Ya wanna know the best way the US can fight propaganda? Take steps to enact real change in the current quality of life for the middle/lower class here. When people aren't fighting to live, it is easier to overlook the current governmental issues. Not saying that complacency is what people should be fighting for, but it is legitimately the best way for the government to fight foreign adversary's propaganda.
The main issue is with mainstream media's "both sides" approach. They will not show how far gone the Republican party is because that would drive away what little "centrist"/Republican viewers they have, which would cut into profits. If you showed every new story that came out about a Republican saying/doing some fascist ass shit, people not in the political scene would label you as a biased liberal.

When it comes to these issues, it is good to do some research to see if there is already an established researched reason before asking for random people's opinion on it. Sometimes, people get stuck in "bad" echo chambers that try to justify certain behaviors. The best thing to do is look up some studies on the issue to form an educated opinion on it.
