Sometimes Microsoft is such a turd... I've seen this thing posted several times, however I didn't see the fix in this thread, so I'll post it here. Sorry, I couldn't find the Lemmy post that had the information on how to remove it, but I found one on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/computerviruses/comments/149x25h/bgaupsell_what_is_this_bing_popup/jp896s0

It's basically a combination registry changes, and also directory modifications to prevent writing to the directory where BGAUpsell.exe resides.

It's pretty shitty we have to do this. Please, hold all your "switch to Linux" comments, because they are stupid, and superfluous; I see that dumb shit all the time since I came to Lemmy.

I think it has something to do with a built-in defense mechanism. When you feel dizzy like that, one of your body's reactions is "oh snap, I think I ate something bad. Get rid of it".

You think because the names you listed were leaders of their countries doesn't make them part of a greater evil? No one person commits atrocities alone; there must be some backing.

One single name doesn't get to make decisions... There must be a greater body at play. There has to be support of some sort, otherwise the people would have just said no, and killed that person.

Lol I wouldn't want to go up against Baldur's Gate 3, either. They need to take this time to tighten things up, and let things cool down for a while. They're competing for the same fans, so it would be a death sentence to release in the near future.

I'm curious... How does one even test such a thing before distributing it without having offending files to test against.

Like during the development process of this project, how on earth can you test it properly? 😂

The first game I ever saw it used in was Destiny. After that, since it didn't seem that people complained, other companies followerd suit.

Also, funnily enough, the first Destiny game was a console-only release.

Shit, I knew reddit won when I looked up the porn forums on Lemmy, and the subs measured in the low hundreds lol!

IntelliJ

Then comes the black-market.

Found the Amazon warehouse worker

It's a small piece of a security gate to slow down bots trying to login

Neat lil app. Would be nice if you were able to see all the YouTube playlists for a creator. When you go to a creators YouTube channel, it just lists a bunch of their random videos.

Also, a screencast functionality would be good too!

Remember heat.net?

Do you have a link to the video? I casually skimmed through his video list for the past year or so, but none of the titles jumped out at me for this.

Could also be a good example of why this extension sounds cool haha

Edit: Found it just a few more videos below here I stopped haha. "Clickbait is Unreasonably Effective" https://youtu.be/S2xHZPH5Sng

Yeah dude don't even get me started. The day the gaming industry broke my heart was when Mortal Kombat came out (I'm not sure which one, around 2012, 2013) and you had to buy characters in DLCs. I knew stuff was about to change.

It's been a poop show every since then.

Fone

But the oilz! We needed. Give us the precious. We give youz the cosign, yessss.

Yeah well said.

I see it here on Lemmy all the time, and you can just see it in this whole comment thread too.

I've been a software engineer for decades. I know my way around Windows, OSX, and Linux systems. I'm not a casual computer user. I AM a gamer though, and jumping through hoops to play games on Linux is not worth my time. Unless there is a native Linux distribution of the game, you're jumping through hoops trying to get it to run through Proton, or whatever other means. Driver support is another thing... Yeah it's gotten better, but sometimes it just like forcing a square peg through a circle hole.

No thanks, I'm very happy with my native gaming experience.

And sure, for dev systems, or servers, Linux is great. All of my professional work is interacting with Linux based systems, containers, etc. I also work on a MacBook Pro, so I understand the tooling for Unix systems is great for that work.

My personal life though, I'm not fighting Linux just to game.

BTW Starfield is great... Check it out lol. I just did a quick search for "Starfield on Linux". First results are something like "Runs on Proton after some tweaks". I'm good.

Regular pants aren't?

This would be great if we had some way to easily export those results into our subscriptions on our instance instead of going through one by one and joining.

GOG Galaxy is also a really good game manager. I was pleasantly surprised by its newer release. Scans games from all of your popular platforms (Steam, Epic, etc) as well as custom library folders.

Maybe I'm missing the understanding of this forum but why are there three rooks per side on the board?

I don't know chess notation, but the knight in the right should move northwest. Put pressure on that third rook

Time to fire up a Twilio bot?

In an enterprise setting we'd definitely create a method in that object what would have that chain in it, and call that instead... It seems like it's used over, and over again.

Anyhow, we're sitting here trying to make sense of something that obviously some sort of joke haha.

Man we're such fucking nerds.

I doubt it would work; unfortunately it seems that rape is pretty common over there.

They are locations that you automatically block once you set up your Lemmy account. They are subs used to test that your Lemmy feed, and blocking mechanism, is working in your client.

Yup

Yeah but the more layers you use, the less chance you have of deflowering yourself.

Q2 and Unreal tournament ruled my gaming life too. I started playing back in the "Heat.net" / MPlayer era. I miss those services so much

Windows is always faster and more responsive once you reinstall it, it doesn't matter the version lol. I'm due for a proper nuking myself, now that I think about it.

Unity3D did it for years. So dumb

Hm... If they're not being stored on the cloud, that means offline users would never receive messages, unless Signal is purely P2P. I haven't looked at the project, or the source, but I find it hard to believe -- you can't really do user lookups without some sort of middleware in the cloud.

I didn't know it was a different type of chess, so don't use my move 😞. I just saw it on the front page so I chimed in. Good luck!
