For that to be true, it would have needed to be worth $44B in the first place, which it absolutely was not. But there is no doubt that his mismanagement has tanked the value of the investment. He's a narcissist so never see it that way, but the whole rest of the world knows that.

Having ublock on mobile is such a breath of fresh air. I wish I had made the transition sooner. I knew this was coming and completed my transition a few weeks back so I could abandon Chrome on my own time table and not on Google's. Other than a little headache trying to find extension replacements for pc, I'm LOVING it.

Former trans friend, or trans former friend?

I'm sure Tennessee law makers will be sure to rectify this soon - they'll go ahead and loosen child labor laws more and more so their benefactors remain happy.

He got banned after posting, iirc.

At this point it has to be "suicide by election" right? Why put yourself in the line of fire?

She's not - Yvonne is accounting and business, I've never heard of her as being remotely involved with the HR department.

The judge agreed to TWO WEEKS in reporting I saw this morning. Now it's two months. SOMEBODY PLEASE hold this motherfucker accountable for his actions. Just once in his whole life.

Maybe use some critical thinking before acting smug, smart guy. 41% of instances is not 41% of users. Lemmy.world could have 90% of users, and if this 1 instance out of 1000 haven't blocked threads, the 41% of instances blocking might only host 4% of users.

RFK can appear very appealing if you don't look hard enough. Sit him down to watch the John Oliver segment and see what he thinks then. If he's a rational person, he might see the error of his ways.

It makes me feel icky to type it out... The terms "tranny" and "transvestite" were very common nomenclature in the 90s. In conversation, movies, television. Trans people were often a punchline. And absolutely existed.

There's also 32 million metric tons in Niland, California that can be harvested with green energy. I assume the same could be done with this deposit. Could be very good for domestic battery production and cost.

I highly recommend this Veritasium video from last year about this subject.

I think generally you also need to butcher an animal fresh. Within hours. At least, I believe this to be the case with teak tartare for instance. Edit: steak*

Background play of exclusive podcasts for one thing. I suppose that might be possible in a browser but playing media from a media player app instead of a browser is certainly going to be a better experience.

I got one of these for the bedroom because I was sick of using a stuffed animal to prop the door open for the cats.

Oh yeah also all arcade games with prizes are rigged. All of them. We literally have a setting that determines how often the game will allow wins.

One time on vacation, my little sister and I found a crane game in the game room of our hotel that was clearly over tuned - basically every button press was another win, it was great. We still remember it fondly. A stupid thing, but even at that age we knew these are usually scams and we we're stoked to just basically get cheap toys.

Strange that I am in active boycott of two restaurants, and it happens to be both of these places. Not for anything high minded - they both discontinued their chorizo offerings, the only thing I liked on either of their menus. Happened 7 or 8 years ago now, and I won't go back.

After trying to have his last Veep hung, I'm not really sure why anybody would think it would go any different for them. I guess he found another thoroughbred narcissist to join him this time. "It couldn't possibly happen to me."

We're the generation that used forums all over the internet, Digg, and then reddit before it was cool. Now that reddit is going nuclear, we're all looking for our new home because we yearn for the internet we all grew up with as it slowly erodes away thanks to millionaires/billionaires ruining all that is good to make a buck.

I feel like people are acting a little TOO hurt in this thread... debate on games being moddable vs not aside, this was obviously always going to be the case for a live service game like D4. D3 was (but wasn't really) a live service game and also was not moddable at all, even after the auction house got canned. Same for Overwatch 1, I'm quite sure OW2 as well. There should be no surprise here, and cheaters absolutely knew this would come.

You run with an interesting crowd.

“I know I will respect the limits of the presidential powers I’ve had for three-and-a-half years, but any president – including Donald Trump – will now be free to ignore the law,” Biden said.

You're absolutely right, ~80% of Mozilla's revenue is from Google's paying to be the default search engine in Firefox - and the US is going after Google for it's anticompetitive behaviors as we speak. Ad blocking aside, Mozilla is going to need help pretty soon anyways if Google gets their monopoly broken up.

Enjoy your crypto scam browser, bro.

Bioware didn't make Starfield - that was Bethesda. Maybe you were thinking of Anthem? And fair point there.

She should resign, as one of the few level headed justices on SCOTUS? What kind of logic is that? You know she's not a conservative justice, right? Like... I can't think of any other reason you'd think this is a good idea, and during an election year no less. I see way less trolling on Lemmy than I did on reddit, but I'd like to believe this is trolling and not the actual opinion of a legitimate American voter.

She should keep fighting the good fight while we hope for a couple of justices to die or be impeached soon so we can fix the balance of SCOTUS.

You're seeing a little taste of this now at the southern border - the left happily jumped on board with the right's plan to fortify, then suddenly it was "wait, no, not this way..." and they killed their own bill.

Well to work with heavy machinery, you have to be 18. You've clearly never met a 14 year old, but 4 years and puberty at that age make a BIG difference. These children were very obviously, well, children.

This is why we've never seen or heard aliens out in the universe. Every civilization burns itself out faster than they can solve long distance space travel. Maybe the Great Filter is just the inherent nature of sentient beings. It would make me feel better to know that every other civilization to ever exist in the universe also destroyed itself in this manner, but maybe we are a special level of stupid.

These companies should be paying fines in the BILLIONS of dollars for their malfeasance. I got a notice from work this morning, this is horrifying.

Edit: Marquez just put out his video and it DOES NOT have an easily swappable battery. Huge missed opportunity. But it's a $200 phone so at least for longevity... well, the phone hardware will probably age more poorly than the battery, so nobody is likely to keep this thing for long enough that battery degradation is a significant concern. It would have been nice to have the convenience of having an easy swap or extended battery though. What appeared to be an extended battery in images was a wallet.

I love that this appears to have the option of installing an extended battery. I had one on my HTC Incredible, and got one for my wife too when she got her HTC Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt had CRAP battery life because of the drain from the new 3g 4g radio, and the Inc was so small... I probably wasn't helping the battery situation with my custom ROMs. But we didn't mind a bit of extra bulk in order to achieve a full day+ of heavy use, and had a spare battery we could bring with us if needed, too.

And then the sleek, gorgeous HTC One m7 came out and after only one generation, sealed in batteries were the norm for every other phone I've ever owned. Now, the battery life wasn't so bad - and so I didn't mind, but all these years later I wish it were at least an option on the market.

Of all the names on the list, Leazel is absolutely killing me. Everytime I think it I'm laughing again. A little disappointed but you're probably right - it's meant to be Lae'zel.

And the real concern is that with a headline like this one, it isn't always immediately clear which one is the subject.

Thanks for the context - that's fascinating.

While playing Final Fantasy X the first time, I got to Old Zanarkand and inside the dome, I saved behind a sealed door in the Cloister of Trials. I wasn't savvy to good saving practices and after solving the puzzle, got into a battle I was completely hopeless to defeat. There was no way to walk back out the door from which I entered, the only way out was through; and with my existing inventory, spells, charged up aeons, etc. I absolutely could not defeat the boss.

It was pretty crushing because this moment is so close to the end of the game, but I gave up and had to come back months (years?) later to fully start the game over. I think maybe I played 99+ hours of Final Fantasy VII and then decided to give X another try. The second time, I was much smarter with maintaining multiple save games for safety. Not to be bested again, I grinded up all of my limit breaks and aeons for safety and completely obliterated the boss in one go the next time around.

They also know precisely how much we owe in taxes, but instead of telling us and we pay it, they allowed a multi billion dollar industry to pop up around it and dictate tax law.
