I don't really understand why people hate so much on transsexuality these days. Calling them a 'scourge' and 'mentally ill". What BS. Trans people are not hurting anyone. They just want to be their true self.

One of the arguments often used (also here) is that they are trying to force other people to be trans (in this case the poster says "they think everyone should get puberty blockers"). Which is complete BS, I have never met a trans person that wanted everyone else to be trans too.

It seems to be a big pet peeve of the extreme-right these days. I just don't understand why.

How much do you weigh? As much as 11 stones and 2 pebbles.

How far is that? 2 feet and 5 thumbs.

How fast are we going? About 6 knots in a rope that's hanging overboard.

It does make me laugh sometimes sorry. But the real problem is not the base units.. It's the multiplication factor.

The founder of that pebble is now heading a matrix-derived decentralized chat service called beeper so it's not too far from the truth :)

They've certainly "taken back control" from those pesky EU privacy regulations.

Well, don't forget that a philips head screw was designed to slip. It was designed as a poor man's torque-controlled screw. This is really part of the problem. If you use hardened steel drivers and screws this is not a problem but often it's pretty low quality and the slipping will cause damage to the head and driver.

I prefer torx for this reason. But most of the screws I use I don't pick, because I do a lot of repair work.

'Medical' is a major fetish I see a lot but it's not something I ever suspected would be a thing. I still don't feel like it's at all erotic.

I'm sure his son has vetted it first!

It comes with office for free. That's how.

I like the way how conservative Americans are generous on Thanksgiving and think that one day is somehow enough or whatever.

That's just inserting a urethral stick right? It's not super extreme IMO. It doesn't hurt unless you do it wrong and it's the most direct way for prostate stimulation (through the back passage there's other tissue in between :) )

As far as fetishes go I know a lot worse lol

Well I hate GNOME personally but it's just because of its philosophy: Opinionated software. They prefer removing choice and forcing users to "use it as it was meant to be used". I don't like that because I have my own opinions and I want my software to adjust to me instead of me adjusting to the software. Other people are more inclined to really embracing a product and its methodology but I don't work that way. But hating software is not the same as hating people. Software is just a 'thing'.

I moved away from Mac too because it moved ever more in that direction: Removing choice. But I don't hate GNOME developers or users <3 Just the product. I use KDE instead and am very happy with it. And I don't care if anyone hates KDE, that's their choice. Not every product is for everyone and that is OK.

I also don't like Systemd but I don't use it either. So it's fine, they can do what they want and I do what I want. I'm not a team player and not loyal to anyone or anything, just my own opinions.

But I don't really understand what all this has to do with LGBTIQ+ (which I'm very much in favour of)

I apologize , that didn't come across as intended. I didn't mean to imply that it's a matter of wanting at all.

I just argued against the narrative that somehow trans people are forcing cis people to become trans. Obviously they don't 'want' that because they are in the right body for them. This is where all the "Don't say gay" idiocy comes from. Because they view it as propaganda or something.

But of course the whole premise is BS. Even the concept of 'becoming' trans is. And yes I know it's not a choice <3

But that came out wrong.

I really really don't understand what people have against you. What you do with your body is obviously none of their business whatsoever. I don't get why people even want to have an opinion about that.

FWIW I'm really happy for you that you can live your life in the proper body to match your soul and I'm an LGBTQI+ ally <3 (and a little on the Q side myself).

I can understand people don't want to be trans because they are simply in the right body or they aren't but have religious doubts or whatever but that deep hatred I see even in some of my "friends" scares me.

True but with good reason. I hate Microsoft and my job is implementing their stuff.

My colleagues are all hyped up about Ignite later this month, it's disgusting, like a cult. And they're constantly spamming LinkedIn full of Microsoft headlines like good corporate drones.

Why is mastodon too much trouble though?

I really don't see the difference. In fact the one difference I do see is that it's a whole lot less toxic than Twitter.

"Medical" is just a whole category in fetish. People literally "play doctor", use needles there, do gyno inspections, and more. There's usually a corner in the clubs with one of those metal chairs and fluorescent lighting. And a bunch of metal implements and rubber gloves and hoses (Not sure what they use those for but I don't think I want to know lol).

Usually people play behind the screen there. But it's a thing, almost every fetish club has this setup. But for me it puts me off as it does most people I know. It just lacks any eroticism to me. But I know some people love it!

In Holland we're trying to kick them out because of all the pollution they cause (and refusal to fix that). The jobs aren't as much of a concern. In fact the towns that are the most worried are the ones where all the workers live.

It's most probably the US actually which is one of the least socialist countries in the world.

In Spain we don't generally tip at all.

Hey some people like being whipped. No kinkshaming please! ;)

I'm not surprised. They hired the developer of all the major chat protocol bridges.

I use the big self hosted ansible playbook more for privacy reasons (self hosting everything) but I know it's good! I like their client also but it's not open source I think.

Just eat real cheese, not this processed crap that's so gunky it sticks together. Double win!

But I'm in Spain. People here are not Latinos or Latinas :)

Well too be fair the cost will always be borne by the consumer. After all if it comes out of the operator's pocket they'll just up the food prices.

But that's really what should happen because it makes the pricing clear for everyone and a salary for the waiters makes them have a decent income even when it's quieter.

You could be the second!!

I find this hard to believe. They even stopped serving the actual heinz ketchup.

That's what I used to love so much about reddit. NSFW and regular content on the same platform. No judgment.

Though the quality has really gone downhill since the people that really did it for exhibitionism reasons got overshadowed by the enormous wave of people trying to spam their onlyfans :(

Monetisation kills everything, not just on the platform side but also the content-generator side.

So like a man in the middle proxy?

How could it be lower milk content? Cheese is 99.9% milk by definition, especially actual cheese (not sure what's in this Kraft stuff). The only additive is supposed to be the starter culture.

It's also a really easy way to make mistakes with sharing confidential content to a completely different organisation. Really not a great idea.

It should just be able to support multi tenant like slack always has.

That's the cool thing about kinks. They're very diverse. Like people everyone is different.

Yup the people who chose it get celebrated for cutting hundreds of dollars per user per year for another product.

Cool that they put FreeBSD in the list anyhow! I'm part of that 0.01% globally (though not in Morocco).

Wayland, GNOME, systemd and snaps seem to be the unholy quadfecta of obsessive hate in Linux land these days. People seem to practically set their own personal identity against their feelings on these technology stacks. If you don’t like them, just don’t use them…

I agree, but the problem and the reason for my resentment is that some of these are forced on us. Gnome even introduced some dependencies on systemd. Poettering was even quoted as saying that was a good thing because it forced people to adopt systemd quicker. Of course he is a pretty blunt person which doesn't help liking the stuff he makes. But the backing of IBM/RedHat allows him to get his stuff adopted. For me he is definitely one of the reasons I don't want systemd.

Snapd can't be ignored in modern Ubuntu because even an apt-get forces a snap install for some packages. This is the problem for me. I have to keep finding ever more obscure distros to avoid the things I don't like (and in the end I moved to FreeBSD). Even Arch the most configurable distro of all (you can choose pretty much everything from network stack, partition format, etc) forces you to use systemd now.

This is what powers my anger towards them. And Mac I hate because I feel a bit betrayed by Apple, first making a powerful Unix-like OS with decent GUI which I liked, and them making it more and more mainstream and locked-down like their iOS toys, removing power features and locking many features into their walled iCloud garden. Also reducing options to upgrade Macs, introducing terrible keyboards etc. I used them for years but in the end was forced to leave the platform. It's a bit like an ex-smoker hating smokers I guess because it reminds them of the misery they dealt with :)

About Wayland: We are constantly bombarded with propaganda that X11 is deprecated and end of life. Even by its maintainers (RedHat as wayland maintainer chose to take over X11 maintenance so they could let it die more easily). This is what I hate. I'm perfectly happy if I can keep using X11. But this is constantly cast into doubt by all this skullduggery. Luckily FreeBSD is much less prone to chasing the new feature on the block than Linux is though.

Where my hate comes from is being forced to adopt something I don't want to (or people trying to do so). If they would have just made things optional, I would have had zero problems with it. This is why I don't hate GNOME, I don't like it at all but it's fine because whatever distro I choose I can always choose not to use it. I don't really hate Windows either, in fact I even use it for gaming. But what does make me hate something is having something good and then being forced to see it change into something worse. It's reactive to this behaviour.

Here in Spain you see X or @ a lot.

Like senorxs or señor@s. Where the X or @ means 'o' or 'e' (male) or 'a' (female). I like the way they do this.

This has some issues as it doesn't include non-binary options. I think it's also more of a protest against the patriarchal nature of the Spanish language which always defaults to the male version in the case where the gender is unknown or a mix.

How is pronounced I don't really know. People don't really speak it in practice. It's more used written.
