Any plans to improve the sorting algorithm so that there's a good balance of fresh posts at the top that's also fairly active? And to help promote smaller communities that would have otherwise been dominated by the posts from bigger instances.

Any concerns about duplicate communities across multiple instances? People have made the argument that it's like having different flavors of subreddits on Reddit, but it's a flawed analogy. Individual instances have incentive to make their own communities flourish, whether or not there's a duplicate already available.

Republican voters are a different breed. Even with enough evidence to prove Russia was interfering with the 2016 election, Democrats still mostly accepted the win. With even less evidence of any fraud in the 2020 election, the majority of Republicans deny Biden's legitimacy.

Chatgpt creating incorrect feedback loops like this is one of my main concerns about AI being used so prevalently. This and original thoughts disappearing because every new content in the web is generated by AI and not by a human.

Far-right news rag wants people to stop saying far-right. How unsurprising.

Calling PP a political org is too obtuse a message to view this response as a simple mistake or miscommunication. Unity is apparently run by conservative hacks and I hope they collapse.

Does teaching Holocaust make us hate modern Germany? Does teaching about Pearl Harbor makes us hate modern Japan? Why do they think that teaching black history is exclusively spreading hate?

I might be in the minority, but shitpost memes like "I'll draw a shitty picture every day until x happens" or "I'll do this based on Y upvotes", and the "here's a random hotdog/Gatorade bottle everyday". I know I can probably just block these kinds of posts, I just never got the appeal of it.

Realistic scenario: half the workers show up in person just to log into a video conference anyway because the other half is remote.

I'm not exactly sure when it started, but Play Store now has "Limited time events" that further block what I'm actually looking for. I don't give a damn about some gacha/loot box promotion some soulless pay2win app is advertising, I just want to browse for apps I might like.

It's the dumbest take ever even if you're just trying to play devil's advocate, never mind making it an official state PUBLIC EDUCATION POLICY. It's like saying slaves were fed during slavery that allowed them to live. Technically yes they were fed, technically yes they learned skills, but it's all overridden by the fact that THEY WERE ENSLAVED. There's no room to find any silver lining in this situation that could potentially give any props to slave owners because it's one of the most subhuman behavior imaginable.

Lol the audacity to blame one of the private jet flights on the abortion decision leak. As if that was the reason for all the other private flights gifted to him.

I felt the same way, but it's mostly due to lemmy's still premature sorting algorithm. Sorting by New, Top Hour, or Top Six changed my experience drastically. There's still issues like posts having not enough involvement through comments, and duplicate posts from similar communities, but overall it's much better after about a month in.

He's already at the "the media is unfair to me" stage. That was quick.

Also, the last paragraph is hilarious.

I try to remember to always under promise expectations. Even after all these years I keep forgetting that a simple change is never really that simple and has lots of overhead.

"A movement can't be about the personality of one individual," Desantis said

Desantis is a POS but he's not wrong here

And they're willing to fuck up lots of lives now and in the future just so they can remain in power by continuing to drive up irrational hate.

So he's complaining that Milley responded too late to Jan 6th but at the same time is taking credit for starting the insurrection? Which is it Gosar? Did you or did you not want Jan 6th to happen?

I bet they're the same ones that don't want body cams or investigations into excessive policing...

Unironically, yes we really should eat much less meat and use more renewables sources of energy (like blocking out the sun with solar panels)

Sure, it's not entirely ethical and a nepo baby, but to still compare him with Don Jr who is still continuing to spout election denialism and misinformation is a bit disingenuous. I agree, if Hunter committed any crimes he should pay just like anyone else, but him being a nepo baby isn't the conversation we're having right now.

It's funny, if you swap gestures with buttons in your post, I'd agree 100% lol

I'd like for him to rot in jail, but doesn't this need to prove that Stone plotted with Trump to be of any use?

Whatever happened to these state rights that the GOP keep hounding on about? Almost like they've been making bad faith arguments all this time and just really want to criminalize it throughout the whole country...

Jurassic Park. I love movies that starts calm and maybe a bit fantastical that builds up suspense towards a huge terrifying, awe-inspiring reveal and Steven Spielberg is a master of that skill.

Finally getting tired of the "Freedom" Caucuses bullshit? Now actually do something about it.

Id recommend Connect. Very similar feel, at least closest to Relay. Relay used to be my daily driver too

Dude's part of the problem and either doesn't know it or doesn't care. Each makes them a terrible person.

There's honestly not enough "fuck spez" lol

Because it's Fox News and they're going to pack it with conservatives that will cheer anything that DeSantis says

Ya, but it proves I lived through the 90's 😆

That's the point OP was making when they said LGBT+ isn't political. LGBT+ isn't an ideology for people to share "beliefs" about. It will exist whether or not you believe in it, and normalizing people who say I don't believe in it is essentially denying the LGBT+ person's identity. It's ok to say you don't understand, or even like it, but to simply say "you're making up your gender identity" is wrong and harmful.

I use torrent galaxy, that seems to work pretty well.

Qbittorent to get the thing you want. Recommended to get a VPN while doing so.

Dump the file into a flash drive and plug into a TV. Or setup a shared network drive. Or set up a Plex server with a basic Music/TV/Movie folder structure , have Plex scan it, and stream like your other streaming apps.

It's probably the closest thing to reddit right now (even down to the shitposting memes unfortunately) but I wouldn't say it has the same feel quite yet. I still find the distributed nature confusing (am I in the lemmy.world's technology community, or lemmy.ml's? How do I get to beehaws instance?) and navigating between instances is a chore. I realize though that situation is very fluid and if users can get over the hump and start investing into their communities and lemmy as a technology it can get better.

Also I rely on mobile apps to navigate the majority of the time. There are some decent ones out there now, like Connect for Android. But it definitely is still buggy, and is not as fluid as my experience with Relay for reddit. But again, nothing that can't be fixed.

Some of my favorite subreddits still hasn't shown up yet as communities in any of the major lemmy instances, and I honestly feel it's going to take a very long time for that to happen for some of the more niche ones. The user base I honestly believe will never reach even close to reddit's numbers.

So in a nutshell, good promise, closest thing to reddit, but still has a long way to go.

It's pretty cool obviously but until we can see peertube videos directly in our lemmy feed it's just a fun gimmick. Copying the URL into a lemmy search box just so you can post a comment seems a bit cumbersome. Unless I'm misunderstanding this post

Yeah it's the reason, back on Reddit, that I'm able to see posts from smaller subreddits show up near the top of my feed because it's popular relative to the number of subscribers of that subreddit.
