Honestly this is a pretty big deal. Mario Kart 8 has been an absolute sales juggernaut. It's been largely speculated that mario kart 9 has been delayed just because 8 keeps on making millions. It's just so uncommon to see a game sell in such huge numbers for over 6 years like that, especially because the game itself is way older than that and it didn't even get any expansions/dlc until very recently.

She cares about the environment man! And and she like, stood in front of an oil port!! I can't think of anything more extreme leftist terrorist than that

If by emulation you mean your ability to emulate, absolutely not. Its a portable program, you can find countless mirrors of the downloads or ask someone you know and trust for a copy. If you mean active development in 3DS emulation... Yeah probably dead.

Oh my god... WHERE'S EPOXY HOTDOG GUY?!

You know, I don't think I've ever thought about your second point. That's a pretty great idea!

Since you have more experience with it, could you elaborate on what the real difference between kbin and lemmy is in your opinion? I keep hearing that kbin can interact with Lemmy and Mastadon, so it sounds like its just "better", but I feel like thats gotta be a very oversimplified understanding.

Yeah pretty much. As soon as facebook broke the ice on "never use your real name on the internet" it was over. Now we have entire generations that were introduced to the internet as one that was ruled by social media sites. They were never even taught the same online safety stuff that we grew up with.

Well said, the problem is, I post nothing on instagram. So my presence on pixelfed is not at all a reason for anyone in my circle to join lol. I imagine since we're all the nerds of our families/friend-groups here, this is probably the case for a lot of us.

If this happens again, and youre really insistant on reading that answer, people are saying the wayback machine should have that info for you. It's sorta a win-win because you still get your answer and reddit doesnt get the revenue from your usage.

Funny that you mentioned 2048 specifically, that one got me on the high way one time. For half a second I thought I could get past traffic if I compressed all the cars in front of me into the right lanes.

On a similar note, they make healies in adult sizes. Got a pair for my 21st as a gag gift, and ended up using them to walk my dog all the time. He's a lil guy, but hes a dense 15lbs of muscle and he could pretty easily pull me up to that "oh shit" speed.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate! I just recently got Citra emulator running on my steam deck and it runs great. Plus, Citra can emulate local multiplayer over the internet, so I'm playing with my old buddy who moved to california. Just like we did back in our highschool days.

In the context of remasters, the same thing happened with Dark Souls 1 and its remaster.

Ironically enough, starting with Philosophy gets you to a loop that includes "logic", "reason", and a few others, but never leads back to philosophy.

James and the giant peach was already an all around unsettling movie, but that thunderstorm rhino scared the bejeebes out of me as a kid.

Man I remember watching this happen in realtime to r/AbruptChaos. There were two simple rules 1.the video must start out calm 2. there must be an abrupt moment where multiple things start happening at once. It slowly went from every post being great, to more than 90% of them being chaos the entire video or only having one bizarre event. Idk if it was moderation getting loose or karma-farming or both but hopefully its a while before that starts happening here.

Man thats super awesome. I remember going to parks in the early 2000's and seeing people flying those things, and they were always the coolest people there. Are there communities for it, or do you mostly just do it for gigs?

Absolutely! I've made adaptors and replacement bits for my and my brothers 90's cars. The kind of little plastic bits and clips that aren't nearly crucial enough for anyone to make anymore. That and custom desk/cabinet organizers are the kind of thing that you can only reasonably accomplish with a 3D printer.

There are certainly other ways that you can just save money, but I've found the most satisfying thing is when you find a niche like this that simply could not be done without a printer. I don't even have anthing crazy expensive, I did most of my printing on an Anet A8 and only recently "splurged" by getting a prusa mini.

I wonder how much that comes out to per user. Im sure its not negligable, but I have a hard time believing a few hundred text posts and images actually take $8/mo (lookin at twitter) to store on a server.

I have no clue about the old launcher, but the current launcher allows you to select any version all the way back past alpha. It was a lot of fun to try to hunt down which version I probably first played.

I like that perspective! But at the same time, if the user's are both the producers and the consumers, where does that leave the platform hosters. We gotta pay our tax at somepoint if we wish to have the space to produce and consume.

I've always been a wikipedia donator, but with the fediverse its a little bit harder. I don't ascribe to one community/instance more than any others, but I don't want to have to figure out how to spread my donation accross all the instances that I interact with. If everyone just donates to where their home account is, does that balance itself out?

Hmmm interesting points. Those numbers do look pretty steep for a server with only 20 users, but I can see how there's more too it than just the costs of a server. Im sure its also harder if you have a server that ends up hosting big communities but has few users.

I did it myself with my note 9, which I would guess is about the same difficulty level. It was honestly not so bad, you just wanna really take your time and especially have a lot of patience with the screen. The other possibility though is that you have some compressed fluff deep inside the port. The only thing I've ever gotten deep enough to fish that stuff out is a sowing needle.

Well something certainly seems to have been done

I'm the oldest of three and we're tight as could be. We hop online with our additional brother from another mother at least once a week, sometimes twice if we have time. It started because my best friend (mentioned earlier) was one of the few individuals on this planet with a gamecube AND all 4 GBA link cables. So he would come over all the time while we were still in highschool and my younger bros would join for FF: Crystal Chronicles or Zelda Four Swords. Later it became Smash Bros or Mario Party and whatever other coop game we could find. As we each moved out, and some away from our home city, we picked an established day of the week to be our online boiz day so we'd never lose contact. It's always a joyous occasion when we can fly everyone back into town and hang out in-person.

I'm also very new to lemmy so forgive me if I'm a bit mistaken here, but I saw a decent analogy on the dbzero instance. An Instance is like a street and the communities are like businesses in that street. You can go to multiple streets (instances like lemmy.world, lemmy.ca, etc) and find a macdonalds (/c/technology) on each one. You can walk into each and expect to find the same-ish fries (content) but the people will be different, and if you talk to someone at macdonalds on 1st (technology@lemmy.world) you won't hear a response from someon at the macdonalds on 2nd (technology@lemmy.ml).

EDIT: But of course importantly, those streets are adjacent to eachother (federated) so you (your account) can walk freely between them even though you live on 1st street (lemmy.world)

That's how I'm trying to make sense of it anyway

That's awesome! Are there any draw backs to the debian version? I feel like they'd just abandon Ubuntu if there was really no difference.

Fire emblem and advance wars are also great picks!

Ah yeah, I guess I could have checked the rest of your profile name lol. That's very cool! It's really making me think more about which instance I wanna stick with as a primary.

That's beehaw right <.< Quick curiosity, does that extend to other instances for you? Or can you still downvote as long as it's not on a community within your own instance? I didn't make my own account there, but I read the explanation for no downvoting and I felt like it made a lot of sense.

So simple, and yet so nice too look at :)

My SO also gets a lot of great travel and cooking tips from Tik Tok. She only recently made her reddit account lol. But that is for a medical forum, so also one that I dont expect to transition. Luckily for me, almost everything I used to follow was techy in some way, so I'm not bothered by the difference in content over here.

The AI really just said "Stop being such a try-hard, its a game."

Definitely true at the moment as I'm trying to understand how this all works and where I want to be within it! I'll have to see if I go back to my lurking ways after the curiosity has died down, but so far I kinda like being able to pick communities not just for what they have, but also what the vibes are. I always hated negative stuff in r/gaming and other game subreddits, but I loved r/lowsodiumcyberpunk. I think beehaws gaming community seems so cool because of their emphasis on be(e)ing nice.

I still play pubg. It's a total dogshit game and the only players clinging to it are the crazy competative try-hards. BUT I've got my 3 buddies that I play with and its a great time because of that. I would never recommend it to anyone playing alone tho

They finally did it?? I was using the thunder-something fork for a while because of that, but I always prefer sticking with the base project if I can.

I'm not 100% certain as I'm pretty new here, but my account is with lemmy.ca and it seems like I can see and ineract with both beehaw and lemmy.world. If you're interested in the beehaw communites but still want access to the defederated communities, just going with a smaller instance for your account seems to work fine.

My work calls for me to log addresses and map them out a ton. I can tell you from experience that there can be an 1191 11th Ct, 1191, 11th Ave, and 1191 11th Dr all within one block. It's infuriating enough for me just mixing them up, I can't imagine driving around not realizing that the other two even exist would make it way more confusing.

I've got a lot of faith in good Steamdeck communities making it here because of it's whole linuxy right-to-repairy nature. I wonder even if well see communities like that surpass reddits' sooner than others.

Its sorta funny and cathartic reading your comment. I'm not a dad, but I did just get a house with a yard. Lately yardwork, which is something I HATED as a kid, has become quite a hobby for me too.

I find it hard to play very immersive AAA games nowadays, but I do use my steam deck for short indie games or nostalgia plays of old protable games via emulator. I find if I just keep it charged and near my bed or couch, I'll reach for it whenever I'd otherwise scroll social media.
