What is it with tech companies being too shitty lately?

Thanks for the transparency.

I can imagine they attempted to save face after all the 3rd party app mess, of course it's an ill-advised decision and backfired on them as it should.

I've made a mistake by trying to restore a old Facebook account that I wanted to "delete", I even attempted it on two occasions, of course they demand an ID picture but their website is horrible with the phone camera so the pics always came out blurry so they always refused them.

Never again.

I wouldn't mind if they started a subscription model that makes them enough to keep the thing running and be completely independent from Google.

Couldn't you copy them into a reply, then delete the bits you don't want to keep? I'm possibly misunderstanding though.

That's one way of doing it.

Pro-tip on Android at least - if you open your Recents, you can manually select text that was on your screen even if it wasn't selectable at full screen.

Is that an option on OneUi as well? I haven't been able to figure it out.

Ikr? I was under the impression that Mayayo wasn't interested but he probably saw the potential even more so when other former reddit 3rd party apps are switching, potentially bringing a lot of users.

I hope that other governments follow suit.

Yeah that makes sense, I think it comes down to the fact that you might slowly lose lots of details from those memories.

Okay Mr Bean

I've wasted too much of my time already, its probably not worth it given I haven't made any problematic posts ln there.

Hmm.. You got me curious, context?

Societal pressure to "settle down" as young as possible. Due to the economy of course that has become a very unrealistic expectation.

Is this edible?

Definetly, I remember mayayo (Boost's dev) commenting that the update he pushed out recently was the last dance or something.

We shall soon witness the outbreak of The First Beans War.

I would start by checking if there's a relevant community to the thing I need help with, for instance there are already Samsung and Android communities, I guess there's one for Apple too, I would assume that for now you can make tech support posts in any of them.

If the thing you need help with is doesn't yet have a relevant community then posting in tech support communities like the one the other commenter linked might be your best bet.

I've just started using 1Password is there anyway I can copy my passwords from Firefox and Samsung Pass to it automatically?

Thank you, luckily I seem to have my passwords mostly in Firefox.

It seems like history does indeed repeat itself.

I once had a keyboard app that also copied OTPs automatically, could've been GBoard, it doesn't seem like a universal feature since SwiftKey doesn't have it in my case.

Edit: I misunderstood your comment, most apps that I use that send out codes do log them in automatically if they're open, so I have to manually copy a code only if I'm on a website.

I think they will very useful if and when the user base of the bigger instances become big enough, I don't know how fast we will get there though.

Biggest issue is probably the lackluster software support, you only get like two years of android updates?

I tried a Flip 4 but it had way too many compromises for my taste relative to a regular samsung phone in the same price range, I was also concerned about it's durability as I tend to keep my phones for about 3 years.

Nosleep when?

Whats bothering me the most about it is that Reddit is still a valuable source of information for so many things, can't get around a boss fight in a certain older videogame? Yep, there are about 10 threads about it on reddit from years ago.

The amount information on there is big enough that often times many of the top useful search results are in reddit, I hope Lemmy can fill the gap, at least partially but I'm aware that it could years and that's only if the fediverse picks up well enough.
