It seems more honest than touting exceptions as some sort of compromise. Have you ever thought of what a rape exception (or other exceptions) looks like in practice? They just don't happen. How many abortion providers are willing to test the law? How many pregnant people are able to get a police report necessary to be exempted? How many abortion providers are even practicing in states with rape exceptions to their otherwise strict abortion laws?

Arguing about what exceptions should or should not be on the books is a distraction. It's only service is to placate the general public into accepting barbaric abortion bans.

In your Western scenarios, I don't think it would be anywhere near a clean getaway most of the time. Horses do tend to behave differently for different riders. A very well trained horse may handle the new rider better, but most horses tend to test new riders. The first couple rides on a new to you horse is both a learning experience and a power struggle. You don't know exactly how that horse was trained, and the horse usually wants to see what it can get away with. You might find out the owner doesn't use some standard cues, and the horse might just take advantage of it get irritated with the confusion.

They know who their people are. In your scenarios, it's likely the horse only has one rider. Trying to hop on without it's person there is going to confuse it. If you are good with horses and it's trained in a conventional way, you'll have a better chance at gaining control quickly. I still wouldn't imagine galloping off immediately... That's going to take time.

I really don't know with the shooting dead question. If owner does a lot of yelling before/after the shooting, I don't see it ending well. No arguing before hand, one clean shot to the head - might be more dependant on if the horse is gun trained. I know horses that couldn't care less about fireworks and gunfire but will throw you over a plastic shopping bag blowing across the field or because she heard a noise coming from "that scary tree".

I don't know a good way to judge a horses temperament at a glance. You can get an idea of what kind of mood they're currently in fairly quickly though. You can look at their muscle build and get an idea of how much they're worked and if your good an idea of what kind of work. Different muscles will be toned differently depending on what they're used for.

Issue one wasn't about abortion, no matter how much people want it to be. Convoluting it with the November abortion rights issue will only give false confidence for the November vote. It's going to be a much tighter vote than what this was. Plenty of people across the political spectrum saw the long reaching implications passing issue one would have and voted it down for being a power grab.

I would say the important distinction is in presentation. Was it a bowl of onion and cucumber mixed together with ranch? If so salad. Was it a plate with a pile of cucumber and a pile of onion, with ranch for dipping? If so crudites.

I've started with a frozen bird in the morning, and had a nicely baked turkey at a reasonable time this way. Put it in a bath until it's not entirely a brick, replacing some of the water frequently. Balance it in the sink so you can run the faucet down the neck. Run water until spine is thawed enough to spatchcock. Doesn't matter if most the meat is still frozen, it'll cook fine.

*Went to brine my turkey the day before and found a weird "growth". It was really unappetizing and concerning, so I overreacted and threw out the bird. Could only find frozens, so the new bird only had overnight in the fridge. After buying a new turkey I thought to get on the Butterball turkey help line. They were fantastic and assured me the growth was actually a processing burn and totally safe.

I agree. There are plenty of people conflating issue 1 and abortion rights, but the reality is issue 1 had nothing to do with abortion rights. I don't think this is a Democrat win, nearly as much as it's being portrayed. Plenty of R's voted it down on it's own merit. LaRose was certainly pushing it to prevent an abortion rights win in November, but after his push to eliminate special elections (not to mention what the proposal actually said) folks across the political spectrum saw it for the power grab it was. Wanting to keep a path for citizen led ballot initiatives does not equal wanting to enshrine abortion rights.

Yep, it's great! You can call or text with all your turkey questions. I texted and so the lady helping me even asked for pictures of the "growth"! She sent the issue up the line until it was identified. This was just last year, and I'm still mad about throwing out a perfectly good turkey before trying the helpline.

I've never played Cyberpunk, but watched my husband play for a lot of hours. I played Xdefiant's beta for a day in June. I'm puzzled by why it didn't pass. Beta was not buggy, had maybe one minor issue with it. My guess is security violation.

I don't know about cheese fries being a salad. I think a salad needs at least 2 ingredients not including dressing/garnish. So you'd need to do cheese fries with like fried peppers too make it a warm potato salad.

Thank you for saying this! My tail bone doesn't bend with the rest of my spine and I wanted to say what helps me, but stopped myself. What helps me (primarily things that force a curve in my lower back), is probably going to make a lot of back issues worse. Gotta figure out the cause before coming up with a solution.

Good job! That can be a ton of work, and rather tedious. I'm sure it feels much better having it done. I recently went through about 10 years of photos, looking to make prints. Not something I'd suggest putting off for that long, lol. Felt great after it was done though!

I love my bidet, but I can't get anyone else on board. How do you get people comfortable with sharing one? I've attempted to get my sisters to try mine, but they both think a bidet is like a personal item and gross to share.

I had one for a couple years, best winter 'coat' I've ever had! You probably shouldn't wear it with just a t-shirt underneath in the freezing snow, but with a sweater - you could wear that in the freezing rain for a while!

So I got nosey, and checked out your profile. I'm really confused by your reputation of -31. What I heard was upvotes don't count for rep, but downvotes and boosts do. Do you know, did you get some comments mass reported or something? Maybe reports count against? Maybe it's buggy with non kbin accounts? I'd suggest hitting boost on your own posts, that might help. I know the first day I was active, my rep went up, with me having like 2 upvotes, but also boosting my own posts. It seems weird that you boosting your own stuff would have a positive effect, but I think it might. I included a screen shot of your rep page, so you can make of it what you will... I'm mostly guessing. FYI comments was the only category that had any affect on your rep, all other categories were empty.

Part of the issue is an upvote means different things on different instances. I have a Lemmy account (inactive) and a kbin. Lemmy has Upvote, Downvote, and Star buttons which can be compared to Reddit's system, with Star meaning saved. Kbin is different. It has Upvote, Downvote and Boost. For whatever reason, upvote on kbin is equivalent to Lemmy's star (called favorite on kbin instead of saved) and Boost is more equivalent to a Reddit upvote. Boosts and downvotes affects post visibility and your Reputation, while upvotes seem to only save the information (for you) for later reference.

Well now I don't know. Couple of days ago, if you look at your profile there was a favorites section. That section is gone now....just when I thought I was figuring it out.

I'll second the hand bidet! It hooks on the side of the toilet tank, and the hose is long enough that I've used it to spray my feet off in the tub. For the ladies out there, hand bidet is the way to go for period and after sex clean up.

Previously had an under-seat style and had many issues with it. The under-seat wasn't as good for certain poos, and being a lady, I was never very comfortable with the water blasting back to front. It also was a pain whenever the toilet clogged - all that nasty toilet water splashing it and on a few occasions the bidet was submerged. That's a lot of extra cleaning, and you gotta trust everyone else is properly cleaning it after a clog.

I'm on kbin exclusively now, with the exception of a couple weeks ago. I was looking for exceptional rock shops near where I was visiting. Wanted suggestions/reviews from the more geological geared, and specifically not metaphysical/crystal shops. Reddit was the best resource for my purpose.

That said, I believe the fediverse can become a similar resource. For the time being, there just isn't a large enough, or old enough library of information to draw from. Given time this should change, but for now Reddit still fills certain types of needs that other areas of the internet cannot.

The adjustable base is a game changer! Helps with my heart burn and my husband's snoring. Also, I'm sick rn, so have been watching a lot of tv in bed. Being able to adjust to more of a sitting position is awesome.

I was mostly looking for details to indicate the person was real. Got 8/10. Someone had an odd tooth, someone else's eyebrow hair looked like they had just woken up. There was one picture I immediately knew was AI, because it just seemed off. Another had some strange wrinkle texture on the neck that just seemed unnatural. One of the 2 I got wrong because I thought the eye wrinkles were too much for the rest of the face. Turned out to be a real person.
