Why is it called "OpenSubtitles" if you have to pay for it to use it in any capacity?

Now we gotta have websites developing for all web browsers instead of Google Chrome like it's Internet Explorer 2.0.

Why did they start calling it "Doom scrolling?"

It's Internet Explorer - Google edition.

There's like an ad every paragraph or two on sites like these. Then apparently that's not enough so they have auto-playing video ads and pop-up ads too. Do they seriously think people will tolerate this and not go off the website?

Why is Cloudflare so bad?

That's stupid to have. It was stupid when Twitter and YouTube did it, it was stupid when Roblox did it, it is still stupid here.

Wait, they're trying to check the status of your headphone? That's way too far. Why do they need to know if the headphone's plugged in?

I had a strange bug today where I wasn't able to upvote comments. So I cleared out my website data like the website suggested and I started having problems logging in. It would log in but then when I refreshed it wasn't logged in anymore. It stopped after a while but then when I clicked on an old tab when I refreshed I was logged out again. So, the log in issue must be something to do with how iOS Safari handles web cache on tabs.

Those bright LED interfaces are called "Abusive Appliance Interfaces" by Nathan over on the Toasty Tech website. It seems like there's more people that are being annoyed by the bright lights than I thought.

Apparently there was a trademark problem with WALLSTREETBETS at one point. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/reddit-sued-wallstreetbets-trademark-settlement-1235327626

But it seems like DuckDuckGo is blocking them, which implies the system that's tracking that is trying to upload that data onto a server, not just using it for pausing videos and stuff.

So it's a regular business now?

It seems like search results load much faster than ever before! What happened in the last few days to fix the search results taking several seconds to load?

Does this mean they'll mandate SD card slots and headphone ports too?

This has been going on for 16 years? I thought it was started in the mid or late 2010s.

What happened to Lemmy? In June people were saying it was all positive and better than Reddit...

Looks like it might be cool to have.

Does Meta entering the Fediverse mean that they'll federate with Lemmy instances or just Mastodon instances?

Companies taking loans out to have someone buy them doesn't make sense. Shouldn't that cost just be truncated out of the purchase?

The API changes were the trigger for the recent controversy and the fact that they may be forced to use the buggy official app instead of an unofficial but stable and well developed app pushed people too far. The API change is what caused the blackout and disgust for Reddit.

Wait, so the recent topics that occur suddenly on Twitter aren't the normal things people talk about? So the hype on Twitter events are fake?

Why are penguins being stranded on the beach like they're whales? That's disturbing to see.

I've created the communities on Lemmy.world already, can I add moderation permissions to another account on another instance or am I required to moderate Lemmy.world communities/forums on Lemmy.world?

Why does printer ink cost so much?

Why is this man getting years in prison for a copyright violation? People shouldn't be jailed for that, monetary fines is enough. There's no reason this man should be jailed for uploading gameplay videos online.

The "He Gets Us" ad must be the most derisive ad hosted on Reddit. Nothing but complaints about it.

How come so many people are already verified?

Why do people get emotionally attached to cars?

Can we configure the website to not automatically collapse deep replies? Or at least to collapse them only past six or seven layers deep?

I did create a lot of forums such as one for skunks, another for Skuntank, Worms, vultures, Disgaea, and so on.

Feels like I need to reboot my iPhone daily in order to keep applications and tabs from being terminated from out of memory issues as quickly.

What about the instances I created on Lemmy.world? Will I be able to moderate them from other instances?

I feel like when the Reddit API controversy happened I was more inclined to switch due to the blackout vs Twitter which didn't have nearly as instant of an event that would happen to get me off. Now all of a sudden because of Reddit I'm on various Fediverse projects such as Funkwhale, Mastodon, Kbin, and Lemmy.

It's at https://lemmy.world/c/skunks so feel free to visit.

What is Signal?

They shouldn't force you to use a specific web browser to use the website properly. Google Chrome shouldn't be the new Internet Explorer 6.

Sounds interesting. I stopped playing Neopets fully a few years back.
