Greed. It's all driven by greed. It's not just social media companies either. My best guess to why it's happening now.. The boomers are aging out and want to take every last bit they can squeeze out before they retire/die.

I just did this. Beehaw acting stupid? Ok now I'm on lemmy.world. Just had to subscribe to the communities I like (a task that will later become trivial I'm sure). Only took a few minutes and I can move on with my day. Back reddit when the admins act stupid everything's fucked. I like it here

That real question is, what problem are we trying to solve? Then we can go from there.

Back in my day everyone knew that once you put something on the internet it's there forever to be seen by all. Has everyone already forgotten this? This is nothing new and in fact the way it's always been! Now get off my lawn!

As much as I dislike Adobe, Photoshop is something I can't get away from.

Second Sync for Lemmy. I don't care if people hate on me for using it. It's (currently) far superior.

It seems odd that a Russian would name blocks after US states.

I would cancel the new ISP on principal. Fool me once shame on you, if they fool me twice it's on me. I wouldn't give them the opportunity to fuck me again.

For now at least. I would imagine in time the duplicates may converge into one or the other.

The GIF file format needs to die. I'm glad lemmy doesn't support it out of the box. That shit was designed for animated images with a few frames and nothing more.

Indeed but the masses have been looking away or ignoring it the whole time. This is the beginning of society starting to get fucked. Soon the migrations will start. And the ones that can't relocate will suffer and become desperate. Desperate people do desperate things. There will be a snowball effect to this and it ain't gonna be cold.

I'm not sure there will be life on earth in 100 years.

This is how it begins.

May also have to do with reddit users wondering why all their favorite subs are now full of pictures of John Oliver and Wales (which are newer acts of protest).

RIF was able to do this without a fuss. I don't see why it'd be any harder for a lemmy app.

Holy shit some of those are comedy gold! These assholes are on the same team which makes it even more funny!

Maybe don't buy that bigass (sail)boat.

Spot on!

Connect for Lemmy is a pretty stable alternative.

This is amazing! Thank you!

Population: One

Been playing for over two years but the development team (which may or may not be one unpaid intern) has ruined the game to the point that few people even play it anymore. This used to be one of the greatest VR experiences you could have but now it's so full of bugs it's nearly unplayable.

Just a broken dumpster fire. This is what happens when Meta buys a studio.

It's a couple years old now but yeah. It started off pretty amazing. Meta is like the EA of the VR space. Buying and ruining everything it touches.

Awesome! Thanks for the link!

I made one that phrased it as "The sum of 2 and 3". Weeds out bots and less sophisticated people.

Sounds like a hardware issue. My first guess would be the power supply. People often overlook it or cheap out when they build their PC

I use both Firefox and Brave. I'm not sure if that makes me an asshole or not.

I wouldn't be surprised if RIF springs up too. I think devs are starting to see the magic happening here and it'd be easy'ish to port an existing app.

The incoming masses aren't going to understand any of that. They're going to install it off the Play Store, have it crash and say "fuck this lemmy bullshit" before going right back to reddit.

This is why I don't want to push too hard to bring the masses here. If every derp from reddit shows up it's just going to dilute the quality of lemmy.

12/20, I got all the photos and line art correct. The paintings and digital art were much harder to tell. Human artists aren't perfect so the usual tells don't really apply. I think I only nailed the line art because I've done a lot of line art myself.

DOOM

Fair enough. What's your solution?

Well Meta made it free to play so no harm in trying. They did cause a rush of children to join so the community isn't what it used to be. I suspect it'll eventually go the way of Echo VR.

On July 1st my reddit usage will be zero. Until then I take a peek once a day or two to post http://join-lemmy.org where appropriate.

They don't matter on an individual level. They do matter for keeping relevant content at the top.

Everything zombie said applies to KeePass as well. Except that it's free, open source, and no bullshit. Highly recommended. I've been using it for ages on all my computers and devices. Even my VR headset has KeePass.

The GIF file format needs to die. I'm glad lemmy doesn't support it out of the box. That shit was designed for animated images with a few frames and nothing more.

If I could snap my fingers today and make all the guns in the US vanish, tomorrow we'd be talking about IED's. I think the root problem is that americans have been squeezed to the brink and are losing their fuckin minds.

Please do not downvote people you disagree with if they're contributing to the conversation.
