They're changing their name to "Aylo", not literal "Total Nonsense" and that makes me sad

I'd recommend reading Wikipedia

More content than you could possibly read, short reads typically, you learn stuff, and you can make games out of it

A game I like to play is to come up with 2 completely unrelated things, start on thing 1, and see if you can get to thing 2 on Wikipedia in 6 tabs or less, using Wikipedia links only

Yooo Mastodon post on Lemmy let's goooo

First comment from Infinity for Lemmy!

Infinity was my app of choice for like 2ish years, it still works with Reddit atm but when I moved to Lemmy the only real app was Jerboa, and man it was not the same

I delt with it tho, in the hopes that one day Infinity would be for Lemmy

And omg ITS BACK BAYBE

I am way too stocked over a Lemmy app, but man Infinity is lightning fast, super smooth, and beyond customizable! So I won't be needing Jerboa or Liftoff anymore

I am home!

This is reddit killing third party apps, because even if you did subscribe you're still not getting NSFW because reddit is taking that out of the API anyways

So who would pay literally more for less? Reddit can say all they want about supporting 3rd party but even the blind could see through them

Python

It's real easy to just launch it and get a script going, no need to wait for and ide or a compiler, there's alot of nice modules, and it's really API friendly

I've spent more time in the blender python API than I'd like to admit

AI: "This code will create a memory leak and potentially crash the users operating system"

Me: "Nuh-uh"

AI: "Correct"

They don't choose what they need to hide, if their government outlaws woodworking tomorrow, then any carpenters today go from "having nothing to hide" to "I need to hide my entire career and hobby" overnight and in their sleep.

And then the government threatens Facebook to hand over messages from any user suspected of woodworking, and then they get persecuted and arrested

The government threatens Google to hand over all browser history from suspected woodworkers, Apple for all iCloud photos from suspected woodworkers, Amazon for all woodworking related purchases

It goes on

If the carpenter cared about privacy from the start, then the government just wouldn't be able to find them and arrest them for simply woodworking

But the carpenter didn't care about privacy, they "had nothing to hide" yesterday, so when that law goes into effect tomorrow the government will have a really easy time finding them

Yeah honestly same, I hate having to sudo into random system files to change something basic or having to open a terminal and remember the specific magic words to do what I need

so whenever I have the option I use GUI over CLI every time

Honestly, not that great

It was really good at the start of the exodus, when I felt like I could write and be read, instead of missing the post by like an hour and being the 10,000th comment

And the community was good, too But now it seriously feels stagnant in an active way

I don't really know if it's because of Lemmy itself, or because "Eternity for Lemmy" was named after it's update schedule, but every day on this app feels completely identical to every other day Just politics, Linux, and bad memes That is basically the reddit experience, I will admit, but on here there are basically zero active niche communities, and basically deserts of fandoms

I think Lemmy did get a sort method to try and accommodate more niche communities, but like I said "Eternity" is the update schedule, so whatever that may be I don't have access to it

And I think that's a really big thing, actually My app of choice is abandonware compared to other clients, I've reported a bug that gets under my skin 6 months ago and there hasn't been a single update, so i have to live with accidentally opening posts all the time and I hate it

I really really like this client otherwise, but I might just move to a better client or a fork of the same project, I don't know

I also don't have instance blocking, either, so that's fun

Don't care, Infinity is finally for Lemmy, there's nothing I miss anymore so I'm never going back to Reddit

I LOVE GARFIELD AMEN

I'm pretty sure those AI models are trained on hashes of the material, not the material directly, so all you need to do is save a hash of the offending material in the database any time that type of material is seized

Yeah, I had absolutely no idea what "ricing" was even supposed to mean, like it doesn't look like it's short for anything, doesn't seem like an acronym for anything, it's not analogous or synonymous with anything, I can't see how "rice" is supposed to be metaphorical at all to cool looking linux desktops, and it's not an entirely new word like "rizz" or "yeet"

So by all accounts it's an absolutely unfitting word for what it's describing

Knowing the racist history of the term now, yeah that makes sense and yeah I vote we move to an objectively better term

Idk what tho, maybe "decore" cuz it actually describes that the focus is the look, that the DE is the Core of the setup, and sounds cooler than "rice"

"Decore" and "Decorizing" is probably the terms I'm personally gonna use atleast

Edit: unless I find a better term, I came up with this one on the stop

Yeah I'm on Eternity, too

Really living up to the name

Probably gonna switch cuz I really want the new features that the Lemmy devs add, like scaled sorting and instance blocking, and honestly I don't have confidence that the current dev has any free time to keep up with the updates

It's a shame, tbh

Rhythm Games in general, but specifically osu!mania taught me that I can, like, actually get good at completely new stuff no matter how much I suck at it to begin with

It also taught me that I really like Hardcore EDM, before hand I wouldn't really listen to music cuz I wasn't sure exactly what kind of music I was drawn to

This right here is one of the biggest reasons I turned to exclusively open source software, cuz man the amount of internal rage I feel any time I have to log into software is unreal, like I open the software I want it to just go

Honestly I'd probably be the type to be like "yeah I hate click bait!" Download this, and then stop watching videos entirely because they all look really boring

I know you say that as a joke but I wouldn't be surprised if the Bethesda splash screen genuinely had some actual performance cost

Fun fact: Eternity for Reddit was named after it's update schedule
