The average consumer wouldn’t buy a block to begin with. I know quite a few guys that have spent thousands on their hardline setups, adding another $1000 CAD is a drop in the bucket to them. There is a market for it, just not a large one

My elderly mother has been using Linux for almost 10 years. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a single tech support phone call from her for it

Puked on my crushes foot at a party a few weeks back. Thankfully she’s cool and we still hang out lol

Myself and the guys I was referring to with crazy hardline loops are on first name basis with Linus, we all played left 4 dead together way back when before he even had a YouTube channel (ClosetGamer, anyone?) so his influence with these type of enthusiasts is still pretty strong, at least here in Canada. However he definitely lost a lot of respect with this response of his but honestly I didn’t expect anything different from him

Yes. I do this with switch games, in 10-15 years time those games will still be worth what I paid, if not more. I have some collectors editions and limited runs that are already worth 3-4x what I paid for them

They didn’t seize it. .ml TLD was contracted for 10 years to some Dutch dude. That contract expired on the 17th

Join PTP, RED etc and get access to the invite forums. FYI you won’t get an invite from a regular user, it takes years to get to the user class that gets invites

Fully charged. The steam deck draws power from AC when the battery is over 90%

Stardew valley can get like 5-6 hours of battery easy on the steam deck

Yeah it’s where most pirated FLAC content comes from these days

You can buy a quality Lexmark laser printer/scanner/fax for around $120 brand new, the included toner will last you a decade if you don’t print a lot. I’ve had mine for about 8 years and it’s still reading as 100% toner

It’s been proven in court that Apple refuses to decrypt locked iPhones or messages

.be and .to are free to use by anyone as set by the respective countries registrars, anyone that registers a .it domain outside of Europe is just asking for trouble

The only subreddit I miss is combatfootage, and we already have communities that fill that niche, albeit no where near as active

If they’re following tenancy laws to the T (which most rental corporations do as it’s in their best interests) there’s not much you can do. If the pool/hot tub is in your tenancy agreement you might be able to use that for leverage, but if it isn’t and access is just given as a “perk” then not much you can do there either. People can’t really give you advice without knowing where you live, either.

Yes. Hosting a service in a country other than where a TLD is designated for is bad practice and common knowledge for any web developer

Slide for Reddit dev announced yesterday he’s ceasing development on his Reddit app and releasing a lemmy app

As far as I’m aware lemmy does not support load balancing or high availability as it currently stands. But development is still in its infancy and I’m sure that’s a top priority

Both .tk and .vu are free to use by anyone with minimal restrictions. Paid .tk & .vu domains have no restrictions

I use BTN and RED as backups for Usenet, otherwise I don’t use torrents

Outer wilds will be in the next humble choice bundle fyi

Yeah, AirPlay works fine with flixtor. It shows up in the media player in the control center and allows you to airplay just like any other video

Trying out now, it’s looking great for the first alpha release!

That video of his solved all my woes of using my dishwasher lmao

What game is that? Sounds cool

The warranty is transferable though. If it’s still within the 1 year manufacturer warranty valve will still warranty it, as long as it hasn’t been reported stolen

I haven't played with ansible before but that looks like exactly what I want, thanks! I'll spin up a VM on my dev server at home and play around with it

Someone that is good with SEO could create a read-only instance that federates with every available instance to help with that

You can airplay any video playing on your phone with the AppleTV

You can get decent ones on Amazon for less than $500. I think I paid like 350 for my 12” deep one, I’ve rotated it every 3 months and it still feels like new a few years later

Switched from a pixel 5 to an iPhone 13 Pro 2 years ago when google removed smart home integration from the power menu. Other than the way iOS handles notifications I have no regrets, picked up a 14 pro max a few months ago and have been loving the full days worth of battery life, something I never achieved on any other phone.

You can build engraving lasers for less than $500. Lots of people have expensive hobbies, some decide to make content with them.

I would buy a helicopter, and hire a back country pilot to fly me to every mountain peak and glacier in my area

Get the SSD before anything else. 2TB can be had for $114

Thrifting. I’m always finding really cool stuff I can either use or resell for a profit

You can use it on pc though.

Threads does not use activitypub yet.

Ubuntu 22.04, bare metal. I followed this guide and the official docs as well as tweaked it for my needs. I posted my yaml in another comment as well

Yes

Switches Kailh box switches, they’re some of the best switches around. Keycaps are PBT so they’re good
