What's funny is this is the biggest update in years. The action button and USB C by themselves are a much bigger difference than last year was. Base models also got dynamic island. Smaller bezels, rounded edges, new colors. I dk how much more could change visually besides those things anyway?

The pros also have 3nm, armv9, wifi 6e, thread connectivity, new cellular bands, ai 5g modem, ray tracing, more ram, Qi2, 10 gbps port, increased repairability, titanium. 5x zoom on the Pro Max.

I think the problem that people are picking up on is that the base model is turning into a budget version of the previous year's pro model. If you want newer tech you are forced to pay over $1,000 now. Before they had the same internals as the pros.

Most of us are here because of us refusing to use unethical platforms. That's the best thing about Lemmy, we have standards.

I am surprised they don't just cut costs by not having a physical location then? Or is this just while waiting out lease agreements.

They give up on everything else all the time. I wonder if expanding their ad business is the one exception though. They ran out of new users and already pack videos full of ads. Forcing them on people who block them is the only thing left for them to attempt as they seek to continue perpetual growth.

If you aren't even looking at most notifications why have them enabled? Just seems like you are torturing yourself by that point.

The titanium was added to make it more lightweight vs stainless steel. It's more durable for its weight but the phones seem to be less durable overall.

They say it is an OS bug and some app problems that are causing the overheating. If true that might help the performance if anything.

It's not that USB C is amazing, but that it is a big change for iphones. Especially compared to the past couple of years where they changed even less.

If it doesn't make them more ad revenue it gets canceled.

You had me wondering their ages and how old they were supposed to be. Apparently it's a mystery.

I am shocked the actor for George was 29. I think I always thought of them as in their 40's at the time it was on TV.

I can't go to stores because I need tall and extended sizes that I have never found in a physical store. Not even for shoes. So online is my only option, and even then there isn't much choice.

Still I only order one at a time by carefully reading the sizes and taking my own measurements. Usually I don't need to make a return. If I do it is usually such a bad fit that I give up on buying it anyway after returning.

I don't understand how people are ok with ads? They annoy me so much. It's wasting your time so it can attempt to manipulate you into buying stuff with the money you can't afford to spend.

I have been doing inbox zero for a few months now and it has been great. Swipe right to delete, left to archive. Anything in my inbox actually needs my attention.

Also don't give out my real email and unsubscribe from anything I don't need. It's just a few emails per day now.

Democrats finally got to appoint someone to the FCC.

That and long distance travel are my concerns. Will I have to keep stopping for long charging sessions. Will there even be a charger on the route at all.

A third concern is how safe the lithium batteries are for charging, it would have to be inside my garage that is on the 1st floor. I guess it's probably not too much of a concern but I worry about even leaving small lithium batteries charging unattended.

That's not as bad as I thought. Do you still have to plan your route out to make sure you have a charger available? Do you ever get stuck waiting for someone to finish charging?

I usually end up going 1,000 miles or so in a single day. Maybe stop to get gas 2 or 3 times for a couple minutes each time. Ends up being 13-16 hours, so try to keep the refueling to a minimum so it doesn't carry over into another day.

Not sure how I could charge in my family's rural area or if they would even want me using their electricity even if it could use a regular outlet.

Ideally I think I would prefer some sort of simple battery swap. Also would need another company, I wouldn't buy a Tesla just because of Elon.

I don't like how he often sacrifices usability for aesthetics. Only having two ports on a Macbook, thin iPhones with no headphone jack, etc were said to be his designs.

If you have a Hyundai or Kia don't miss out on this upcoming recall. It's for cars catching fire even when parked. It won't show up under your vin as available until they officially announce it in November.

Is there any app for Lemmy that can filter by keyword? I don't want to read about Elon and Trump multiple times a day. With some Kanye, Zuckerberg and Tate sprinkled in.

I already know they suck and 99% of the time they are mentioned it isn't even relevant or is about social media platforms I don't use.

I would say guns are different because they are literally deadly weapons designed for the purpose of killing. However, the right to bear arms is also in the bill of rights and guns can be used to save lives in certain situations.

Guns could be argued all day but really it's a straw man that's distorting the scope of the discussion, which is on Airtags.

Airtags aren't dangerous devices that need to be regulated. They are useful for tracking lost and stolen property, pets. They can't directly harm anyone. I believe it should be considered as evidence for stalking, and using any tracking device to enable crimes should be an additional criminal charge. Using it without someone's knowledge could itself be considered a crime, or grounds for a restraining order.

Project Ara was one of the most disappointing abandoned Google products.

That's wild that they don't even feel the need to come out with a new game once every 20 years though.

Is it third party? I thought it was by them but honestly I don't know how to tell the difference. Thought it was by them because verified and it said to send them secure news tips.

You can export your LastPass to Bitwarden. It didn't take me long.

Too true. Sad what life does to us.
