Windows 10 BUT im using chris titus's powershell script and winaero tweaker and openshell to remove all windows apps and customize the os, plus chocolatey automation and fastcopy scripts to automate my installation process. i havent timed it but on a good day i could reinstall windows and have my system up and running in the hour, including formatting and installing windows 10 to the disk.
Building WiFi kernel drivers myself where on Windows its a double click, finding a desktop environment that lets you add a 2nd taskbar in the GUI without losing certain important items like the start menu, system clock, or system tray (I always lost something), finding replacements for certain niche Windows programs is frustrating (VoiceMeeter -> PipeWire), or completely absent, as my Oculus Rift and the Adobe Suite (which I need for my job) was unusable, and my Razer, Logitech, TourBox, Xence, and Elsra devices aren't programmable, missing or bad support for basic features like multiple monitors and HDR, having to manually set AppImages to run as an application and not open like a file (I know it's a file), but in the end, needing 2 GPU's to virtualize a Windows machine officially ended my Linux dreams for the near future.
obligitory windows user here to say that not only should every program should tell you where they are, but should also use them, or have a way to import configs via the command line. very frustrating to discover powershell automation is impossible for a program because i am too lazy/stupid to figure out how to automate the gui it doesn't have any way to modify configs without navigating the gui, cough cough winaero tweaker but this is only because i am an windows user, and i stubbornly refuse to learn how to use linux until absolutely necessary.

this is why i dont spend money on games anymore. the network of pirates will always be stronger than steam's network of business men.
i find developers/publishers are most likely to sacrifice your comfort first and foremost, and many of the games ive pirated have run worse for me or my friends when run legally. but i must admit i enjoyed the process of tinkering with windows on my steam deck, and the piracy workflow for steamOS is seamful.
