Gay furry IT person.

Firefox not getting better in the last 15 years is quite disingenuous though.

This is as cryptic as saying "I will come to your house tonight and burn it down with everyone still in it."

I remember warning labels on BIOS updates that basically said that if nothing is broken, don't do the update because the risk of bricking the device did not outweigh any potential benefits. That vendors are now pushing mandatory BIOS updates through Windows Update is terrifying.

Ads have evolved into a cancer that is just growing and growing, making everything around them worse.

That 0.18mb accumulates quickly on the server's side if you have 10000 people trying to access that image at the same time. And there are millions it not billions of images on the net. Just because we have the resources doesn't mean we should squander them..that's how you end up with chat apps taking multiple gigabytes of RAM.

We tried to fight against having to install Crowstrike on our Linux servers but got overruled by upper management without discussion. I assume we are not the only ones with that experience in the world due to the need to check a checkbox for some flimsy audit.

If one does that, be prepared to defend yourself against the copyright infringement lawsuit that's coming your way eventually.

He's 100% a crisis actor.

We and our 692 partners (vendors) collect and process personal data (such as IP addresses or device identifiers) for the purpose of displaying personalized ads and measuring our advertising success.

No thanks.

I wonder which license they are going to use. Is it gonna be just an open source one or full-on FOSS?

Putin has started the war and can end it at any time he pleases by removing his forces from the occupied regions of Ukraine.

People can get into this weird fixation mode where when they made a decision then nothing can keep them from doing it except if it's physically impossible.

I was thinking the whole week if I should vote the greens or the pirates but due to the recurring campaigns to establish a surveillance state I did end up voting pirates. Incredibly disheartened they didn't get a seat :(

The problem is the first past the post system which heavily encourages a two-party outcome. A ranked choice system would drastically improve the chances of new candidates or parties to emerge with meaningful results.

But since that hurts the current holders of power, it's pretty unlikely to be enacted anytime soon.

This saddens me. The comments of the animes I watched usually had some interesting trivia or background information that I had missed.

The Trump presidency and the years since then have more than ever shown that the rules don't apply to everyone equally.

I really wish we'd have chosen a term that does not include "sex" because it leads to a distorted view such as yours that it must be sexual. It's in the name after all, right?
But heterosexuality has been promoted to kids for ages now! Children's shows include married couples for example (husband + wife) or the main character goes into a relationship with a character of the opposite gender. So why does the same thing suddenly become "grooming" and "inappropriate" when it's husband + husband or wife + wife?

Also, covering homosexuality in school does not equate to having "kids choose their sexuality". Not to mention that it's not a choice anyway.

In elementary school, our gym got infested by bees or wasps (don't remember exactly) and they were everywhere. We still were forced to do sports class in there. I got stung twice and then ran outside, bawling my eyes out. I'm now in my 30s and have a severe phobia of bees, wasps and hornets. Bumblebees are fine though for some reason.

I'd say that they've been mask-off for quite a while tbh.

If you're in Germany, a car is the best weapon to get away with murder since car drivers (especially the elderly) usually get only a slap on the wrist if they injure or even kill someone.

You're pulling an argument of another person into my argument and accuse me of hypocrisy based on that.
You are arguing in bad faith, have a nice day.

I fixed a bug in an open source project we use and got into trouble for it :|

Problem is that software cannot deal with unexpected situations like a human brain can. Computers do exactly what a programmer tells it to do, nothing more nothing less. So if a situation arises that the programmer hasn't written code for, then there will be a crash.

Walz seems to have pretty good merit, I think

If laws applied to Trump, he'd have been put into jail a long time ago. Alas, he is still a free man, free to commit crimes as he wishes.

There were grassroots movements like the Limux project (Munich using a custom Linux distribution). But that got shut down by Microsoft bribery (not confirmed, but MS did build a new headquarters in Munich...).

It's main branch these days (at least that's the new default for new repositories)

This person is a danger.

I agree that the code is probably poor but I doubt it was a conscious decision to crash the OS.

The code is probably just:

  1. Load config data
  2. Do something with data

And 2 fails unexpectedly because the data is garbage and wasn't checked if it's valid.

I use Pixels, it's very barebones but that's exactly what I wanted in a mood tracker!

I have a big library of music, mostly MP3 or OGG and don't really see myself pivoting solely towards streaming services where access to songs could be revoked at any time or could be changed/censored like movies or series sometimes are on streaming platforms. I do use YouTube for listening to new music and when I like it enough, I buy it to download (or acquire it in a different way if it's not available).

I started learning rust twice now but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it...so I'll stick with python for the time being.

Yes yes, I know. Skill issue.

Openstreetmap is really good...except for the detailed information about shops which is why I still use Google Maps if I need to know opening hours and other information.
OSM is just not widespread enough to be on the radar of shop owners to put their information on it themselves so volunteers have to do it. :/

I've seen that done for configuration management like Salt or Ansible. The repos for that were always hosted on internal Gitlab instances though.

Same thing that happened at Boeing.

I swallowed shampoo

The worst fate.

Unrelated but a colleague of mine actually thinks that McD burgers are made out of human children's meat lol

Not surprised. Republican voters won't care, Centrists will lay the blame on Biden and Democratic voters who don't see the full story get discouraged to vote for him.

Play on Linux has been succeeded by Lutris or Bottles. I've tried both and personally I have fewer issues with Lutris but Bottles UI is a lot more intuitive. So I'd suggest trying Bottles first and if you run into issues use Lutris.
