I think being in direct contact with another known member with similar intent would do it

Being aware of local and state government is always a good thing to do and so much stuff is streamed since Covid. It makes you an informed voter and it's where most of the stuff that impacts you will take place. Marijuana is one example of the impact of state law winning out despite federal law.

Reach out in any form you choose. Get to know them and what they stand for through their actions. Explain how things will effect you and people you know. Like anywhere else being an asshole is not the way to go. You might not change their mind but reminding them that everyday voters are paying attention has an effect even if you respectfully disagree.

It sounds a lot like what many conservative people have been doing for a while. See the YT channel Dirty Civilian. They might not align with you politically but the info they present is free

Lemon and orange are the easiest scents to achieve from a chemistry standpoint. It probably complements the base smell of a product easier.

Fun fact A professor once told us that a molecule's chirality can make a diffeence. For example Limonene can either smell like pine or oranges depending on what way the molecule is mirrored.

The old school Rainbow Six games were my gateway drug to the book.

The plot is essentially "what if tree huggers went batshit and weaponized a virus" so take that for what you will but the training and operations in that book were facinating to me. I saw it as world building for one of my favorite games of the time

If you want a "cheaper" option to try I'd give Minus 33 a chance. If it works for you great! If not it's not as expensive as it could have been.

I do share other commenter's concerns about overheating. The line I've heard is "be bold start cold"

Email spam is already bad enough I don't need that shit built in

If a nuclear missile is launched at the United States the President has just 6 minutes to come to terms with that and decide to launch a counter attack or not.

If that counter attack is headed to North Korea, any land based missiles will head over the arctic circle, over Russian airspace where similar shoot/no shoot decisions will have to be made in a similar timeframe.

Haven't we learned to not mention the shooter's name in media? Don't give them any fame or infamy for anyone to aspire to.

seahorse intensifies

The houthis were launching missiles and drones at civilian ships in the red sea for weeks before these strikes took place.

If the us/eu goal is to protect said traffic you can't expect them to do nothing.

I think Kamala has much better odds than Biden did this time around. The assassination attempt on Trump was crazy and solidified his supporters.

I think it's a closer race than either side thinks

That whole situation was just....sad.

UXOs are no joke. Imagine how long that was just sitting there before it was discovered!

It can be hard to find fediverse instances and content inside of them. They are working to make things easier to search for on Mastadon. With a little work it could be used with (and between) many things on the fediverse!

Scenario based creative problem solving involving abstract ideas and imaginative visualization?

I know Houthis have their motivations and shit is complicated but when you mess with civilian ships you mess with the economy. The US doesn't like that. When you mess with US civilian ships they really don't like that. About the only thing worse is attacking the US Navy directly.

I guess my point is firing at US related anything in a shipping lane has got to be one the fastest ways to get explosives delivered to your location.

It also goes to show how laws made during the moral panic don't go away even decades after that panic fades.

This is often in mind when responsible gun owners are critical of more gun laws. The govt won't go "that was silly of us here's your bit of freedom back" even if a law objectively had zero positive effect

The CIA world factbook is pretty good for this kind of stuff

A guarantee of deploying to europe would be great for military retention! Everyone is tired of fighting forever wars in the desert

I think that improving your resilience as an individual citizen is important. I'm not saying the zombie robots are coming, but that if the climate is getting worse (it is) and local weather also gets worse (it will, just a matter of how much) you can't count on food, water, power etc to be on hand 100% of the time.

It's amazing how many people act like having a small garden, a solar panel to charge devices and some jugs of water just in case is some unspeakable crazy talk

Your ability to focus on one thing voluntarily

"Leadership is simple. Take care of your people and make a decision."

This is from a USAF Major who was once one of the first dudes in Afghanistan after 9/11, working with green berets when he was enlisted. He said that it's amazing how easy it can be to lose sight of those two basic things.

I imagine that's only if you market it as drugs.

"Hey you got the good drugs?" "Yeah here"

But what if you played the long con, started....say a salt distribution ring. Have a run down house full of it, sell it in baggies, make it look as suspicious as possible only for them to do stakeouts, get informants in there, just to find you are not doing anything illegal at all, it just has all the signs without the actual law breaking. If you call it salt they'll probably think it's a code name for a drug

"Hey you got the good salt?" "Yeah here"

goes back to the police lab

"wtf? It's just salt?"

Then they would just think the informant got compromised and have to raid the house lol

Shadows of Doubt! Its this sci fi noire game where you play as a cop that became a private eye detective. Their police force was replaced with privatized "enforcers" that uphold the policy of the new corporate government.

You solve crimes the enforcers won't and take on side jobs to stay alive, upgrade your apartment and build enough social credit to retire to "the fields"- a suspiciously utopian retriement zone far away from the grime, storms and thick smog of the city.

This is an immersive sim. Kind of like a procedurally generated Deus Ex. You can interact with a lot of stuff turn on sinks, open cabinets, read email and newspapers, eat food, watch tv and drink alcohol until you can barely stand.

When it comes to solving crime you can sift through camera footage, take fingerprints, crawl through air ducts, ask people for information, hack into govt databases and more. You put all of the clues on a big conspiracy board in the menu until you find the murderer and bring them in....before they kill again.

It's kind of important. Boss says "every 10 minutes you need to flip this switch the opposite direction". It's just a switch on a wall. Sure you can just do it blindly and never know why, you're still getting paid after all. Or you can ask. Maybe it changes a signal to prevent collisions between trains. Maybe it tells all the sliding doors to open at a shopping mall in New Jersey. Maybe it drops treats into a pet enclosure. Or maybe it is really truly wasting your time.

If you can't directly see the results from doing/avoiding a thing, having the purpose explained helps.

You have the info and you can care as much or as little as you like

Temp has an effect on all batteries. Wouldn't hurt. And keeping it dry will keep metal parts from rusting as quickly

No need if we donate a little now and then, like wikipedia

The bulbs themselves are amazing. There are good ones in cars and computers, the flash of phones etc.

The failure point is typically the electronic components that run or regulate it. And of course most companies want to sell more bulbs so they conveniently skimp on that stuff. So maybe the answer is a more expensive bulb that hopefully will last long enough to justify the extra cost?

This is general advice regardless of party.

Look at your your town/city govt and keep an eye on meetings (a lot are streamed now post Covid). Know the people in office and what they are for/against. Focus on actions more than words. Vote for people you believe in and keep in contact with them. They can be surprisingly approachable.

Act similarly at the state level. Know and pay attention to the justices, senators and representatives. Reach out on issues you find important.

Being informed on govt and politicians doesn't happen through ads and comment sections, and it doesn't stop when elections are over. Do what you can where you can for what you believe in.

And maybe just maybe it will result in a solid Presidential candidate

If everything works out okay yay.

If everything goes to shit republicans have nobody to blame because they have a majority everywhere and we can vote them out.

And the democrats got a wakeup call they can learn from (but they played the same 2016 tactics and got the same 2016 prize so we'll see if anything sticks next time)

I can't say I miss incandescent bulbs, but holy fuck I miss the warm lighting they provided. Why does everything have to be so damn blue?

Target id is very important. Weapon lights are important. This shit will haunt him for the rest of his life.

As a wise friend once said about home repairs "It's easier to keep up than to catch up"

You can do a lot at once, you can do a little all the time but either way you have to clean regularly to stay on top of it.
