Any of you remember Kitzmiller v. Dover? It was a case that essentially ruled that teaching ID/creationism was a theological doctrine and thus couldn't be included in the biology curriculum of schools across the country. While the issues here at not the same (teaching creationsim vs mandatory bible studies), they have the same ideological underpinnings. Unless we're talking about Sunday school*, schools must remain secular institutions where discussions of religions are from a neutral perspective in regards to the humanities. As to regards to a hypothetical Supreme Court case: considering how ultra-conservative the Supreme Court has become in recent years, I fear that they might side the theocrats.

*Are those still a thing?

True. I think I'll switch to Arch proper soon.

Or you could take the Dream Theater route and end the song abruptly.

Didn't know if it was supported but this clears it up. Thanks.

As much as I to be optimistic, I doubt this will pass. So long as Wall Street is still a thing don't expect any sort of regulations. Continue to buy second-hand, OEM unlocked phones on eBay.

Do I have to use PC receiver or is that unnecessary?

The stalker argument is absolute bullshit. A stalker would most likely not use the flight path of Swift's private jet as a means of stalking her; it would be too cumbersome. Additionally, this is not "willful and repeated harassment" of Swift since Mr. Sweeny, as stated in the title and the article, obtained the information from public data provided by FAA. The intent of Mr. Sweeny's tracking project was not to expose Swift to nefarious individuals but to expose the environmental impact of her private jet. The rich and famous are public figures and, as such, are open to criticism from the public. This is merely a flex (and a futile one at that) by someone with the resources to silence critics.

Remember: Criticizing the actions of the STATE of Israel is not antisemitic.

That was cringe but I think a better reason NOT to return to reddit is the fact that they just sold out their users to an AI company that hasn't even been named.

Not this shit again. This pseudo-scientific nonsense has been debunked numerous times already. You would think that this would be a dead conspiracy theory but here we are debating this once more. This is what happens when you have an scientifically illiterate population.

Oh boy! It's "Cultural Marxism" all over again. I wonder if an incel somewhere is going to use this as a justification for committing mass murder, a la a certain Norwegian.

Hackers are the only saving grace in this increasingly dystopian world.

I expect to see this shit go down somewhere like Alabama or my home state of Tennessee or even Utah but Seattle? I thought Seattle was one of these "progressive" cities. What the fuck is going on?

My home state once again proving America's push towards theocracy.

While I don't wish death on the man (or anybody for that matter regardless of how I feel about them), Charles has been known to promote pseudoscience and quackery to the general public. It would be highly hypocritical of him to use mainstream medicine when he promoted utter nonsense to commoners. But, again, I don't wish for his death; I would be an insensitive asshole for wishing otherwise. He is human after all.

Hey Texas, I know that you're _anti-abortion_ pro-life and all but if you don't want your state's teens getting pregnant you should provide adequate birth control measures...for free! Or would that displease Sky Daddy?

The thing that I love most about Lemmy and the wider Fediverse is the sense of actual community. Many of the users feel like actual people I could meet in real life. It's essentially a digital cafe. Sure as hell not going back to Reddit or those other shit Big Tech sites.

You wouldn't run a script to ensure the proper functioning of your lungs.

Imagine hating your opponents so much that you refuse to pass a bill that would benefit so many Americans out of fear that it might give your opponents an advantage and a PR boost.

The EU may not be perfect but they're at least getting shit done.

Watch the wannabe theocrats praise this man as a "hero doing Sky Daddy's work!"

Big Milk will not accept any threat to their cash cow! This is outrages!

Wouldn't depriving someone of their right to their preferred identity be considered a threat to human dignity?

Key word: directly. Banks may say that they won't fund fossil fuels but doesn't mean the money will disappear. Someone else can get the money for them. What Barclays has essentially done is add extra step for oil companies to get their financing. Remember people, banks and corporations are not are our friends. Anytime they claim to take up a social cause - be it climate action, LGBT issues or what have you- it is not for our benefit but for the benefit of their bottom line.

I've been wanting a Framework so bad. When I start working again (which should be soon), I'm going to save up for one.

Say no to theocracy!

If Hell is real, there's special place there for Andrew Wakefield, Joseph Mercola, and Jenny McCarthy.

We will miss you. We won't let those corporate egomaniacs take over.

It's always the self-righteous, "holier-than-thou" types. Remember, when these so-called holy men talk about the "evils" of porn and casual sex it's a self report.

While I'm yet to do it myself, I would suggest getting a Thinkpad T480 and upgrading its RAM. The reason you want a T480 is because it was the last Thinkpad to have user removable parts. One tip: when using eBay, make sure you filter out the T480s. The T480s is not the same as the T480 since it doesn't have user removable parts.

There's something about having a lot of money that makes you hate mother nature. It's weird.

How can I tell if a piece of physical media (Blu Ray in particular) has DRM on it as to avoid purchasing it?

Of course. Just remember this when buying a laptop (and by extension a printer): FUCK HP!

ABSOLUTELY HARAM!..... two shots of Don Julio Reposado please.

Full disclosure: I didn't read the article and only read the bulletin points. However, that last point really convinced me leave Scamsung. When I got my current S21 Ultra, I was bummed to find out that I couldn't root it. I'm about to buy a Pixel 7 Pro and never look back.
