I truly detest the "review bombing" culture, but in the same breath - Blizzard has really screwed up on OW2.

OW was honestly one of my two most played games of all time - and I loved it. The loot boxes were annoying, but hey...if I wanted to, or chose to - I could buy more and got a decent chance of getting what I wanted. The issue was that I had nearly everything by the end, and rarely bought loot boxes. The content wasn't there to keep people buying cosmetics.

The new shop/token/battle pass stuff is really really toxic to gaming. I will admit that I have bought a few battle passes. When the content is there, I will pay. I would totally buy skins if they were in the vein of $5-7usd, and were for a hero I liked... but there is no way in the world that they are getting me to pay 20-25 on a skin. Its honestly so disgusting.

I really was unaffected by the single player stuff, because I only enjoy multiplayer games - but the way it was done showed disregard for the loyal players so it makes me lose trust in the company. I am honestly just sad about what happened to the OW universe. The only way for people to voice that feeling/emotion is to vent and move on. I guess the reviews serve as a good warning to potential new players.

I know this does not make me look good - but I am a YouTube Premium subscriber. I had Spotify, but they jacked up their family plan rate, and it was only a few bucks cheaper than Premium, then I got the ad-free (without adblockers). I mostly did it to help my kids avoid the toxic ads that are littered into the kid content. The main reason I stick with some of this stuff is for the discovery. Pandora was great, Spotify is ok.

Regardless - the smart playlists, and AI stuff on YouTube music is AWFUL. I cannot put into words how bad it is. Spotify got it right about 1/4-1/2 of the time. YouTube, maybe 1/100. Constantly recommending a country, which I cannot stand. When it isn't doing country, it recommends hard rock/metal which I also do not listen to. I feel like I need a new way to find music, then I could sever ties with all these trashy subscriptions.

Worked in retail many moons ago. Back when organic was just becoming a thing. I can tell you one thing.: A lot of people were getting a deal on organic food -because cashiers would just key in the code for non-organic. The lines were too long, and you look foolish looking things up in the "book" haha.

Along the same lines, but not to this level:

A few years back, we had a family member who is at a very extreme end of the political spectrum give my kids a book set that they "saw in a facebook ad" that said it was all about wholesome family values. It was called the "Tuttle Twins."

Not knowing what it was, we started reading them with our kids. The first book we read was fantastic(we read out of order). It talked about pencils, and followed the entire supply chain. Very informational, entertaining, and educational. It wasn't until the 2nd book, and on that the agenda crept in. Funny how when they talked about crime, all of the cartoons of criminals were diverse. When they talked about landscapers and gardeners, they were all depicted as hispanic. It kept getting worse and worse. Talking about education being corrupt, about how much immigration impacted people, and tried to justify a lot of things. We stopped reading early on, but I browsed them all to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Then I googled them, and I realized how bad the propaganda was.

I gotta be honest...I am hanging on by a threat. The communities that I was engaged with on Reddit before the Snoopacolypse were pretty niche. I wasn't there for r/funny or r/videos, etc. I found similar communities on Lemmy, but they have soooooo little activity. I have to modify my sort just to see content, as its so old. When there are posts, they typically get very little discussion.

I am on Lem.ee, and I have the hardest time posting anything from mobile. It looks like it fails, and if I sort by new, it isn't there and never shows up - HOWEVER, I start getting replies, so someone is seeing it somehow.

I detest what reddit did and is still doing - but Lemmy is not filling that void for me, and its frustrating.

We (Payday 2 Players) also racked up hours upon hours (I think I am around 1000 total) and they didn't really give us anything for all that work. We got a underwhelming skin. A bare bones weapon, and some weapon charms ...do they realize how hard it was to beat every heist on Deathwish without a hacker in the lobby? A Charm? For Real? Give me my deathwish mask back and I will play your new game

Would have been nice if they decided to give that option during the early days when they made the decision to start mining data and selling it off. I totally would have been up for a reasonable fee to keep my data felt bad for Julian from being sold.

I have started buying vinyl with the digital downloads when I find a great album. I feel better doing it this way. Most of my music is not super big name artists.

Looks sharp, I learned a little too late to do the "Military Tuck" when the sides got a bit bunched up. It can really help clean up the look with non tailored shirts.

I live in a blue state, MN. Our Governor accomplished a ton of great things in his previous term. He was reelected last fall. During that campaign, we had our state fair. His conservative challenger was running on the campaign "Walz Failed" and literally had a plane with that flying behind it on a banner all day, each day of the fair. They had people right inside each gate handing out bags that said it. Felt very ridiculous.

Great summary on this Episode of Darker Diaries from last week

And then Linux will finally get the attention it has always deserved.

Oh yeah...and voice chat. How you make a game that requires players to communicate without a voice chat option is beyond me. The pings are not enough.

That's the thought that crossed my mind. As far as pay, it is being a good stable career option - the very physical trades tend to encounter a lot more injuries and physical consequences. I respect the heck out of the trades and I work with a lot of them on different things for work - but if you look at some of the older/close to retirement folks - physical ailments and shorter life expectancy is a real concern.

Think of the "silent generation" and "baby boomers" you know that are getting up there in years. Everyone I have known that reached their 90s had fairly "cushy" desk jobs. The ones I knew who did skilled labor and trades work lived to their late 70s/early 80s.

I think, at least in the US, that we are going to REALLY feel the decrease in trades like plumbers, electricians, etc. You can teach some trades much quicker when there is a need - but with licensing and such - its going to take time to turn that ship back on course.

It would be great if Lemmy's devs implemented loosely based (for fair use) copies of these and gave them for free :)

Not sure what that means. I never get any messages from TMO unless it's a bill notification...

You could always go in to the Apple store and buy the current gen...they will have plenty of those :)

Spoken like a true Darknet Diaries listener :)

I read the article. It is still unclear to me if the king of this e-waste, the Acer c720 will get any new updates. They started making it in 2013....but it was made for a while. There are soooo many of these things that cannot really run chrome anymore because of one reason or another.

I was just thinking that I love it so much I want it on a shirt

I never tried that but this removes a step and makes it super easy for me. I've tried the websites where you enter the address and get a mirror of the article, but it always seemed clunky.

I have used many over the years. Lots of great ones, but it came down to taste for me. A few faves were Niagara, Nova, Lawnchair and the stock Pixel launcher. But for the last few months, I have gone back to Square Home. I was a huge Windows Phone enthusiast, so I just really wanted to go back to that vibe. It took a decent amount of time to get it set up and exactly how I wanted. Worth a try if you want something different.

I don't believe they do... But that's not a setting I have looked for. I like the stock pixel notification and quick settings pull down menus.

Bad luck man. I would have bought a rift if Facebook didn't ruin it.

I think back to when I started listeneing to "alternative" music, and Shine, by Collective Soul is always what plays in my head.

I think you may have misunderstood. I have FOUND communities, but there is not much engagement or activity. I have resorted to discord channels for most of them, but it is not the same.

Some of my most active subreddits were different 3d printing and 3d modeling groups, groups for games like Overwatch, and Payday. Different AI focused groups, but specifically groups like the Stable Diffusion sub, Subreddits that discuss my favorite shows, or styles of music. None of that is active here. It isn't that they don't exist on Lemmy, they are just ghost towns. I joined multiple instances and am very active and engaged on multiple accounts, on some of these groups - but there is not response. I was in the top 3% of karma earners on Reddit - and I did that by submitting and commenting a lot. That just doesn't happen here (yet).

What is rym?

That surprises me, but I suppose it had to work for some listeners or they wouldn't have gotten it past testing. I have even tried clearing my listen history and starting over - still comes up with country and (going to clarify) 'metal' . I like rock and alternative and some forms of pop, as well as a bit of hip hop. cannot fathom why it suggests what it does.

Great song and great band! I was super into Mike Doughty's first solo album after Soul Coughing, and it was great music - but the following albums lost whatever it was that connected me to his music.

I have tried to jumpstart a few communities by posting and commenting regularly . I would try a new one, but if people do not find or join, it will get caught in the same cycle as the existing groups. I like participating, but am not interested in being the single driving force, or moderating.

To answer your other question, I cannot stand when I see auto mirrored content from Reddit. I usually ignore those posts, as I have rarely seen comments happening. When the content wasn't created by somebody here, I don't think anybody is invested in maintaining or participating in the discussion.

Every time. I am not sure it actually changes anything. I have submitted feedback and bug reports to YTM as well. Just generic replies.

Not the best example. Payday 2 happens to be my most played game of all time. They did get review bombed when they added stat improvements on unlockables, and that was reversed, but they also got review bombed when they started microtransactions after very clearly saying they would never do so (drills/safes). That was never reversed, and only got worse with time. The fact that it is PvE co-op only, makes "pay 2 win" way less important, and I could still "win" very easily without any of those minor stat increases. The original vision was that players just pay for new heists, and anyone could play any heist - just not host unless they owned the content.

That is an absurd number of apps...

I can't wait to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation

I am not sure. I think as long as your waistband has enough tension to hold the fold in place it should work. Otherwise you may need a belt. Congrats on the wedding.

I love that cover by Cake. I listened to Goldfinger for a while and had never heard that 99 Red Balloons cover. Thanks for sharing:)

Amen.

I ended up searching it and saw it on three or four different t-shirt sites already.

The genre's are very similar, but the song Knowledge, by Operation Ivy was covered by Green Day on their debut album - I always enjoyed that version.

Also, another favorite was when The Presidents of the United States of America covered Video Killed the Radio Star original by The Buggles.
