Look, anyone with a working brain should be worried about the prospect, because if he wins, then that means we're in for the worst four years (and probably much longer than four years) of our lives here in the United States. I don't think we come back from that.

Bro you're doing more than most of us, thank you.

But yeah, our carbon footprint is minuscule in comparison to corporate footprints. We need them to fucking play ball.

What's more profitable: Exceptional profits for 30 years until civilization collapses, or sustainable profits forever?

I just joined Lemmy today after uninstalling Reddit Is Fun. It was absolutely surreal just how much habit was in pulling out my phone and pressing the space where RIF used to be. Decided I'm kind of mostly done with Reddit other than quick information look ups on the website.

So here I am! First post! The only constant in life is change. Hello everyone, I hope we all get along! :)

I am a documentation writer at my day job. I spend an obscene amount of time writing and rewriting support materials for our software to make sure the instructions are as clean as possible. The end users of the software are busy doctors and nurses so I get why they dont have time to read and just want quick answers from our support team. I get that.

What I dont forgive is how many times the support team will complain to me that a scenario or a feature isnt in the documentation, despite me bolding, bullet listing, and highlighting THE EXACT THING THEY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I usually relink it to them and screenshot the relevant section.

People. Do. Not. Read.

If someone's gonna cut out a person out of their lives because of the choice of their phone, you're better off without that person in your life.

Sure, but one person's shovelware is another person's cherished childhood. We should preserve what's been created as much as reasonably possible, simply for the record.

I'm only hopping on reddit momentarily if I'm looking for specific information. For my casual browsing, I've largely transitioned over to here, and I'm enjoying myself immensely.

I'm not surprised it's a huge drop, but there's a vindictive part of me that wants the bleeding to continue.

I was never a hardcore Reddit user, just a casual scroller, and I have to say, with the Connect android app and after subscribing to a few communities, my experience has largely been the same. It'll be better when/if more people migrate over I feel like, but in terms of the actual experience, it's already slightly improved from Reddit.

Other than the occasional bugs, but anything getting stress tested is going to experience growing pains, and it's kind of charming. Like, new mmo launch charming. :D

Obsidian is love. Obsidian is life

What is this, Dragon Ball Z's Freeza arc?

"The planet will blow up in FIVE MINUTES"

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's probably going to be a thing for awhile :) Asking the internet not to hold a grudge is like asking a fat man to skip the buffet

and I'm saying that as a fat man

You know, one time I also found a deceased man in clownish makeup in a Wendy's parking lot in '96. Had his pants down. The strangest thing.

I had the strongest need to urinate, and I inexplicably pissed all over this dead clown.

I think about it constantly.

haha yeah that song

do you uh happen to have a link

nono, I want to watch it ironically, my interest absolutely wasn't piqued by "anime thighs"

I like how it started with a smaller Fuck Spez until some group clearly went "nah, we need to go bigger"

I used to have them. They work in a pinch, but it's not the most solid connection in the world from personal experience.

Honestly, today with Reddit going through with the API changes and Twitter absolutely destroying their platform, this kind of feels like a lovely little campfire away from a collapsing civilization.

Not to be super dramatic, both platforms will still live, but lord it's a weird couple of days for some internet communities.

RIP RIF.

My dude, America is one of the most right-wing places in the world by comparison lol

The never ending ouroboros of reposted content :D

I'm a simple man, I see anyone use the word "neolib", I downvote

It's the ol' Blizzard "Look, we're introducing a new character who might be gay! There's no lore that references it anywhere, we're just tellin' you they're gay or lesbian, aren't we great!" kind of maneuver. Ooh, look at the special thing we're doing, aren't we playful and fun?

For the record, I'm all for inclusiveness, I just use Blizzard as an example since they used to be just so transparent about that before the really dark times.

Fuck that, embrace your teenage cringe self

Fantastic pair of games. I tried to share it with folks in the days before the Persona series really took off. Also great music ( the final dungeon's music progression in the first game is still firmly embedded in my memory )

I humbly submit for your approval Yuppie Psycho, a fantastic Steam horror adventure about a kid's first day in a truly nightmarish company. It's got a unique style, and genuinely unnerved me in places. Really creative work, and it deserves so much more attention.

Right. And now, going into an election year where misinformation is growing in weight and volume, we will have no idea who's artificially boosting their content.

Also, it means that every single breaking news tweet, who are you going to see first? All the dick riders who paid for Blue, which slants a very particular demographic's way.

2024 is going to be a nightmare.

Those games were great! Ogre battle 64 for the N64 was super great too

Great fuckin game, I just wish it wasnt as buggy as it was. But yeah, there was nothing quite so satisfying as spinning a double blade sword and parrying blows or the incredible crunch of whipping around a flail and smashing an enemy to bits
