Disposable products are gonna have problems to keep them cheap. The solution to straws is non-dispossble straws, always was.

Also this is still a silly topic, straws won't save the planet.

According to Google trends, the people who left are an insignificantly small number, Reddit has still grown in search popularity over the last year. However, if you've browsed Reddit since the shutdown, you know that this isn't the whole story, engagement and quality are both down.

Prior to reading your comment, I considered myself to be a skilled software developer.

Before buying a Bethesda game and expecting a good experience, expect a bad experience instead.

Funnily enough, that's how a lot of people will describe their user experience as well.

The environmental issue here isn't really that they will re-enter, but that we will need to use lots of rockets to replace them. Rockets produce a ton of greenhouse gasses, but no one really cares because we don't launch a lot of them. However, if we start launching rockets far more frequently to replace disposable space debris, then we're gonna start hitting big numbers.

$100 off of a $2000 replacement, the rest of which will have to be done out of pocket. "We're down with offering a recall, but we had to make sure it lines our C-suite's pockets first."

VSCode is an open source IDE. Its biggest rival is the JetBrains suite. When the alternatives are proprietary, VSCode is a win.

The problem probably was that Coke isn't in the soda creating business. People already drink a ridiculous amount of sodas. Coke is in the soda cheapening business, the only thing left for them to do is cut corners until making soda costs nothing. New sodas are just an opportunity for them to redefine cheap to a new low. This is why you should buy independent, small scale soda companies. Their entire business model is making something better than Coke.

To be fair, the pi's have always been famous for low quality sound cards, so there's plenty of hats that can add the functionality.

The single greatest theft in gaming history. People will defend this unfinishable mess for decades to come.

Kind of terrible that we ever got to this point. I've seen announcements from government agencies that are ONLY available on social media. Who thought that was okay?

CS2 feels like a downgrade from CSGO in a lot of ways, but CSGO at launch and CSGO at end of life were two completely different games, the same is probably true for CS2. Long term support is what keeps games going.

They may be able to sue for discriminatory hiring practices then. Sounds like a clean case...in any supreme court but the one we have...

It is nothing more than an internet connected terminal. Once you're logged in to a server, the firestick is only sending/receiving small chunks of text.

Ice cold take. Space programs are almost entirely about increasing domestic production with a strong R&D and training emphasis.

If I were the GOP, I'd be more worried about taking revenge on the GOP, ya know, the ones who called for the vote, and then provided the swing votes.

I would be fine with PDFs exactly the same except Adobe doesn't exist and neither does Acrobat.

Actually getting a good ending to the ASOIAF after GRRM dies is gonna be one of the big turning points that transforms everyone's opinion on AI.

It's gonna be like fan edits for movies. People will debate which is the better version of the story. The only person hurt by this is George, who will be dead and was never going to finish the books anyways.

If they own shares, then they want the company to succeed. A better question is "why are they allowed to sell those shares until they quit?" And the answer to that question is that everyone with enough power to change this also enjoys the current system.

There are other query languages. InfluxDB develops one called Flux. It's a master class on why corporate led open source can really suck. Daily use features get deprecated all the time and each new release is breaking. The documentation is horribly insufficient and the language syntax is usually not clear and it wraps many behaviors into one vague function name. Yes, SQL is pretty impressive.

Just canceled Comcast after about 10 years. Recently moved, and after a month of difficulties getting my account transferred and losing my discounts I wanted to rollover due to salesman incompetence, I finally talked to someone who seemed ready to finish fixing everyone's mess. I end the call with a sigh of relief, only to get an email a few minutes later with the wrong address on my account. The idiot was helping two customers at once and mixed us up. After a few more days of long calls, someone sorts it out and decides to order me a streaming box I explicitly said I didn't want. Turns out, if you don't plug in the streaming box, they'll force you to return it, and if you don't return it, they bill you for the BOX THEY GAVE ME FOR FREE. I try to return it online, but I can't, in fact, the online portal says I have no equipment under my account. Why? Because the streaming box is still mixed up in an account I don't have at the other address. Whatever, I can cancel and move on with my life. Within two weeks of canceling, they sold my email to a bunch of scammers, and I know it was them because the email was unique for Comcast.

This is why companies like Adobe fight open source at every level and will never support Photoshop on Linux. Freedom is contagious.

I shopped at gems n gems (website) while ring hunting. We're literally talking a dollar a gem, buy 50 or 100 if you want to make sure you get something you'll like. I ended up not going with that option because I'd end up needing a local jeweler and wasn't enthusiastic with my options, but still went synthetic from an online jeweler.

The really nice part about this is that this is exactly what Signal says they can share, and have been forced to share in the past. It's a tested history of complete policy transparency.

The Irishman. The fact that I lost 3 hours to that pointless slog is so painful I'd rather just forget all about it. I'll never get those 3 hours back, but at least the regret will be gone.

You'll also get higher quality files. Spotify can't play CD quality music. Apple and Tidal make a massive deal about being able to play "high quality audio", but it's a lot less impressive when you find out they really just meant CD quality, which had been around for almost 30 years. A real 24 bit flac takes longer to download than to play. Real high quality audio will never be streamed.

Double whammy

Most advice I've seen says you shouldn't look for distros on torrent sites, and official torrents tend to disappear after each new release.

Glitter is not a major micro plastic source, and people who buy glitter are probably not people who are worried about micro plastics anyways. Car tires are so much more of a micro plastics source that it's almost not worth worrying about other sources until we figure that one out.

Linux is a pathway to Unix socks

Valve has to buy up all the modders because they can't afford to have them making mods that fix CS2 that end up killing the player base on the main game.
