This is why I don't trust her releases. God knows what she'll put in them to try and get at her "enemies" during some psychotic episode.

I don't agree with these views at all, but I don't agree with the view that no one should use lemmy because of the opinions of the developers. Its an open-source project, just don't use anything hosted by them. Like I don't support the US military, but that doesn't stop me from using the internet.

I've loved Technology Connections ever since I saw his riveting hour long video on dishwashing detergent. I don't even have a dishwasher.

I can't read comments over there anymore, they've become some of the biggest bootlickers on the site. Moving to Lemmy was a very effective way to filter out all the dipshits.

🙄 "Saying slurs on a private forum is mah god-given right!"

There's plenty to criticize about Twitter and Threads, but the unmoderated parts of the internet are cancer.

Also pretending that Elon doesn't remove things he doesn't like is a joke.

I get the feeling that you don't understand that you don't need to sign up at the other instance to subscribe to the community. You can just click the link and subscribe from your current account, and everything will be as it was.

The US is nuts. You can vote from prison in Canada

My paranoia about data breaches has gone down so much since I started using email aliases and a password manager

30 fps and low graphics ia good by me. I grew up with old consoles, having something like Cyberpunk running on a handheld is insane to me.

I honestly don't get the whole "120fps 4K or literally unplayable" mindset. Ill notice the difference in a side-by-side, but other than that as long as theres little to no lag its perfectly fine.

It'd be cool to see Technology Connections. He's pretty active on Mastodon, I've seen him pop up in a thread here via there.

Also Louis Rossmann. He does AMAs like every other day on YouTube, he might be open to checking out another platform.

Trying to get people to use downvotes "properly" is a losing battle. Regardless of its original purpose it is, and always has been, a dislike button.

Only issue I'd see with the WAN show is that a large chunk of it is LTT meta discussion. If you don't watch/care about LTT that could get a little dull. Same with merch messages.

Yeah, developers of new instances should probably edit that out.

I don't think its a huge issue though, looking at that page the number of people who have donated more than $10 is like... a dozen.

Can you provide some evidence for your claim of US agents on staff for censorship purposes, as well as elaborate on which speech you believe is being removed?

99% of the time I see people upset about 'censorship' of online spaces, they're mad about far-right hate-speech or dangerous misinformation.

Kids

Very good, but very fucked up. Hit close to home in the lifestyle I lived as a teenager, just luck that things didn't end up like they did in the movie.

I love Lemmy, but I feel like people are overestimating the ability of the platform. Stability and usability issues aside, there's the question of why would John Oliver come here? We don't have any history of celebrity AMAs, and highest estimates of our userbase puts us at maybe 1% of reddit, or 1 million users. For comparison's sake Ashens has 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube, do you think he could suddenly decide to do interviews and have the pull to get someone like John Oliver?

I think reaching out to Christian Selig or Louis Rossmann as other commenters suggested is more realistic, and would probably be a better experience for everyone involved.

This is getting ridiculous. Every thread about this is just people parroting "embrace, extend, extinguish" and "enshittification" ad nauseam. No one is actually saying how they could accomplish that. Even if they're technically federated (which I doubt will happen, Meta will probably just want to federate with a couple of the biggest Mastodon servers) we will barely interact with them at all, think of how rarely Mastodon posts show up here. This is a grounded article on what's going on: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2023/07/what-to-know-about-threads/

What? I think anonymity was much more prevalent then. "Don't give anyone your real name on the internet, for anything ever" was a rule generally followed until Facebook came around. It wasn't even common for a non-business email address to be a variation on your real name until around 2008

Not American, but is that even constitutional?

It could have to do with the transfer of property vs. services. When you don't pay at a restaurant you're stealing property (food). Rent is a service, the landlord doesn't lose property if you don't pay rent.

Utility bills and rent and such are also contract disputes, there's no contract involved with a restaurant.

Or its down to intent. If it could be proven that you had no intention to pay a bill, that's probably criminal fraud. Conversely, if you're at a restaurant, refuse to pay and argue that service was inadequete, that'd be a civil issue.

Just spitballing here.

It comes from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare where you could interact with a casket in a funeral scene by pressing F.

"Press F to pay respects" was widely ridiculed and became a meme

That's probably not accurate. I did the same thing and it confidently told me it was a specific episode from a show called W.I.T.C.H., the episode didn't exist and the show didn't match the description.

ChatGPT makes shit up all the time, you need to fact-check it before copypasting answers.

Seriously don't understand managers like this. Also a manager, qnd I'll even find the coverage if someone needs a day off. I know how nerve wracking it is as an employee calling around asking someone to cover your shift, its a lot easier for me to send a mass text. Incidentally, the staff seem much more willing to pick up shifts this way.

Totally, I really wish the panic would die down. I'd love it if I could bring my friends over here, and there's no way they're going to do that without something like Threads.

Her parents? Wouldn't that make her more than 110 years old..?

Its nice to see this talked about on such a large channel

There would be some other doctor in the hospital that would sew you back up, that surgeon would go to jail for a while, you'd be on the news, win massive lawsuit.

The Mother series was a big one

Probably a good choice. Calckey sounds like an unmaintained spreadsheet software project. Firefish is better, if a little generic.

That link is dead for me. I wonder what constitutes "removable". I'd honestly be fine if it still required a spludger, but it required them to make it easily accessable and not loaded down with glue once you're in. And make OEM batteries available for sale.

No I think its a bug with lemmy. Sometimes it will say your post failed, when it didn't actually, so people end up hitting the button a bunch of times not realising they're spamming.

It can be handy for recovery

Mine's about the same range, but both in Alberta

It leaks out a bit if you watch enough of his videos. I don't get the sense that he's right-wing in a MAGA ultra-bigot way, he's just very very libertarian. Loose gun laws, low-taxes, government stay outta my life kinda guy.

Not the kind of politics I subscribe to, but I don't consider him to be a bad person for it.

I think you misread my post.

But if you watch some of his videos on NYC and moving to Texas he'll opine on some of his other views.

I made my own website with Microsoft Frontpage. Complete with "under construction" gifs and a visitor counter. I remember constantly refreshing to see if the visitor counter went up. It only ever did when I visited it.

Used to have a ton of fun with Frontpage, used to make simple games and stuff with it. I think I still have some saved on floppy disks.

If they want to succeed, they need to make an app. Classic Neopets on my phone? I would play the shit out of that.

It'd be great if /r/videos opened and only accepted these.

Thanks for crossposting! Wasn't sure if this was the right place for it.

I should say that this is probably not the best profile you can get, I don't 100% know what I'm doing, but I figured some kind of guide was needed here :)

Maybe if the police stopped playing so many violent video games, they would stop shooting kids.
