Preach it brother. Enlighten the unwashed (m)asses.

This is the right answer. Of course marginalized groups tend to colonize new communities, because the big platforms, both because of their top-down structuring Nd because of the people who are on them, aren't always welcoming.

This is different from Voat tho. Voat was explicitly made to be a "free speech zone" i.e. a "let's say nazi shit because nobody can censor us"-space. The fediverse's idea is simply not to be dependent on centralised platforms, it says nothing about the content. If it happens to be left leaning, it's because left leaning people tend to care more about stuff like right to privacy and centralisation.

That's exactly why we do drugs

We should start cutting off heads right now tbh

Pope John Paul II.

I was working catering in the Vatican for some conference, and they kind of forced me to go to the audience with the Pope. Sort of shook his hand, but he was already late into Parkinson's.

Same. It's not intrinsically bad, it was abused, but often useful

I could never wrap my head around the concept of "karma farming"

I watch my son walk to another kid with a ball and nonchalantly ask: "wanna play?", and I feel a tear swell up.

Same. If I could still use boost I would probably go back often, but the official all is so incredibly, profoundly user unfriendly that I just can't

All of a sudden? Yeah, if over a century of critique counts as "all of a sudden"

Kos, or some say Kosm

I've used Calibre for so long, it's just a great piece of software

God yes. I had a phone with a bright LED right next to the front camera and it was so convenient to know exactly what app was notifying me at any time

Oh no, they are not means. They are retribution.

God yes. Fuck shorts. That format should be banned from any platform

It's called "describing the reality of capitalist economy" not "being a communist"

And for 50 years instead of 5

Is this guy for real?

Good parenting

The OST of Disco Elysium is so perfect and so essential to make up the atmosphere of Revachol, I honestly cannot imagine the game without hearing it's soundscape.

Throw as much money as possible into the best institutes for cancer research in the world, until cancer is cured.

Then, for myself, commission the best architects and contractors to have an absolutely exact replica of the Spencer Mansion built for me.

I mean this without sarcasm at all: why exactly are you people nuking your accounts? I'm not planning to use Reddit much from now on, but I don't really see any reason why i should destroy an anonymous account over there ...

After many years, knowing all too well that it's the kind of game that would have driven me crazy, I started Factorio. I am indeed struggling not to have it swallow my life whole.

Lol, pretty much

Amen

Nevermind YouTube, get to that later. Start reading Plato's dialogues and Marcus Aurelius

Thank Christ for Jennifer Connelly

Better upgrade to SSD

Honestly, I agree with you.

Of course, if someone offered to come by my house and set this all up for free I wouldn't say no, but nowadays with a fast enough internet connection and the right tracker you're a few keystrokes and maybe 15 minutes away from any movie or TV series you might feel like watching.

The 15/20 minutes saved don't justify the massive work and maintenance to keep this all running.

No, it isn't. Victim blaming is a thing, but there needs to be some limits or the concept loses any significance.

"Dress modestly when you go out else you get raped" is victim blaming.

"Don't organise an international event in one the world's most dangerous and war-ridden regions of the globe, literally a handful of Kms from a fence, armed checkpoints, and automated machine gun turrets" is reasonable common sense.

I'm using Boost for both Reddit and Lemmy, and as a quick glance on my phone they look identical. To be honest if I was to open a random thread and look at the comments I wouldn't be able to tell where I am.

I'm not sure what you guys mean when you say that Lemmy feels different. If feels smaller but the same, in the good and bad.

RE1 HD remake (had played only about half of the GC one)

Such a wonderful game. For someone like me who grew up with the original, probably the best remake ever made. It's the same, but so much better.

Oh, and Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2. Possibly still the best RTS ever made. Change my mind.

This guy knows what he's taking about.

That Lethe album was the biggest surprise of last year, what an amazing debut

I went very far with it but gave up because I was feeling quite fatigued. I think I'm a bit after the underwater (?) Highway. It's a fine game but I don't have the patience for that kind of grind and repetition anymore

Sounds like something that might happen in Gotham

What's the evidence that they managed that because they were closed?

Keeping torrents alive and allowing free downloads aren't necessarily related

Because they're needlessly elitist and self-congratulating. The whole point of piracy is to spread stuff, not gatekeep it. Enforce quality control, vet those who can upload, put checks and limits, maybe even put rules against hit and runs, but do not close the access to downloading stuff to anyone.

I hate private trackers and I think they should be a thing of the past

So many words to say that you have a first-grade understanding of what an alternative to capitalism might look like
