Thankfully, bazzite is both, the community has gotten rather large lately so support has been good.

Definitely agree with that, I very much so still downvote bigoted comments and posts though I think I’ve only encountered two comments like that so far. Lemmy mods and admins are doing a great job.

You kinda left out the next line in which he says

But it was my responsibility

That’s the whole statement and tbh I agree. It’s never anyone’s fault for being a bad person, but it is 100% their responsibility to right their wrongs.

Tbh this segregation is also stupid as well, it’s completely possible to make non-gendered bathrooms that are safe spaces. High traffic areas with to the floor stalls that are basically rooms are the best option. Low traffic areas are the issue however. But segregation is overall pretty ridiculous even for bathrooms, and implies a failure of our culture to minimize predators.

It is kind of strange, but hey progress is progress. People are probably just happy to get anything at this point.

I think there’s a pretty big thing here that people are kinda missing and it’s the ease of app creation. Recently gnome has done a lot for app developers to make the experience really good. Workbench, gnome builder, biblioteca all combined with the ease of libadwaita and the gnome circle make app development significantly easier for gtk than qt. There’s a big community now with a lot of inertia. I think workbench has around 100 tutorials now or so. Super low barrier to entry. Also libadwaita is pretty.

I already use gnome now, but even before I had settled on a DE, I took a look at both ecosystems and was heavily leaning towards gtk because of all these factors and against qt because of its reliance on c++. Until all of those factors are replicated well for qt (and by extension kde), I don’t think they’ll see the same level of development.

For those who actually want to read the full article: https://archive.is/JTkGm

I really hope you guys succeed, I plan to make a small donation when I have extra to give.

Harry Potter, the movies are at least wizards do wizard stuff even if the world is pretty boring to me. The books on the other hand, are just straight up strange and mean. Reading them as kid they just sucked, I have no clue why they are so popular outside of the movies.

If you like the older windows ui, Linux mint. You don’t need to look any further than that. If you want something fresh and cool, use regular fedora with gnome, if you want a more mac like or windows 11 experience use fedora kde. That’s all you need to know.

What in the actual fuck is this story? There’s so much messed up stuff like what the hell

Try? What you posted is not an example of toxicity. You just came here to be mean and rude and not discuss someone actually giving up their time to do something that benefits everyone. I’ll never understand why people go out of their way to be mean when there is good news.

Assuming I’m not mistaken about how cartilage feels to eat, I’d say neither but closer to cartilage. It’s really chewy and hard to sink your teeth into to. Honestly it’s kinda like eating gum but with a meat taste. The smell is not great though and often overpowers a lot of food without lots of preparation. Honestly kinda hate tripe overall.

Yay the comments were deleted. They were being very toxic

They are working on screen reader support, there was a blog post about that 2-5 days ago I think.

Codeberg is Forgejo instance. Which is a fork of Gitea lol.

The number is actually 245 since the total population is 275. They wrote it in the article.

Nah, it’s pretty weird that you enjoy being mean on public forums. If you want to criticize then do so, don’t be an ass about it.

I think you’re misunderstanding what the claim here is. The payments are not necessary for Flathub and flatpak (though they take a cut), it’s revenue for developers. Revenue they would have never seen if their app is packaged in distro repos like normal. Implementing payment systems in the native package format is basically impossible which is why no one ever did it. Flathub is giving app developers (whose job is oftentimes thankless) a chance to receive easier funding or even a livelihood. All around a good thing.

That’s interesting, I assume you use a business use case and not a personal one? I’ve been using Nextcloud for my family and friends on an at home server and it’s been a great experience. Maybe they need to work on their scalability.

I think a lot of the arguing people are doing here is about the usefulness of opt-in vs opt-out. And personally I tend to agree with the side of the opt-out group; telemetry that users opt-in to is just less useful overall for figuring the average needs of your users. Opt-in is way too self-selecting and shows you very little about what actually needs to be worked on for everyone. However, if the telemetry is not privacy-respecting then opt-out is not a good thing at all. But I think I trust the endless OS system that fedora is trying to use.

Memmy is an iOS only app though. It would like pretty out of place on android as it is right now imo. And personally I find the design to be a little more clean than Mlem right now.

Hi from lemmy.ml. The fediverse is so awesome!

If you use sites like this and you have epubs and pdfs to contribute, make sure that you do! I recently uploaded a book I had access to from my school days for others to use through libgen. I had to search really hard to find it when I didn’t have a lot of money for textbooks. I hope what I uploaded helps others. Be sure to contribute!

Because people value narratives and stories. Those experiences make them feel all sorts of emotions during the gameplay. You’re not saving anyone time or money because they didn’t get those emotions or the experience. I play games for all of that, if you can’t provide step aside.

My downvotes are to the right 😩, I guess this means I gotta upvote

Why are people so toxic? This is a KDE post, at least celebrate the work being done instead of bashing people for no reason

I actually did lol, that was supposed to be my main but since they defederated from lemmy.world I’ve been using this account more. I may switch back once they refederate but for now this is my main.

I’m not sure if there is a way on the web interfaces, but many of the mobile apps being developed incorporate filter lists for keywords. I remember I used Mlem’s filters during the beans trend since I wasn’t interested in those posts.

It’s not a really a mentality per se, it’s just a lot less mental effort to downvote and move on. Especially when you consider all the downvote bots and the fact that downvotes were not public. Downvoting in general was really devalued and people used it to just remove content from their face as opposed to engaging with it. Lemmy feels different in that regard.

Honestly, it’s not even about JK Rowling, the actual Harry Potter series has very poor values in general, and the world is quite poorly written. Not something I’d want to promote to other people or children regardless of Rowling’s nonsense. The books turned me off very much as a kid though the movies are much more palatable. It’s just a really mean series.

I run bazzite on my steam deck and gaming pc. It’s honestly just silverblue with gaming specific options, so it’s extremely solid. Coupled with the ability to have the steam deck game mode it beats out all the competition in my eyes. Specifically I would take it over nobara having used both as nobara had some very serious stability issues over time as well as just general package drift. Bazzite has none of that.

There’s a lot of moments where the characters will laugh at or make fun of someone for something to a degree I would never do irl, or the slave bit with hermione. The characters also just don’t evolve at all. Reading Harry Potter just gave me a fish out of water feeling, there were better magic books with characters that actually grew and changed.

Huh? That is not how Wayland does it at all.

I haven’t so far, but I did the 1tb ssd upgrade so I haven’t had to use microsd very much. From my experience it works the same as steamos if you had done the btrfs file system change.

The 3.9GB is not just libreoffice, that number also includes runtimes. At most you would only install maybe around half of your host systems’s packages in runtimes for all the apps you use. There shouldn’t be any more usage than that. And even less if you stick to apps that fit your DE. Like if I just stuck to apps that used the gnome runtimes, I would have a pretty minimal installation.

Unfortunately, the dependency problem is really hard to solve, and at least they deduplicate what they can. Everything else works perfectly as well besides some minor issues with the sandbox connecting to the host system in certain edge cases.

Also please don’t link flatkill, it’s woefully outdated and every point on there has been addressed for years; it should be taken down.

As others have said flatpak is not just the future, it is the present of Linux. Many mainline distros have fully adopted it and many smaller community distros, especially immutable ones like blendos and vanillaos, are all in on flatpak completely abandoning native packages for containers and flatpaks. I’d say for the average non-technical user, using Flathub through gnome software or discover is as good or better than the mac AppStore. The future of apps on Linux is very bright imo. Flatpaks have already brought in way more developers than before.

Don’t put this look on gnome apps lol, they look way better than this.

Some YouTubers will go and adopt a child and then vlog about their lives with said kid for views. It’s sad.
