New bridges are built with protections such as pylons to prevent ships from even getting close to bumping into the bridge after the sunshine skyway bridge collapse of 1980.

Most people wouldn't actually like professional audio engineering headphones as the EQ is purposely set as flat as possible.

And the FBI confiscated their cellphones and other methods of communication?

The FBI did seize their phones but the crew has received new phones from aid groups along with a Hotspot that was provided awhile ago.

Why the fuck are poor foreign workers being treated like that when we're letting the company almost completely off the hook?

The crew has been stuck on the ship because they are essential to the recovery process. The crew knows how to operate the ship and all of it's machinery. They've been responsible for keeping pumps on board the ship running and ensuring there's no flooding as the clean up goes on.

The real question is now that the ship is back at a berth and in a position where only a skeleton crew is needed why hasn't the US granted any emergency visas to the crew so they can start rotating shore leave?

Because the less tech savvy people will be confused when the battery starts getting full and charging speed tapers off which will lead to complaints about their 20w charger only providing 3w of power.

Not to be that person but ethernet is the specification, the "grappling hook" you are referring to is the connector (Rj45 8p8c). Ethernet has a ton of different connectors in the spec from SFP to DE-9 and even HDMI.

Live nation/ticketmaster is worse than that, if you try to open a venue without giving then a cut in some way they'll blacklist you from the industry.

**in a non ADHD brain

Stimulates are not as addictive for people suffering from ADHD because it physically effects us differently. If you have ADHD then you have issues with negatively skewed dopamine responses and stimulates help by inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine causing the dopamaturgic response to seem more powerful than what it is (because again I can't stress this enough the dopamine response does not function correctly) (source)

Not to downplay anything but passenger rail employees are treated significantly better than freight. The majority of employees have set schedules including conductors and engineer. It's different from crew base to crew base but between 15% to 30% are extra board working on call.

Quality of service, networking term for rate limiting. Essentially whatever the QOS is set to is the maximum speed you will see.

If they are trying at great leghth to block IPs associated with piracy, it isn't that much harder to get known VPN IPs blocked too especially when they could use the 'why won't someone think of the children' card and claim VPNs are solely used for CSAM and drug markets.

The smart move would be to skip VPNs and move over to I2P. For those who don't know I2P is kinda like if tor and torrents had a baby that was a VPN on crack. Unlike a VPN where your traffic is encrypted and sent to one centralized server, I2P encrypts and routes your data through multiple servers and unlike tor every client by default is a node that data can be routed through.

Or maybe it's because the majority of Nightclubs are bad products... Why would I want to go to a club where all the art has been sucked out in the name of profit? The resident DJs are just going play the same top 40 tracks while cheap dmx lights are set to auto. There are hundreds of promoters putting in actual value to their shows which makes people actually want to go out instead of the cheap cookie cutter shit you find in the avarage club.

I work for the railroad and this is incorrect. The big fight this contract was for actual sick leave. As of right now if I was to get sick and call in I'd potentially lose an entire weeks worth of pay for taking that one day off (our pay system is complicated) and have a mark on my attendance. Most class ones only allow three hits before you are let go. Some take this a step further and make weekends and holidays count as two strikes. Since we work on call 24 hours 6 days a week with no guarantee of actually being home for your day off doing things as simple as scheduling a doctors appointment becomes a nightmare.

What happened in December was congress removed the sick leave portion and made it a separate bill. H.J. Res. 100 passed to block us from striking while the bill for sick leave H.Con.Res.119 failed at the senate.

You will get leagues better picture quality using a camlink/capture card and a camera with clean HDMI out. A gopro is a good budget option but a used DLSR or mirrorless camera is going to be the best. Some DSLR and mirrorless cameras support video out over usb so you don't even need a capture card. Here's a guide on getting it to work on Linux with a camera capability list inside the guide. If you do want to go the capture card route I hear elgato's camlink works in Linux.

Why the fuck hasn't anybody done this yet, at any point in the last 10-20 years?

Why would they when they are being paid?

People have been using lithium-ion batteries for home and grid storage, which is nuts if you compare it to other battery types

Compared to other battery chemistry types using lithium makes tons of sense.

Lead acid type batteries like sealed and AGM are cheap but not power dense and do not offer the same discharge ability that lithium offers without damaging the battery (AGM fixes this but it's still an issue). Some lead acid batteries require continuous maintenance and vent toxic gasses which may be an issue depending on your encloser.

Nickel cadmium batteries solve a lot of issues that lead acid batteries are plagued with however they suffer from moisture intrusion issues causing self discharge. Nickel cadmium also suffers from memory effect which may completely ruin pour battery depending on your use. The elephant in the room with nickel cadmium is that it's banned in some countries including the European union due to how toxic cadmium is.

Now with lithium, it's a very energy dense battery which means you need less batteries to meet a capacity or you can fit more capacity into an encloser. There isn't any electrolyte or water maintenance you need to worry about. You can discharge and recharge as you wish with minimal damage. Really the only downsides is that they do not like charging in the cold, are just as toxic as cadmium, and are much much much more expensive.

UV-c lights are actually much cheaper than UV black lights as they don't require the phosphor coating required to block the harmful frequencies. On top of that there was a flood of UV-c bulbs onto the market from the pandemic.

What really should have tipped them off that they are using bulbs is that UV-c bulbs emit a more blue color whereas black lights emit a purple color. Or the wierd smell emitting from the ozone coming off the bulbs.

The problem with fuels made from electricity is that pesky thing called thermodynamics. If an efuel was developed that was more efficient than electricity then we'd be able to use it to produce more electricity than we put in.

This is literally nonsense fear mongering by someone who doesn't understand how electronics and electronic repair work.

I can deal with calling to get a new prescription every month but all the other bullshit that comes with my medication being a controlled substance is what I fucking hate. Oh we are sorry but your prescription is out of stock because the DEA is worried about diversion... Oh and don't call other pharmacies because you are shopping pharmacies and now we are going to flag you...

What you have to realize is the final mix of tracks that generally end up in the public's hand are tailored towards what the average person is going to be listening to them on and unfortunately that usually means phone and laptop speakers that simply do not have the frequency range and dynamic range to reproduce what the band intending.

Another thing is some people just really enjoyed their music bass heavy where as others might enjoy more midbass to get that kick drum that slaps you. It's all down to preferences.

It's not that difficult to find flat EQ headphones, the keyword you are looking for is "reference headphones" and "mixing headphones". Personally I use the ath-m50x although after about a decade of hard use the highs on mine are starting to sound pretty harsh.

No OP is mostly correct, you cannot enforce the terms of a contract that a side of the party cannot see until after the transaction was completed making arbitration clauses hidden inside products invalid. (Norcia v. Samsung Telecomms. Am., LLC)

However you are also somewhat correct as you are under no obligation to agree to the updated terms and conditions and will be govern by the originally concented contract until you do (Douglas v. Talk America). The company is allowed to stop providing their services to you however you might be entitled to your original purchase price depending on what the original terms and conditions said.

You are comparing different efficiencies. Solar panels are 15% to 20% efficient at converting light into energy. As far as I'm aware every Efuel being developed (and every hydrocarbon fuel for that matter) has a 0% efficiency at converting light into energy but if I am mistaken please do correct me.

Embraer's largest plane the 195-E2 fits 146 in an all economy configuration. Boeing's smallest plane the 737 max 7 has an all economy configuration capacity of 172. Embraer just doesnt make a plane in the same class as Boeing or airbus.

People are obsessed with efficiency because it's the only metric that matters. We have a finite amount of resources on this planet and efficiency is the only way we can make it last. If you aren't a 'save the planet' type of person then efficiency still matters because it's directly correlated with cost.

Since you didn't explain why... Using a normal power bank as an UPS is a bad idea because lithium batteries have a limited amount cycles it can charge and discharge. With a power bank the power has to flow from the charger into the battery then out to the load which eats up those cycles. An UPS is a little more clever as the power goes straight to the load via a capacitor bank and a mosfet bypassing the battery. When the source power is cut the UPS runs off of the capacitors for the milliseconds it takes for the mosfet to switch the load over to the battery. This vastly extends the life of the battery and reduces the risks of fire and toxic fumes from being released.

This is a WAYYYYYY better insensitive for everyone than offering free charging at charge points. It should move people who could charge at home but do not in order to save money back to their home charger freeing up DC fast chargers for those who actually need it.

They are concrete or wooden structures that are piled deep into the ground like fondation foundation pylons on skyscrapers. The geometry part I was just referring to how they are angled in such a way it ricochets the ship away from the structure it's protecting or towards the channel.

Except any place where it would make sense to place one within a business would be illegal. You are not allowed to place cameras hidden or not in places where one could have an expectation of privacy.

I posted this in another thread but it doesn't, DMA boards are capable of spoofing other PCIE device IDs which was one of the few ways vanguard used to detect DMA boards. Realistically the only anti cheat that actually works are replay based community voted convictions such as counter strike's overwatch.

Clear and precheck are two separate things, clear only let's you skip to the front of the line. If you want to enjoy the benefits precheck brings to the table with clear then you have to purchase both. It's worth mentioning that most people do not pay for clear as it's usually given out of a benefit for some credit cards and even some jobs that fly a lot.

How is me pointing out that their statement was incorrect shilling? Is it a crime now to want things to be factually accurate?

The original comment was about lithium and their popularity for backup power. Sodium ion batteries are so new that you can't purchase them yet (blueitte supposedly released the NA300 but I can't find any in stock and it's no longer on their site).

It wouldn't be fair to compare a chemistry you cannot purchase and which it's strengths and weaknesses haven't been tested outside of controlled laboratory testing.

Just get one that is supported by N.U.T and have N.U.T handle your shutdowns.

While others suggested adding the DNS records manually the far more secure and easier in the long term solution is to run pihole with unbound. Going this route completely eliminates third party upstream DNS servers as unbound will query the top level domain for their authoritative name server and direct the IP address from the source. Pihole has a great explanation on their website. I like crosstalk solutions on setting it up as it's has everything you need just to copy paste your way into it working.

I really hope Pharmacist and doctors take the CDC's recommendations seriously because it's the complete opposite right now especially with pharmacy/pharmacist. The fact the CDC has to remind the pharmacist that you can transfer a schedule ii medication is really sad. There are way too many Pharmacists out there who like to hold your prescription hostage when they are out because "you might be a drug seeker".
