Reddit refugee. Sorry if I double post/comment, just trying to help the community grow but there are growing pains.

Because we saw what happens with Reddit. People come in claiming to be “moderate”, and very quickly shit like T_D starts popping up. Also center of the road politics in the US has had rights taken away from millions of people in just the past year, and it’s going to continue to erode them from more. I’m not telling you to change your political stance, but I am telling you that people see them as an attack because they have literally been attacked by “moderates”.

Why? He doesn’t pay his bills.

That’s actually really helpful. And for once, we get cross platform to PC!

Here I was hoping it would be new magazines for me to sub too. Gonna take a while to acclimate to new terminology.

Disney also overpaid taxes and things like that. He really wants to slaughter the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Spez is lying out of his ass in that AMA. “Reddit isn’t profitable”. Bitch! You’re telling your VCs are fine propping you up for almost 20 years without returns? I smell bullshit.

It’s already been reversed because of how badly it did.

God I miss that 89 Accord… I was young and it was already old. RIP my first car.

They said something along the lines of “the real mission is to test the human spirit”, so if almost seems like the mission was an expirement to see if they could depend on the system for real crucial missions.

That’s the only logical explanation. Their reality has the ability to instantly transfer consciousness, build completely lifelike Android-clones, create artificial gravity. The only way the whole thing “works” is if it’s more a psychological expirement.

Isn’t the whole point of “toast” that it’s bread that is toasted? How can sushi, an undeniable raw food be “toast”? I’ll accept the cube rule, but toast needs a new classification.,

Sometimes no service is better than bad service?

Federal rulings set a legal precedent and can then be used in future rulings. So all of her court decisions can/will be used in the future to convince judges to make similar rulings.

So pardon my ignorance but if you’re on lemmy and beehaw defederated, you wouldn’t be able to see any beehaw content, right?

I’m genuinely still trying to figure it all out still.,

I agree Musk isn’t a visionary. At one time I might have argued differently, but with his public face and Twitter disaster it’s pretty evident that he’s just a rich guy who finds something neat and throws money at it.

Yeah, I’ve been on it for a few days while I’m traveling. It’s a lot better now that cloudflare has been removed. But it’s still not great. Mostly I need more magazines. m/all is filled with the same ones over and over and they aren’t quite my vibe.

But like… how did all get created? Is it literally just pulling from all federated instances?

Are you saying ravioli is not a dumpling?

I am joining you in the tamales are a pie camp though.

If spez was smart, he’s not, he’d find a way to get musk to pay twice the value of it.,

I believe beehaw only degenerated from lemmy. If you’re on kbin you can still see both.

Is there a reason to make personal instances versus using kbin.social ?

And sometimes you just really want to fuck good tamale… I mean mother.. I mean calzone!

When you say add a community, do you mean subscribe to it like you would on Reddit?

So I joined one cell, but due to an underlying nerve network, I can see what’s going on in other cells and vice versa, unless someone pops off the limb. Right?

So me reading lemmy devs updates is telling me what’s going on in their cell, but it doesn’t directly affect my cell, yeah?

So you’re using kbin, but sub’d to the m/c hosted on lemmy.world, and responded to it via your kbin account? Right?

Shit, in the US the police aren’t even required to intervene.

He didn’t steal Tesla, he bought it. He’s been an investor since the first round. The guy is a complete piece of shit, but he is/was a good salesman. He’s the South African Steve Jobs. He doesn’t create/build, but sells.

Demon79 is what you get if O. Henry wrote a 60s/70s thriller. It doesn’t fit Black Mirror at all beyond the “there’s a twist”.

That said, I loved it. Give it a rewatch but go in as you would for Insudious, The Conjuring or any other creature feature. It shifts the expectations and helps a lot.

Someone stop reality, I want to get off

This will in no way cause consumers to become angry and absolutely will not cause a giant headache and back pedaling for Meta.

I’m going to chime in, but fair warning, it’s just what I think, so I could be wrong.

The .social doesn’t actually mean it’s only for social things. It’s similar to a .com or .org. We can put anything we want up on it, similar to Reddit. We can have threads about non-sense similar to r/askreddit, or very detailed discussions similar to r/askhistorians or r/science.

I believe at the moment kbin and lemmy aren’t talking to each other, or if they are, it’s more complicated than it should/will be in the future. The whole point of these sites is “federation”, each is its own little mini-group/site/“Reddit”. Like the US is made of states. At the moment I’ve heard kbin federation is either turned off or not working, so believe the borders are closed. But eventually it’ll be turned back on and we will be able to visit other federated sites/places like lemmy and mastodon.

At the moment I think the big difference is the UI and how things look on your originating site. But as things grow moderation and content will also be a difference. In theory maybe you don’t like the way the gaming part of kbin is moderated but you like lemmy’s, you’ll be able to see posts and visit that site through kbin one day.

Also, a magazine on kbin is basically a subreddit. You subscribe to it, like you would a magazine. Then you can see the posts. Boosts are apparently like following a hashtag on Twitter, but I never did Twitter, so I don’t know exactly.

I see any “announcement” by Reddit as pathetic attempts to regain legitimacy. Ain’t gonna happen. If Spez is fired and all connections to him are severed I might sniff around Reddit again. But it would be like getting a drink with an ex you’re over. I wouldn’t be there to rekindle anything, just morbidly curious how big of a dumpster fire they are.

Wonder if leopardsatemyface has made it over

@Mintyytea

I didn’t make that, so thank you!

@Mintyytea

I think you post a new link, you just don’t include a url

I’ll give you that, but still, it’s certainly not toasted.

I’ll have to do that when I’m on desktop. I’m on iOS safari at the moment.,

Aside from ultra-local burger place, it’s Del Taco. I used to be exclusively Taco Bell, but for the past 5 years or so it’s been the reverse. Deal Taco tasted better, better variety and loads their tacos up with more ingredients.

One of my niche subs went dark and has stayed dark, which I respect. But there was no mention of an alternative before hand, so now I have nowhere to discuss it.

All posts must be pictures from the movie Hackers.

Hack the planet!

Also, I see threads that are originating on kbin.social referring to lemmy and lemmings as if we are in lemmy.
