As much as I’d like to agree, those projects have very different goals and constraints.

It isn't really pro life, it is anti-choice.

A single individual? Sure, but that is a bad comparison. World wide food production is responsible for over a third of all carbon emissions. That isn't inconsequential.

Looks like a perfect space for every lazy person to push their shopping cart into.

Except the impact of climate change isn’t at all like a car crash. In a car crash everything stays fine until it suddenly goes to shit. Which I think is one of the issues why people have such a hard time dealing with it.

Maybe we should think about it more like a sinking ship. We already got wet feet, which isn’t great but only the start and we really need to start shutting some bulk heads to keep the water from pouring in. And get some Wellies to deal with the water already in. But those won’t help if it keeps on rising.

Eyes off the road for 5secs

Nice rant, but if you do this, you really shouldn't be driving.

Interesting purely mechanical design. Our first remote (that didn't have a cable connection) used sound as well, but it was battery powered and as a kid, I could hear at least some of those sounds. It had way more than just 4 buttons though, maybe the mechanical design hits a limit there at some point (or electronics just got cheaper).

I get that, but the vast majority of content creators seem to make their money with sponsorships or their own ads, so most of what google is doing is content distribution, not creation. Which makes the amount of money they want for that seem ridiculous when pretty much every other streaming service that produces high profile and expensive shows themselves is way cheaper.

This feels like your supermarket requiring entrance fees in addition to you having to pay for stuff you actually buy.

I’d guess even if some other man made satellite is perfectly in line, those wouldn’t have even close to the necessary transmission power to reach voyager.

And funnily, the shorts player on mobile has some of those features.

How so, I'm curious? Do you drive into no mans land hundreds of miles away from civilization or are you a robot that never needs to take a break?

At least it doesn't look like chocolate stuff, always great to get those turning white because they baked in mid summer heat.

How can you even mention factory games without pointing out Factorio.

I don't know how remote your mountains are, here there would likely be a charge point less than 50km away but I don't know where you drive. I give you that.

Your second point though, you might want to reconsider your driving habits. Random google result for breaks when driving: "If driving long distances, you should stop for at least 15 minutes every two hours. Stop often to rest for at least 45 minutes every 4.5 hours of driving to avoid getting tired and stay alert. Plan to stop for a break every 100 miles on your long road trip so that you can relax. Try to only drive for 9 hours a day."

Local? Probably before the paint was even dry. Other people will probably still be scratching their heads when they plow full speed into a wall because from my experience slowing down when in doubt seems to drop in priority lower every year.

you won’t realize how bad it is until you’re already dead

Not sure you'll be realizing it even then.

I'll see myself out

My PC is above minimum specs and BG3 ran really poorly even on low. Maybe they got a similar issue with the s.

You don't need power storage for months, if you combine different renewable sources and have power lines connecting different areas. Wind and solar complement each other usually.

You need to be able to bridge a few weeks though, because there will be gaps, but you don't need to store solar power for half a year to make it. It is still a big issue, but no need to exaggerate.

And it had completely different innards and battery capacities. Just grabbing that old battery and putting it in a new phone would seriously limit the runtime on a single charge. Which is kinda the point, I really hope we don't trade replaceable batteries for the need to recharge twice a day or switch batteries to even make it the whole day. Or have a noticeable bulkier phone that won't fit as comfortably in my pocket. Or that it may not survive the rain shower I got surprised by because they skimped on the water proofing.

How steep of a downhill and how fast are you going? Gravity will pull depending on the angle of the hill, wind resistance increases with the square of your speed. There will always be a speed where the force pulling you down/forwards will be the same as the force slowing you down due to wind resistance. If you go slower, your car will speed up towards that speed, if you are already faster, it will naturally slow down with no input from the engine or your brakes.

Every phone is a compromise, size, weight, how much space you use for battery, how much for ports, how much for easy accessibility. As I understand it, I won’t be able to get one that sacrifices easy accessibility for the other stuff. I just hope the compromises won’t be too bad.

You know you can get the battery replaced, right? Not as cheap as buying a replacement yourself, but not that much compared to a 1000$ phone.

Fantastic Contraption. Pretty much dead now in a browser due to being based on flash but apparently they developed a version available on steam.

I thought this was the exact reason why they bundle multiple streams with almost all subscriptions. To provide multiple people in a household the option to stream their own stuff. Did you have only one single stream?

Long term, yes

Short term probably not, as it fluctuates year to year

I absolutely loved that game.

But what about the interweb/Interweb? And why is the symbol a blue e with some lines through it if it starts with an i/I?

/s

Eggs, milk, butter aren’t visually obvious.

Especially since so many products contain stuff like milk powder etc., which is insanely cheap due to being almost a waste product of the animal industry.

If you are sitting in the restaurant, you are probably paying for some ridiculously overprized drinks as well.

Maybe compare it to ordering the same stuff but picking it up yourself.

apples done those things and we said the same thing about those moves. And now look at em.

True, however a lot of people really don't care about that stuff which somehow often gets overlooked here and on reddit.

blind loyalty

Maybe for some people. There is however a strong momentum to just keep using what you are used to, and Apple has done a great job in that regard. Stuff just works and it keeps working mostly the same and even switching to a new device is almost effortless. Plus their design guidelines for apps is providing a pretty consistent user experience, zero tinkering required. Which is what a lot of people like.

And I think any one who eats meat on a regular basis is going to know an impossible burger is not beef

Tbh. I don't get using burgers as an example. Burgers as I know them contain so much other stuff (salad, tomato, cucumber, cheese, sauce etc.) that I barely notice what kind of patty is in there. I do notice a difference on stuff that is unprocessed meat without much to hide the differences (best example would probably be that steak) but for anything that uses ground meat and/or adds other stuff (like in a stew) that just diminishes/hides any differences.

I'm with you on the other stuff though, trying to imitate something perfectly often lands you in the uncanny valley where its close enough to be identifiable what it is supposed to be, but just slightly off to be distracting. Like that one recipe you remember from your parents or grand parents that you always loved as a kid but no one can get exactly like you remember it.

AC doesn't just help with temperature though, it also helps with humidity if it is a humid heat outside. Makes it much more bearable even if the temperature difference might not be huge.

I really wonder how common that is. I how do you use your phone to get battery issues that quickly. Or what type of phone has those issues. To me this seems like a rare occurrence, an exception not the norm.

I tried to play Baldurs Gate 3 but for some reason, it runs really poorly on my system so I refunded it. On the plus side, a friend of mine has caught up in Diablo 4 so we played some multiplayer which was great fun.

And I played some Timberborn, which seems fun at least for a while. Probably not a long term game for me though.

I don’t know the current state, my Galaxy S4 mini was shipped with android 4.3 and it never even got 5 from Samsung. Custom rims delivered but 6 wasn’t available at all (plus the hardware struggled at that point).

Yes. Even the legally allowed methods aren't exactly great and lack of supervision regularly leads to much worse conditions than even that.

This doesn't look appetizing at all, however the amount doesn't seem that unrealistic for old people.

But there are essentially unlimited amounts of resources out there and patches grow the further you get away from the starting location. Just go in any direction and you'll stumble upon resources patches in the double or triple digit millions quite quickly.

If you struggle with the biters, you can turn those down a notch or two (or turn them peaceful or non existent even).

Anno 1800 is amazing if you don't like the survival aspect of the other games.
