in Terminal. It's been my best experience with the OS though going back to WAY back (Mandrake and Slackware days - or are they still around? Early 2000's maybe???)

Might give George Martin some incentive to finish Winds of Winter though.

Works for Russia. Window sales going to see a surge if Trump gets elected.

Going from memory, people started posting the HD-DVD decryption key and Digg started removing all references to it to comply with take down orders.

There was a fair amount of controversy around it.

Not anymore though. They spun kfc, taco bell, and pizza hut years ago and they are under the yum brand now. They still have exclusive contracts regarding fountain. Not sure what other connections are left.

They address this on their website and go in further detail on their privacy policy. You'd have to read through that to decide if they do enough to earn your trust. But in my opinion not having any advertising removes most of their incentive to try to collect user data. I suppose there could be a temptation to collect the data to resell, but since a large portion of their income relies on the reputation of being a search alternative that has a focus on privacy I feel the risk to their reputation would be greater than whatever revenue that would generate.

Of course there are all kinds of companies that flew too close to the sun and sold out user privacy for a Coke and a smile. I've decided to go with Kagi and have been very happy with them so far. If they ever sell out I'll cash out, but they seem to be the best option for me right now.

“Farmers and consumers need to not only be able to trust the regulation of the products they use but trust that the government has made decisions based on agreed-upon and established science, facts and data.”

Yeah that's the thing. We DON'T trust any of you fucks.

Yeah seems like ignorance or maybe he got so held up on trying to make the best decision possible that he got into decision paralysis. It happens to all of us at some point. But fucking 10 years. At least the money is still there and hopefully this will get something rolling.

Microsoft's search engine is nowhere near as good as Google's.

I don't know... Googles search was clearly better five years ago. They clearly still have dominant market share, but they have been shitting up search results the last few years in the name of monetization a lot. I haven't found their results to be better than bing, at least not by a lot.

Their algorithm is still good, as if I use a search engine that sources from Google, the results are typically what I would expect. But from Google itself, the results have sponsored content barfed all over actual results and it takes a little effort to find what I was searching for.

I have gone on to alternative search engines and been so much happier. I will fallback on Google when I need to, but it's been extremely rare.

I would agree...except look at all the resources that were wasted trying to recover survivors from the Oceangate implosion.

I think the reality is, "boomer" as a term is here to stay and a moving target: as gen x ages into 40+

This is a nitpick, but gen x moved into the 40+ age group long ago. As a gen Xer I'll be in my 50's later this year. 🤮

And yeah, doom is peak Gen X probably.

I did the exact same thing. Also blocked androidtv updates in case Google starts pulling shit regarding custom launchers.

It's gross how ads are being crammed in every little nook of our lives. Not like the ShieldTv was a cheap device either.

Pretty sad to see Roku going down the same road. Guess forcing a third of the screen devoted to ads just wasn't enough.

THIRTY SEVEN???

I don't know, this is something that might be cool. But I'm not spending any significant amount of money on a Google project the way they cancel them on a whim. Good luck to them though.

Cool cashier!

Walter really didn't deserve a happy ending though. Had it ended there I would have been pretty disappointed.

It's happened:

Your cock is mine!

This is REALLY cool and helpful. I just tried it with the 3 accounts I have and it worked flawlessly.

Only suggestion would be to have the app check a servers defederated list and disregard any communities that you cannot subscribe too. This would prevent a lot of errors that happen when going through the sync. This is pretty minor as the app does seem to skip the community after the error but I suspect it would be a little faster if it just rejectected the community via internal software. Some users who are not aware of defederated communities may get confused by the errors as well.

Maybe this isn't very realistic? If it isn't, never mind. :)
